My experience with Ayurveda in India. You can learn more about the Panchakarma procedure from Dr. Naushad's lecture. Why do I need a Sweda steam treatment?

Ayurveda is our science of life. That is, in literally about everything. The principle of Ayurveda is to connect the bodily, mental, spiritual, emotional. Everything that we learn in the 21st century from advanced trainings and from powerful psychologists has long been discovered before us.

Ayurveda as a healing system raises a very difficult question: who are you? Yes, that's right, straight to the point. Who are you. I translate: what are your physical, emotional and spiritual features? How does energy and information from all over the world turn into your personal hopes and dreams? How it affects your work, relationships with people, food, reaction to stress and even what time you go to bed, what time you wake up and what dreams you have. What makes you different from other people, and what do you have in common with them? What are your strengths and weak sides? According to Ayurveda, the answers to all these questions can be expressed through the individual constitution of the body, the unique relationship of thoughts, feelings and physical manifestations.

By nature, each of us has three fundamental characteristics. Something like in HR and coaching: who are you according to D.I.S.C., MBTI or socionics. Fire or water? Active or passive? You perceive the world in pink color or black? Are you more inclined towards competition and struggle, or do you run away from this into the depths of your own shell? In Ayurveda, the data from the nature of the state, or signs, are called doshas. There is a more airy (flying, dreamy) type, there is a fiery breakthrough (active), and there is an earthly (stable, slow). All three are present in each of us, the question is in balance. Sometimes the circumstances of life or one's own actions unbalance one or the other.

For example me. By nature, the fire-water dosha (pitta), for me, ebullient activity, an endless search for goals and their constant achievement is normal. Nature made me this way, I am both a hostage of this and the reason.

However, that same natural fire still knocks me out of a peaceful state. I would like to sit still, well, or lie at worst, dreamily looking at the ceiling. And I dream exclusively forward and upward, like a flame. Is it bad? Unlikely. It's natural for me, that's who I am. Can I be helped to be more harmonious and balanced in my thoughts and feelings in relation to myself, not to bite back and not self-blame? - Yes. Ayurveda has its own methods for this.

Just as a wheel alignment is made for a car so that it runs smoothly along the track, so it is also shown to a person from time to time to balance the balls and rollers so that they do not run over each other. The ancient Panchakarma procedure is a modern detox, cleansing, reboot. There is different forms, complex and simple, hard and soft, but each time it is an individual system of steps selected for a particular person to bring him into balance. And body, mind and spirit.

Pancha is five, karma is action. Five actions to cleanse the body, mind and soul at the same time: relaxing and pleasing massage with oiling, Indian steam room, taking oil inside, cleansing the esophagus through enemas and vomiting, cleansing the nasal mucosa, bloodletting, special diet. Actually, everything comes from the request. A good Ayurvedic doctor begins the appointment with the question: Why do you need this? And immediately after that asks the question - who are you?

My request was - to balance in thoughts and feelings, cool down the inner ardor (hello, fire!) and, to be honest, eat away two personal hours a day with a complete shutdown of the head and consciousness.

I did panchakarma not in India and not even in Moscow, but near the Black Sea - in Sochi, at the Ayurveda Guru Center of Dr. Bond, who himself received an MS degree from the Indian Academy, was awarded the Paracelsus medal and bears the title of honorary naturopath of Europe. During the time of communication with the doctor, I plunged into this matter so much that now I myself can talk about different types, forms and even schools of Panchakarma with the air of an expert.

