iPhone says no internet connection. iPhone not connecting to WiFi: possible causes and solutions

I will show you how to solve the problem with the Internet in the iPhone, if the Internet does not work for you or the Internet is buggy.

This problem occurred frequently during the time of iOS 8.0, and maybe at this time the operators updated or additionally configured their networks. In any case, if the Internet on your iPhone does not work or is buggy, then here are my methods.

1. Turn on and off the airplane mode

Swipe up from the bottom to open the curtain, in which there is an airplane icon on the left - this is the airplane mode.

Turn on airplane mode for a couple of seconds. In air mode, cellular communications and all communication modules (bluetooth, wi-fi, 3G ....) are turned off.

Then click on the airplane mode icon again to turn it off and turn on cellular and all communication modules. So we reloaded them.

If this does not help, then try the second method.

2. Disable and enable Internet and 3G

Go to Settings - Cellular.

Disable 3G and Cellular data for a couple of seconds.

Then turn on Cellular Data and 3G again.

If this method did not help, then go to the third method.

3. Reset network settings

Go to Settings - General - Reset. And select Reset network settings. we will be asked Network settings will be deleted and returned to factory settings. Click Reset Settings.

You may need to enter a password. The device is rebooting.

The network settings will be reset to factory defaults. You will need to re-enter the passwords for Wi-Fi networks, and you do not need to enter anything to use the mobile Internet (these settings are issued automatically by the operator).

But keep in mind sometimes it’s not the iPhone, but the telecom operator, which, even if you call them and complain about the problem, they still don’t recognize it, so in this case you just have to wait. Well, or you can switch to another operator (mts, beeline, megaphone and others).

I also advise for the safety of your iPhone:

The Internet has become an integral part of modern life. It is difficult to imagine a smartphone owner who does not use a mobile network, does not surf the Internet or does not communicate on social networks from the phone.

In order to have access to the World Wide Web, you will have to configure the device. Usually this procedure does not take much time. Next, you have to figure out how to set up the Internet on the iPhone 5S.

What should every user know about this process? What options for setting up the Internet on "apple" devices will help access the World Wide Web? All this will be discussed later! In fact, even a novice user is able to bring an idea to life in a few minutes!

Working networks

To begin with, one important fact needs to be clarified - mobile device owners can work with different types of Internet. Depending on it, the algorithm of actions when setting up access to the network will change. Despite this, all the proposed connection options are quite easy to learn.

I wonder how to set up the Internet on the "iPhone 5S"? Then you have to decide which specific network to use. Today, the iPhone can work with the following types of Internet access:

  • WiFi:

More and more users are trying to use Wi-Fi and 4G network. In fact, the difference between setting these connections is not critical. What should every owner of an "apple" phone know before starting to work with the Internet and setting it up?

Mobile Internet

Let's start with the most common option - connections. How to set up the Internet on the "iPhone 5S"? "Tele2" or any other mobile operator - it doesn't matter what company we are talking about. The main thing is that the smartphone owner will have to configure the device for normal operation with mobile Internet.

What will be required for this? Need:

  1. Insert SIM card into iPhone. After that, it is advisable to choose the most favorable tariff plan for working with the Internet and connect it.
  2. Go to "Settings" on your phone.
  3. Open the "Cellular" menu.
  4. Set the switch opposite the inscription "Cellular Data" to the "Enabled" mode. At the same time, the green indicator next to it will light up.
  5. Click on "Cellular Data Network".
  6. How to set up internet on iPhone 5S? "Beeline", "Megafon", "MTS" or "Tele2" - it doesn't matter. In the window that opens, you will have to enter data for accessing the Internet. We are talking about the username, login password and APN.
  7. Click on the "Save" button.
  8. Move the pointer opposite "Enable LTE" to active mode.

Nothing else is needed. From now on, it’s clear how to set up the Internet on the iPhone 5S. Problems can only arise with the search for network access data.

