        Take a mixture of honey and lemon. To treat cough, it is advisable to add lemon to honey, since lemon juice is rich in vitamin C. The juice of one lemon contains 51% daily allowance vitamin C. Lemon juice also has antibacterial and antiviral properties.

        • To prepare a mixture of honey and lemon, pour a glass (250 milliliters, or 300-330 grams) of honey into a small saucepan and heat it up slightly. Then add 3-4 tablespoons (45-60 milliliters) of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 4-5 tablespoons (60-75 milliliters) canned lemon juice, or one lemon cut into thin slices. Heat the mixture for 10 minutes over low heat and stir constantly until the lemon slices (if you are using lemon instead of juice) dissolve. Add ¼ to ⅓ cup (60-80 milliliters) of water and stir. If necessary, take 1-2 tablespoons of the prepared mixture, place the rest in the refrigerator.
      2. Prepare a mixture of honey, lemon juice and ginger. Ginger is often used to improve digestion and treat nausea and vomiting, but it can also be used as an expectorant. It loosens phlegm and mucus, and also helps to relax the bronchial muscles. This means that ginger reduces the urge to cough.

        Pour a glass (250 milliliters, or 300–330 grams) of honey into a small saucepan and add a lemon cut into thin slices. Cut off about 4 centimeters of fresh ginger root and peel it. Grate the ginger on a fine grater and add it to the honey and lemon mixture. Heat the mixture over low heat for 10 minutes. Then add ¼ - ⅓ cup (60-80 milliliters) of water and mix well without turning off the heat. If necessary, take 1-2 tablespoons of the prepared mixture, place the rest in the refrigerator.

        • Wait until the mixture has cooled before taking the prepared mixture so as not to burn your mouth.
      3. Use glycerin instead of honey. If you don't have honey, don't like it, or can't use it, replace it with glycerin. Natural, not artificial (synthetic) glycerin should be used. In the recipes above, instead of one cup of honey, use ½ cup (125 milliliters, or 160 grams) of glycerin.