  1. First stage- how in good training- Goal setting and plan development. To begin with, I was tested according to the author's method of Dr. Bond and determined the imbalance in the doshas. To do this, the doctor measures the pulse at several points on the forearm, conducts a general examination (body, mucous membranes, eyes, temperature, general constitution), asks questions, and not only about the health of the body, but also about the health of the mind and emotions.
  2. Then begins preparatory p - oiling from the outside and from the inside. Ghee butter on an empty stomach before meals gives laxative effect. Why oil inside? Because it promotes the breakdown and removal of toxins from the body. Moreover, all the rarest and most precious oils are used in panchakarma - from sesame to mahanayarana oil (do not ask what it is extracted from and where it grows).
  3. Third stage. On the same day, a soft oil massage treatment in two or four hands, followed by steaming in an Indian sauna. You lie horizontally in a closed wooden barrel, your head is outside, and this is more useful than an ordinary Finnish sauna or a Russian bath. I note that this is the most pleasant and longest stage - oiling with steaming is carried out for all 10 or 20 days of the course, and this is such a rest that you don’t want to get out of there.
  4. main stage- purification of all possible channels. I had the light version: without vomiting and leeches, and as a laxative soft senna grass (instead of traditional castor oil). You can also have the pleasure of various enemas and gastric lavages, but this, again, is according to the doctor's prescription in each individual case.
  5. Of course panchakarma involves cleansing through diet. Usually adhere to a vegetarian diet, selected individually depending on the balance of the doshas and the request. For example, in my case, it was necessary to exclude foods that kindle the fire of digestion (tea and coffee, wheat, chocolate are not recommended).
  6. The final stage- shirodhara, dripping a trickle of warm oil on the forehead. Calming the flow of thoughts and relieving mental stress.

What did I end up with?

I won’t speak in clichés about “reborn”, “rebooted to the fullest”, “calmed my soul and thoughts” - because you won’t believe me anyway, it’s impossible to convey emotions. But here is very specific - what you can feel and touch:

  • Leather. She oiled, it seems, on both sides - internal and external. Outwardly, I became like a rosy-cheeked baby pig (so my mother told me).
  • Appetite. Obviously less desire to eat. I repeat, I did not have the task of losing weight or balancing the diet, not the situation, but the pleasant effects in the form of reducing the brutal zhor - plus.
  • Two hours of personal time with myself in a purr from pleasure. Mothers of four-month-old babies, do you understand me? Yes, and any mothers, comrades, women, girls ... Time with yourself, time to think, time to understand yourself. Each of us needs it, and each of us often forgets about it, finds time in the routine of such-acutely-important-things.
  • A New Look to your body system. Yes, it's for the system. Talking to a doctor is valuable. A worthy alternative to psychotyping and training. Important - choose your doctor and proven places, do not trust the body-soul-thoughts to just anyone - you are alone.
  • Fresh thoughts and ideas. For example, in the course of panchakarma, I had the idea of participating in the Forbes School and at the same time I came up with a New Year's creative gift for the whole family. Everything is interconnected: balance in the body - balance in thoughts.

Why do I recommend this procedure to a modern city lady? Because often we run to "heal" problem areas, they are bodily or mental wounds, to coaches, psychologists, coaches. Forget about the balance of internal and external. We run when it's too late to change anything. At the same time, there are proven methods that have been working effectively for thousands of years, and which balance us inside and out so that we do not have to heal. Reboot on time, and let the balance be from the inside out.

With the help of panchakarma, internal forces appear in the body, contributing to the removal of harmful substances. Some of which can be destroyed by using a large number water, due to the fact that these toxins begin to completely open and go out through the human skin. There are certain slags that are removed when using liquids that contain oil. It is because of this that panchakarma at home describes in detail the application different kind oils corresponding to a certain type human body. As a result, the body and mind begin to find harmony with each other and a certain rejuvenating process.

The main stages of panchakarma

The procedure is divided into three key stages:

  • the first is preparatory, purvakarma;

The whole process of cleansing and rejuvenation at home continues from 10 days to 2 weeks, but if you turn to a specialist, then you will need treatment 21 day.

First stage characterized by internal treatment with oils, for this it is necessary to highlight three days. During this stage, drink daily on an empty stomach 50g butter - ghee and drink it warm plain water. Salt or ginger mixtures can also be added to ghee.

Half an hour after applying ghee, you can start eating, but not earlier, since the oil will need some time to be completely absorbed in the stomach.

