Rating of unacceptable professions. The most unprestigious male professions in the USSR

As sociological surveys of five to ten years ago show, the ratings of professions have changed. What was previously considered non-prestigious, today already acts on an equal footing with generally accepted prestigious specialties.

What is the prestige of this or that profession? According to the applicants themselves - in the absence of specialized education for those who work in these positions.

Freelancer

Working in free mode, even five years ago, was considered something of an idleness. General condemnation was unavoidable. And today, many young people seek to work in a free regime, even if it is hired labor.

Courier

There is a significant difference between the perception of some professions in the 2000s and today. The courier was considered something like an errand man. Now this is an opportunity to honestly earn money, additional income for young people who are not used to sitting idly by.

Businessman

The one who bought up fifteen years ago bore the stigma of a speculator. Today, most of the small and medium-sized businesses are built on this. But for some reason, no one considers this occupation something shameful. On the contrary, everyone sees profitability, they strive to find their own niche and grab their piece of profit.

Salesman

Sales consultant - today this profession, although not on the honorary list, but the attitude towards it has changed significantly. This is a person who strives to be realized, starting from the lowest levels, he moves up the career ladder quite quickly.

Service staff

Cleaning lady - yesterday and today, these are also completely different categories of people. A portrait of a typical representative of this profession ten years ago looked something like this: a dirty, torn dressing gown, galoshes, slippers, a scarf on her head and a tin bucket in her hands. Today, the status of the cleaning lady has changed markedly. There was respect for the hard physical labor that she performs. Special education is still not required here, but knowledge and skills are still necessary. Today, cleaning companies use new methods of cleaning surfaces, modern equipment greatly facilitates manual labor. The cleaner needs to know and understand what and where to apply, mix in order to achieve maximum efficiency in her work.

What is really embarrassing is not working when you are healthy, full of energy and continue to philosophize on the couch. It's time to act and look for a job with GorodRabot.ru!

To the question of who you want to become, we are used to answering from childhood. And what would the Russians never do, even if they are promised a lot of money? Portal research center commissioned by Vedomosti

The survey involved 8300 respondents - representatives of 19 professions: accountants, sales managers, lawyers, engineers, sales consultants, economists, executives, secretaries, office managers, account managers, personnel managers, storekeepers, programmers, teachers / teachers, doctors, designers, security guards, foremen, technologists.

A curious pattern emerged: very often people categorically reject a profession that is essentially adjacent to their own or do not want to become like those with whom they work side by side on a daily basis. It seems that professional jealousy, personal ambitions (including unfulfilled ones) and other subjective psychological factors often affected the results of the survey. Therefore, the slogan “all professions are needed, all professions are important”, of course, remains in force. It is more about professional prejudice and hostility between workers in different fields.

Least of all in Russia people want to work as sellers. One in ten (10%) respondents said this. Since the 90s, the time of the "shuttle trade" and the revival of the free market, selling is one of the easiest ways to work. The positions of sellers, sales managers, trade consultants have not left the first lines of the demand ratings from employers for more than one year, and today the ratio of supply and demand for these positions on the site is only 2 resumes per . And since it’s often easy to fill a “salesperson” job, it’s not uncommon for people to cheat on their favorite but poorly paid job for a salary and a percentage of sales. Few manage to achieve success in this area and make a career, and for every “sales genius” there are many who think that they have betrayed a dream and feel annoyed.

Another 8% of Russians, apparently, have fresh in their memory the threats of their parents “if you don’t study, you will become a cleaner!” 5% also applies to the craft of a janitor. 8% of respondents indicated that the most unacceptable for them is the sphere of intimate services (the percentage is small, but it’s not a matter of a decline in morals: many people didn’t even think of this option, and they simply didn’t remember about it). 4% of Russians would not agree to become a doctor, a killer or a waiter for any money. Among the unpopular professions that gained 1-2% are a teacher, a conductor, a policeman, a loader, a stripper, a security guard, a bank debt collector, a funeral service worker, a pathologist, a vacuum cleaner, a secretary, a manager, a driver, a worker, etc. 27% of respondents in called any other work as unacceptable for themselves. And only every twentieth said that he had no prejudices in the professional sphere.

It is curious that HR managers and programmers (16% each) or accountants (10%) would like to engage in sales less than others. 15% of office managers would abruptly turn down an offer to become a cleaner. 13% of secretaries consider even a hint of sexual services offensive to themselves. Every tenth security guard and salesman would not go to the janitors for anything. Security guards, as well as engineers, would not like to work as policemen more than others. Doctors are disgusted by the profession of a pathologist, and HR managers are disgusted by work in a ritual service. A lawyer will not agree to be a collector, and a programmer will not become an operator in a call center. However, IT-specialists would also not want to work in the criminal business, to be loaders, collectors or strippers, just like construction superintendents - sewers. But for a leader, any profession is usually acceptable - except, perhaps, service in the police (on average, 2% would not go to law enforcement agencies, and 5% among executives).

Less than others would like to become doctors accountants and designers (6% each). And the doctors themselves, even if they were offered to become president, would have refused with the same categoricalness (4%). And they would not have become drivers either (3%).

The motives for which people would not become doctors are quite humane: "the price of a mistake is too high." Otherwise, Russians are deterred by hard physical labor, disrespect on the part of colleagues, and poor working conditions. Our fellow citizens do not want to come into conflict with the law - even for the biggest money. Many honestly admit that they would not have enough knowledge for a particular profession, which means that there is no need to even try - “only disgrace”. However, the Russians said, “if there is no money, you will go to work in any profession”, “hunger is not an aunt.”

To the question of who you want to become, we are used to answering from childhood. And what would the Russians never do, even if they are promised a lot of money? Portal Research Center on Order Vedomosti found out which areas of activity are considered the most unpopular among our fellow citizens, given that representatives of each profession built such an anti-rating in their own way.

