What can you eat while fasting. What you can eat in the post: a list of staples. What is possible in a strict post

During this period, it is customary to strictly monitor nutrition and not consume fatty, meat and alcohol. However, there are days when you can treat yourself to fish. At the same time, many fasting too diligently tame their flesh, and instead of improving their health, they bring themselves to exhaustion and gastritis. It is also worth leaving the post gradually, gradually diversifying the diet a little daily.

HOW TO FAST CORRECTLY: 7 RULES

1. There are small portions 6-7 times a day.

2. Drink more water to maintain water balance in the body.

3. As a substitute for meat, include in the diet mushrooms rich in protein, vitamins D and PP, as well as legumes - beans, lentils, peas, which are also a source of protein.

4. Do not forget about another protein supplier - nuts - which also contain calcium, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, folic acid, vitamins E and A. An additional plus of nuts in a low glycemic index, which protects against spikes in blood sugar and does not allow appetite to break out.

5. Include cereals in your diet, as they contain a lot of different vitamins, minerals, trace elements and biologically active substances.

6. Remember that during fasting, the most healthy vegetables are potatoes, eggplant and cabbage: white, Beijing, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kohlrabi. You can eat vegetables in any form, but the less heat treatment, the better.

7. From sweets, limit yourself to fruits, dried fruits and honey.

It starts on Monday great post. A time that is recommended to be spent in silence, calmness and abstinence. 40 days should refrain from social networks and serials, do not allow negative emotions and thoughts, exclude from the diet any products of animal origin. Even if you are not too orthodox, we highly recommend trying to stick to the established rules during this entire period. Firstly, this is an excellent detox that will help you lose weight gained over the winter, avoid vitamin deficiency and improve intestinal microflora. Secondly, this perfect way put your thoughts in order, adjust your goals and plans for the future, be alone with yourself. Thirdly, instead of entertainment, read long-delayed useful non-fiction books, improve your English level or take an online training course. In general, Great Lent is 40 days that can be spent with maximum benefit for your own soul, body and intellect.

There are quite strictly regulated food regulations for each day of Lent. They are very severe, but it must be understood that in Orthodox tradition there are no separate rules for monks and ordinary people. So these rules should be strictly adhered to by church employees, while everyone else can make themselves one or another indulgence. In addition, travelers, pregnant women, children, the elderly and the sick are not allowed to fast.

For everyone else there is one important rule- for almost all 40 days, follow a strict vegan diet, completely eliminating alcohol and any animal products from the diet: meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, dairy products.

For those who are going to fast for the first time, we clarify - this list also includes cappuccino and latte with regular milk, milk chocolate, most pastries and desserts. At the time of buying finished products just read the packaging carefully. In addition, many large supermarkets make a separate rack with lean products or mark them with special stickers.

Starvation

In these days of Great Lent, complete abstinence from food is recommended, that is, you need to starve. Only drinking water is allowed. Evaluate your own mental and physical forces how much you can get through a day without food. If you have any chronic diseases or health problems, then you should consult your doctor about fasting and strict fasting days.

Separately, I would like to note soy products, which during the days of Great Lent are an excellent source of protein, replacing animal proteins. Prepared from soy delicious cottage cheese or a cheese called tofu, which can be simply sautéed with vegetables or made into imitation scrambled eggs or syrniki. Soy milk is a great alternative to cow's milk - you can make cappuccino and lattes with it, cook cereals on it, cook pastries and lean pancakes.

If you are fasting and would like to know what you can eat during this period and what is prohibited, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the list of products. Do not think that by fasting, you will starve and not eat up. A properly selected menu and knowledge of the main products containing fats, carbohydrates and proteins will allow you to easily observe the holy cleansing, and even lose those extra pounds.

You can also eat dried fruits, nuts, pasta, cookies and bread (without eggs and egg powder). You can cook delicious pastries, pies, most importantly without the addition of animal fats and eggs. Fish is allowed twice during the entire fast: on the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos and on Palm Sunday. If you find it hard to fast without fish, then it is better to replace it with soy products. Even on holidays you can drink a small amount of wine.