Ayurveda believes that the method of internal oiling helps to get rid of ama and bring it into gastrointestinal tract.

On the second stage panchakarma, external oiling begins already. In this case, the most efficient massage oils, which are selected according to the exact correspondence with the physique of a person and his belonging to a certain dosha. For example, sesame oil is great for Vata, sunflower oil is great for Pitta, and mustard or corn oil is great for Kapha.

For 7 days, mainly in the evening you need to exercise massage procedures using previously selected oils. It is mainly rubbed into areas of the head or on the toes.

The massage room should be warm enough, and the body should always be in a warm state.

At this stage, it is appropriate to take internally triphalu churnu, the dosage of which is selected independently. It has a slight laxative effect, tones the body, and also activates the organs.

Third stage treatment is accompanied by cleansing enemas to be done within three last days course, while do not forget about external oiling.

Dashmula- this is a special healing collection for an enema, which is dissolved in 0.5 of water before use and boiled for about 5 minutes. After the mixture is cooled to the temperature of the human body, it is filtered and after that it is completely ready for use.

Instead of this composition, you can still use fenhei, ginger and calamus, which are taken in equal proportion to each other.

Given the large number modern methods body rejuvenation, panchakarma is still relevant and in demand. There is an opinion among Hindus that panchakarma helps to restore strength after various diseases and allows a person to become in operation much faster.

Following Ayurveda, it is worth understanding that vital energy is saturated human body in the form of a biological active ingredients, which sound in Sanskrit as "vata", "kapha" and "pita". In medicine they are called doshas. Each element is responsible for a specific function, and they are located in certain areas of the body.

The basic principle of Ayurvedic medicine is special system preparation methods that concentrate harmful substances where they come out. It is not possible to simply flush the organs, as the toxins must be collected in the right places.

For example, experts recommend cleansing therapy in case of localization of toxins in gastrointestinal system. Otherwise, it is impossible to remove harmful substances. Another reason that are responsible for the damage to the physical and mental doshas are the damage to the bodily doshas - pita, kapha and vata, as well as the mental tamas and rajas. As a result negative impact ecology, poor quality food there is a distortion of these doshas, which provokes diseases.

General information about procedures

  • The effectiveness of cleansing therapy is influenced by the system of preparatory techniques. Pre-treatment or Purva Karma refers to the elimination and reduction of toxins in the body. It is carried out taking into account his condition.
  • In the process of conducting oil therapy, external and internal oiling of the body occurs. The oil is applied to the whole body or to certain areas of it. The use of oil inside is also welcome, but the dosage of the drug is strictly individual. It is important to combine oil with drug fees that improve the functioning of the digestive system.
  • After that, specialists use diaphoretic procedures for which steam is used. It is saturated with healing components. Used bath with warm water, diaphoretic teas. Parallel to the sweating (swedana) procedure, the patient must adhere to a special diet that reduces the amount of undigested food particles. The purpose of these two therapies is to move toxins out of the stomach and intestines.

The effectiveness of panchakarma

In 2002, scientists managed to prove the effectiveness of the procedure. Specialists from different countries of the world engaged in the study of the blood count of people who have undergone a course of purification by panchakarma. As a result of the research Indian system a decrease in the level of toxic substances in the blood by more than 50% was found.

This efficiency is achieved thanks to the special ingredients used in the procedure. Particularly distinguished herbal infusions and oil, allowing you to remove harmful toxins from the body.

  1. It includes carrying out all stages of cleaning with a certain time interval between them. The course can take at least 30 days with rest intervals. It is held no more than once a year.
  2. This option implies an appeal to some types of complex procedures in the off-season. For him, the following types of cleaning are considered ideal:
  • Nastya and Vamana. This is a vomit cleaning that is performed between the spring and winter seasons. Vamana and Nastya are held every three days.

For the sick

Efficiency depends on the moment of onset of the disease and its degree of development. With knowledge, the selected course will relieve the exacerbation of diseases or prolong remission. If an exacerbation occurs, it does not cause suffering and discomfort to the patient.