Basically, a young person chooses this particular profession not because he is attracted by the labor process and its content (he still does not really know, has not felt all the advantages and disadvantages of the chosen professions), a young person rather chooses a certain way of life, where the profession is only one thing. from the means of building your happiness. This is precisely what explains the choice of professions such as a lawyer or an economist by many adolescents and young people: by themselves, these professions are unlikely to be of interest to most young people (working with regulations and financial reports is still “an amateur”), but it is precisely these professions still allow a person to earn a lot and build a certain, “rich”, “comfortable”, and most necessary - “prestigious” lifestyle.

A teenager who is self-determining has a risk of making a mistake in his choice when the prestige of professions changes: he was guided by prestige and “elitism”, but ended up among the so-called losers, in the mass of a huge number of unclaimed specialists.

Just making teenagers think about the future is not enough. We must provide them with the means to reflect on these difficult problems. But these problems are indeed the most complex and important, since we are talking about social forecasting. If you do not understand in time where our country is moving, you can make a big mistake with your professional choice, because it is not clear in which "space" to self-determine.

True professional self-determination is influenced by self-knowledge and self-esteem. If they are not correct, a wrong self-determination occurs. Unfortunately, correct self-assessment is available to a small number of students. Basically, they tend to either overestimate themselves or underestimate themselves.

The prestige of a profession is determined by the content (share of creative functions, creative functions, creative nature) of this type of labor and the degree of popularity of the profession. Work that involves monotonous manual operations or does not give prospects for career growth leads to a low prestige of the corresponding professions. When it comes to prestige and popularity, one should not forget about social and psychological factors. Even the name of the profession matters here: there are cases when its change significantly increased the prestige of this profession.

The list of aspects by which the most prestigious profession is determined is varied. It contains the conditions and level of salary, confidence in the stability of one's position, the opportunity for creativity, free work schedule, career advancement opportunities, access to power, work abroad, independence, etc.

When choosing a future specialty, each of us, as a rule, strives to get one of the most prestigious and popular professions and be in demand, a highly paid specialist in a few years. In order not to be mistaken at the initial stage, it is worth considering the fact that the type of professions in demand changes every five years, and the demand and prestige itself depend on many factors, such as: the political and economic situation in the country, the technological process of development of a certain region. Therefore, linking your life with a particular profession, you need to carefully consider and analyze its features, as well as possible combinations of the chosen profession with any other.

I present the opinion of experts, according to which, by 2016-2017, the “ten” most prestigious and sought-after professions will look like this:

Engineers. Due to the fact that large-scale city-forming industries are emerging in some of the largest cities and regions of the country, as well as international industrial partnerships are rapidly developing, there is already an acute shortage of professional engineers, technicians and middle managers in production. A combination of technical and economic or legal education, knowledge of English or any other European language will be especially appreciated.

IT professionals and computer hardware developers. And Information technologies and communications are the most rapidly developing area at the moment all over the world and in Russia in particular. It is expected that for several decades the specialists who create, debug software and maintain its performance, professionals in the field of digital terrestrial broadcasting, as well as web design specialists will be among the most sought after and highly paid.

Specialists in the field of nanotechnology. Since at the moment in Russia the development and implementation of nanotechnologies (technologies based on working with molecules and atoms) is a federal target program of the government, then, of course, in the near future, the demand for nanotechnologists will grow in almost all areas: in mechanical engineering, in space technologies, in the food industry, as well as in medicine.

Specialists combining electronics and biotechnology. Biotechnologies that use biological systems and their elements are widely used today in agriculture, where genetically modified products are obtained using genetic engineering and microbiological methods. In addition, they are used in molecular medicine, biopharmaceutical industries and other industries. The purpose of scientific developments may be, for example, the creation of new power sources or electronic circuits based on living microorganisms.

Marketers. According to experts, in ten years there will be a glut in the Russian market of goods and services, therefore, the country will need marketers - strategists of companies whose task is to manage a system focused on the production of various benefits and satisfying the interests of producers and consumers; conduct market research, develop business plans, offer the most profitable options for investing the company's money.

Service specialists. The growth in demand for professions in the service sector in the next decade is due to the need of the country's population for quality service. Therefore, there will be an increasing need for such specialists as private doctors, lawyers, teachers, medical workers, psychologists, image makers, managers, specialists in the field of creating official and entertainment events, employees of cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, shops.

Logistics. Russia's entry into the world market will provoke the need for professional logisticians involved in the theory and practice of managing material and information flows in the process of goods distribution.

Ecologists. It is assumed that in the future, environmental issues will take an increasing place. In accordance with this, the demand for professional ecologists with knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, computer modeling skills and natural processes will increase.

Medical professionals associated with the search for means of prolonging life. In ten years, experts in the field of medicine predict in our country the introduction into practice of the achievements already developed at the moment in the field of electronics and biotechnology related to the search for means of extending human life. Hence, this will entail the need for practitioners.

Chemists. Specialists in the field of chemistry, first of all, will be in demand in the field of energy, because now work is underway on the development of alternative energy sources, despite the existing oil reserves.

Finishing the first chapter of the course work, you can do the following conclusion.

Professional self-determination is a multi-dimensional and multi-stage process in which the tasks of society are identified and an individual lifestyle is formed, part of which is professional activity. The period of youth is a period of self-determination. Social, personal, professional, spiritual and practical self-determination is the main task of adolescence. The process of self-determination is based on the choice of the future field of activity. Professional self-determination is associated with the tasks of social and personal self-determination, with the definition of life prospects, with the design of the future. The main goal of professional self-determination is the gradual formation of internal readiness to independently and consciously plan, adjust and realize the prospects for one's development (professional, life, personal).