In fact, modern priests, speaking about fasting, note that this is a restriction that a person must make for himself. For some people, it is enough to give up only meat, while eating dairy products, while someone needs to adhere to fasting according to all the canons.

Great Lent lasts exactly 48 days or 7 weeks and includes Holy Forty (a period of 40 days: five full weeks(5 weeks of Great Lent) and the sixth week from Monday to Friday (6th week of Great Lent), Lazarus Saturday, Palm Sunday and Holy Week.

Great Lent is one of the longest and most difficult fasts in Christianity, it is believed that at this time, through the renunciation of habitual food and worldly entertainment, a person cleanses his soul, thinks about his actions and repents of sins. A fasting person must be weak physical body, but strong in his soul (spirit).

However, this post greatly restricts a person in food. What dishes can you eat during this period so as not to deviate from church prescriptions, but at the same time help your body withstand fairly severe restrictions?

During Lent, it is necessary to completely exclude alcohol, cigarettes and foods that are quite familiar to most people: meat, fish, eggs, cheese, milk, dairy and lactic acid products, vegetable and animal oils, soft drinks. White bread, bakery and pasta, sweets.

Allowed to eat vegetables, fruits, water, coarse grinding, some cereals, salted and pickled vegetables. You can safely introduce greens, mushrooms, berries, honey, jam, nuts, legumes and other plant foods into the diet. From drinks during fasting, you can find tea, compote or jelly on the menu. Moreover, during Great Lent there are days of the week when the fasting person is forbidden to eat any food. There are also days when you can introduce a little vegetable oil, fish, caviar and wine into your diet.

One nuance that may arise when choosing allowed food for Lent should be taken into account: some foods may contain animal ingredients. They are also forbidden to be used for food at this time: for example, cookies may contain milk or butter. Therefore, before buying, you need to carefully study the composition of the product.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday are dry days. At this time you can not work hot working products, add vegetable oils to ready meals. You can eat black bread, vegetables and fruits (fruit or vegetable salads), drink water and compotes.

Tuesday and Thursday - you can eat hot food without adding oil: vegetable soups, stewed vegetables, cereals on the water, from cereals, fruits and vegetables.

On Saturday and Sunday (weekends), can be added to prepared food(including heat treatment) vegetable oil.

The first week (first week) of Great Lent begins on Clean Monday. This day is considered special and throughout the day it is not recommended to eat food, you can only drink water. The entire first week is also considered strict, during this week only water and bread are allowed. But such a strict rule of the first week is difficult for modern man who is busy heavy physical labor. Therefore, fasting days may differ slightly for a monk who deliberately chose the vow of a fasting life from a person who is busy with everyday hard work, but at the same time who wants to observe Great Lent. Also considered strict is the last week of fasting - Holy Week.

On dry days you can cook vegetables or fruit salads, instead of oil we use lemon, lime, grapefruit juice.

The pacification of the body is considered the first step to the humility of the spirit, according to Christian beliefs. When you start fasting, you must also abstain spiritually. Thus, a Christian is cleansed of bad emotions, learns to restrain the negative. Without observing the spiritual rules of conduct, fasting becomes a normal diet.

What to eat in Lent from cereals

Kashi is one of the most important components of the Lenten table. Of course, cereals should be boiled in water without adding butter. However, such a restriction does not mean at all that the porridge will be tasteless. First, there are many different cereal crops that can diversify the menu. Take a closer look at the supermarket: on the shelves with cereals you will find where more options than the usual buckwheat, rice, pearl barley.

Secondly, in fasting, it is allowed to eat many foods that can improve the taste of any porridge. For example, you can add raisins, dried apricots, nuts, carrots, mushrooms. In this matter, you can safely rely on your imagination and experiment with tastes.

Also, don't forget prosers. So called germinated grains of wheat, oats, corn. These products contain over 30 percent vegetable protein, as well as many macro- and microelements. Regular use of prozers, not even in fasting, will provide the body necessary quantity vitamins and nutrients, prevent the development a large number diseases.