Due to the cleansing of the body through natural channels, panchakarma is able to fight against diseases of a different nature. Many diseases go away completely, the patient's well-being improves.

During treatment autoimmune diseases in modern medicine steroids or cytostatics are used to achieve a short remission. At the same time, drugs have many side effects that harm other internal organs. The difference between panchakarma and other procedures is that it relieves diseases without negatively affecting other organs. Moreover, it allows you to improve the functioning of internal organs for the period of illness.

If desired, the procedure can be done at home. Of course, home cleaning will not be as effective as in medical center. But, if everything is done correctly, the result will be excellent.

| What is Panchakarma and how to do it at home

panchakarma, which means five actions or five procedures in translation, is the oldest program for cleansing and rejuvenating the body, as well as for cleansing the consciousness and mind. in Sanskrit "Punch" means "five" "Karma" means "action". Yes, therapy. "Panchakarma" are the five main methods of Ayurveda that are unique

Panchakarma
has a positive effect on general state health, well-being, eliminates stress.

The state of health, happiness and an inner sense of well-being, according to Ayurveda, is the natural state of a person. AT modern world an ordinary person accumulates toxins and stress, which leads to a deterioration in the general condition, health deteriorates, diseases appear.

Panchakarma helps eliminate negative consequences Everyday life by cleansing the body of toxins and ridding the nervous system of stress. Harmony is restored.

Panchakarma- These are quite simple to use, but effective therapeutic procedures.

Each dosha (psycho-physiological principle) is improved after Panchakarma therapy.
Panchakarma is good for both periodic prophylaxis (to prevent the accumulation of ama) and for the treatment of health disorders. It is best to undergo panchakarma in an Ayurvedic center under supervision an experienced specialist. But if you do not have such an opportunity, you can perform a simplified cleansing program at home.

It is better to carry out cleansing during the change of seasons (spring, autumn) 2 times, or at least 1 time per year.

home cleansing program starts with internal oiling.
3 days in a row, take 50 g of warm liquid ghee (clarified butter) in the morning on an empty stomach. Vata constitution - with a pinch rock salt,
pitta constitution - no additives,
kapha-constitution - with a pinch of trikatu (a mixture of equal amounts of ginger, black pepper and pippali).

If you have a double or triple dosh constitution, then mix the appropriate supplements.

(If this amount of oil is very difficult for you to take at one time, then take two tablespoons of oil three times a day in between meals). Take your first meal at least 30 minutes after taking ghee. Ghee provides "internal oiling" and lubrication, which is necessary for ama and toxins to begin to move out of the tissues into the gastrointestinal tract.

If you have high cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar, then use flaxseed oil instead of ghee. It contains fatty acid that lower cholesterol levels. Linseed oil take 2 tablespoons 3 times a day 15 minutes before meals for 3 days.

After the "internal oiling", you should proceed to the "external oiling".
However, if you are limited in time, then you can start internal and external oiling at the same time on the same day. It will be a little harder on the body, but at the same time more effective.

In case you started internal oiling earlier, the whole program will take 10 days.

If you started internal and external oiling at the same time, the whole program will take 7 days.

Over the next 7 days better evening, but in any case, at least 2 hours after eating, apply 200-250 ml of warm (but not very hot) oil to the body, carefully rubbing it in the direction from the head to the toes.

For vata constitution - sesame oil, for pitta constitution - sunflower oil, for kapha constitution - mustard (or corn) oil.

If you have a double or triple dosh constitutional type, then mix the appropriate oils in the right proportion. If one of your doshas is out of balance, then you need to take more oil for this dosha.

Oil massage carried out within 15-20 minutes.

After that, accept hot bath or hot shower. If there is a lot of oil left on the skin after a bath/shower, wash with some kind of vegetarian herbal soap. It is best to simply pat dry with a towel, leaving more oil on the skin. In any case, try not to wash off all the oil, let some of it remain on your skin.

Every evening during home cleansing, at least one hour after dinner, take ½ - 2 teaspoons of triphala. Adjust dosage according to your individual reaction: your stool in the morning next day should be very soft or runny, but not runny like water.

If you do not have a stool the next morning, take another serving of triphala an hour after the first meal.

The procedure for making triphala is as follows. Add a glass of boiling water to triphala and let it brew until the liquid has cooled to an acceptable temperature, then drink it along with the sediment. Along with many healing and nutritional properties triphala has a mild but effective laxative effect.

At the end of the home cleansing, do medicated enemas for the last 3 out of 7 days after the bath/shower. For an enema, use a dashum decoction. Dashmula - the best option if Vata is dominant.

If you can't get dashmula, you can use a mixture of calamus, fennel and ginger.)

To prepare this decoction, boil 1 tablespoon of dashmula in 0.5 liters of water for 5 minutes. Cool the resulting broth, strain and use for an enema. For Vata constitution or for any constitution in case of constipation, add a teaspoon of rock salt and 150 ml of warm water to the decoction. sesame oil. Keep the liquid in yourself as long as possible, until it causes severe discomfort. And don't worry if the liquid doesn't come out or hardly comes back out. In some people, especially those with a vata constitution, the colon can be so dry and dehydrated that it can absorb all the liquid. It's not harmful.

In Ayurveda, large volume enemas are not used. it is believed that a large amount of water injures the intestines and cannot be retained in it for a long time. Basic therapeutic effect Ayurvedic enemas - in herbs and other components included in it. It is good if the mixture is kept inside the intestines and works there for 30-40 minutes.

The temperature of the enema should not be lower than body temperature, i.e. when applying the mixture inside, you should not feel cool. Otherwise, toxins will lose their fluidity and “freeze” in their places.

If you can devote 2 weeks to panchakarma and Vata dosha dominates, the number of enemas in panchakarma at home can be increased to 7. It is recommended to start doing them on the 8th day of panchakarma and continue to do 1 time per day after oil self-massage and a warm bath. With longer periods of performing enemas during panchakarma, a strong weakening of the body is possible, therefore it is better to do this under the supervision of a specialist.

At proper conduct panchakarma intestinal flora is maintained and strengthened. However, at home, especially if you live in a city, the flora regularly dies from poor ecology and food. Therefore, one way or another, it must be regularly restored. Recovery intestinal flora it is better to carry out live bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. They are widely represented in dietary supplement companies. It is better not to buy in a regular pharmacy. You can ferment yourself natural milk(not pasteurized, not sterilized) using special capsules sold, then the number of these microorganisms increases many times over.

IMPORTANT
During the entire cleansing program of Panchakarma, it is enough to rest and avoid physical, mental and mental overstrain. It is better to conduct the program during the period when you are free from work. After completing the Panchakarma program, enter into working life gradually, without allowing excessive load in the first days after completion.

It is also very important during Panchakarma to observe light diet. From the 4th to the 9th day (or from the 1st to the 7th, if you started external and internal oiling at the same time), eat only khichri and drink warming herbal tea(type of tea recommended for colds).

If you feel the need for a sweet taste, add very little honey to your tea. In no case should you fast during the program, so eat khichri until you are full as many times a day as you are used to eating. On the first day after the end of the program, eat only khichri with steamed vegetables and drink the same tea. On the second day, you can gradually move on to a diet that is normal for your constitution.

Kitchi recipe:
Take equal amounts of rice (preferably basmati) and mung bean (yellow or green) + a small amount of cumin, mustard seed, coriander, turmeric and ginger. You can also add a little bit of salt if you can't do without salt. (If you don't have these legumes, they can be substituted with blanched whole peas that retain the germ. Soak the peas overnight or more until they begin to sprout, then rinse thoroughly.) Rinse the rice and beans several times in in large numbers water.

If you have time, soak the beans for a few hours to improve their digestibility.

Place rice, beans and spices (plus salt) in a saucepan, pour over hot water, bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid, leaving a small gap, and cook for about 25-30 minutes more until soft. The consistency of the dish should be like a thick porridge. Place 2 tablespoons of ghee on a plate before serving.
You can also use a pressure cooker to cook khichri.

WARNINGS
Panchakarma even in its simplified form, it has a powerful effect, and it should be carried out only by those who have enough strength. If you have anemia, if you feel weak and exhausted, then even this simplified method of cleansing is not for you.

Panchakarma should not be performed during pregnancy.

One of the results of panchakarma is that deep connective tissues may, along with ama and excess doshas, begin to release past emotions that have not found a way out, such as grief, sadness, fear or anger. it good symptoms, since in this way you get rid of repressed emotions hammered into the subconscious, which often become the causes of various diseases and mental discomfort. If this happens, take sedatives. herbal teas and/or meditate using any method of meditation known to you. Ultimately, this weakens these systems - that is, deprives of health, which leads to diseases.

Panchakarma helps reverse these Negative consequences Everyday life. It restores the natural state of health and well-being, detoxifies the body and detoxifies the nervous system. As a result, harmony (balance) is restored in the system, and all functioning is improved. Panchakarma also helps support this process through positive lifestyle changes.

Before this procedure, the human body is prepared by appropriate Snehana (oiling) and Swedana (steaming, sweating). This procedure is especially beneficial for diseases caused by the predominance of Kapha dosha, such as asthma, cough, psoriasis, skin diseases, and so on.

2. Virechan

This therapy removes excess Pitta dosha from the body. Virech is done with Virechak-Aushdhi (laxative) prepared with warm milk after appropriate preparation of the person by Purvakarma. 3. Basti (Vasti)

a) Sneha Vasti
Of the Panchakarma procedures, this one is aimed at violations of Vata dosha. Vata dosha is mainly located in large intestine, therefore Basti (medical oil enema) is the main therapy for diseases caused by the predominance of Vata dosha, such as constipation, neurological disorders, paralysis, flatulence, back pain, gout, rheumatism and so on. Its effects nourish and regenerate Dhatus (body tissues), enhance their activity, restore and strengthen the immune system. This procedure nourishes and at the same time removes accumulated Malas (toxins) from the large intestine.

This therapy is performed after a course of Sneha Vasti. This is a cleansing enema, for which the combination of honey, oil, herbs is compiled on the basis of the condition and characteristics of the correct person. The procedure eliminates the imbalance of Vata dosha and helps to cure diseases such as arthritis, constipation, neurological disorders, paralysis, flatulence, rheumatism.

Nasya is a treatment for the nose, throat, sinuses and head. The face, shoulders and chest are massaged with special herbal oils and brought to sweating. Herbal extracts and oils in precise dosage are injected into the nostrils during inhalation. After that, the areas of the nose, chest, palms and feet are carefully massaged. This Ayurvedic therapy provides an amazing cure for allergies, congestion (congestion), migraines, sinusitis, rhinitis and other nasal infections. It cleanses and strengthens the nasal passages, bringing full and easy breathing. This procedure is especially effective for headaches and infections in the nasopharynx.

5. Rakta-Moksha (Rakta-Moksham)

This is a method of removing toxins from the blood by bloodletting. This procedure was described by Sushruta, the father of Ayurvedic surgery. In the Charaka Samhita, instead of bloodletting, it is described special kind Basti. In later literature, there is the Shiro-Dhara procedure - hot oil head massage (Abhyanga).

Panchakarma is for:

1) removing toxins from where they accumulate (for example, with arthritis - from the shoulder joints);
2) removing toxins from the whole body through sweat;
3) bringing the Doshas into balance and returning to their original locations (Kapha - stomach, Pitta - small intestine, Vata - large intestine).

In order to avoid harm to the body, please do not self-medicate, but do Panchakarma under the supervision of an Ayurvedic doctor.