For "MTS"

But it is quite a solvable task. In general, it is recommended that you check with your mobile operator for information that needs to be entered in the "Cellular data network" menu. This is the only way to be 100% connected to the mobile network.

You can use the generally accepted rules for each telecom operator. How to set up internet on iPhone 5S? MTS offers the following login details:

  1. APN is a special combination that indicates which network you are connecting to. In our case, it is necessary to write internet.mts.ru in this field.
  2. Username - company name in Latin. To be more precise, mts is written in this line.
  3. Password - it is similar to the username.

Accordingly, after entering the proposed data and saving them, you can access the Internet from the MTS SIM card. What other options are possible?

For "Beeline"

How to set up internet on iPhone 5S? Beeline proposes to act in exactly the same way as MTS. The only difference is that the data used will be fundamentally different.

If the owner of an "apple" phone has a Beeline SIM card inserted, he needs to enter the following data to connect to the World Wide Web:

  1. APN - almost completely reproduces the previously proposed inscription. But in this case, it will look like internet.beeline.ru.
  2. The password is the name of the operator. It must be written in Latin. To be more precise, the password for connecting is beeline. Everything is written in small letters.
  3. Username - you need to copy the password.

It can be seen that in general the algorithm of actions remains the same. Setting up mobile Internet with Beeline is as simple as with MTS.

For Megafon subscribers

But what if the user decides to insert a Megafon SIM card into a mobile device? There is no reason to panic. Using the example of the first two operators, it was possible to make sure that setting up a mobile network is an extremely simple task that does not depend on the service company. What to do in this case?

How to set up internet on iPhone 5S? Megafon provides the following data for setting up a mobile network:

  1. The name is gdata.
  2. Password - repeat the network name.
  3. APN - in this case, the information looks primitive. It is enough to write simply internet in the corresponding line.

Important: for successful network setup when working with Megafon, you can leave the "Password" and "Name" fields empty. This variant of the development of events is perceived without errors and failures.

Working with 4G

Now we can talk a little about how to properly work with the 4G network. This connection raises many questions among users. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with such a network and its configuration.

The first thing the owner of "apple" products should remember is that before connecting to 4G, you need to buy a SIM card that supports this type of data transfer. This feature is recommended to specify when buying a SIM card.

The second nuance is the operating system. Before you think about how to set up the Internet on iPhone 5S by connecting to 4G, you must have a new version of the operating system (iOS 7.0.4 and later).

Ready? Then the following algorithms are offered to the user's attention:

  1. Connect to the mobile Internet using the previously proposed methods.
  2. Open "Settings" - "Software Update".
  3. Click on "Update".
  4. Agree with the update and wait.
  5. Enable the LTE option in the "Networks" settings.

If everything was done correctly, then LTE will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. This means that a 4G connection has occurred.

You can resort to another option. It will be of interest to those who have a computer at hand. The user needs:

  1. Connect iPhone to PC with a wire.
  2. Launch iTunes. In the "General" menu, select "Update Software...". Agree with the process.
  3. Disconnect iPhone 5S from computer. Go to "Settings" - "Networks". Enable the LTE option.

From now on, it is clear how to set up mobile Internet on the iPhone 5S. There is one more very interesting trick left.

Working with Wi-Fi

It's about connecting wirelessly. Wi-Fi on a smartphone as a network access is in great demand. You can connect to the Internet using this option almost anywhere.

How to set up the Internet on the Chinese "iPhone 5S" using Wi-Fi? Would need:

  1. Turn on iPhone. Go to the "Settings" section.
  2. Select Wi-Fi.
  3. Move the switch indicating work with Wi-Fi to the "Enabled" state.
  4. Wait. A list of available connections will appear. Select the desired line.
  5. If necessary, enter your login information. More precisely, you will need a password from the wireless network.

You can close settings. If everything was done correctly, the user will be able to access the Internet without much difficulty. It is proposed to check the connection using the browser. Or you can look at the upper left corner - there will be an indicator with the Wi-Fi signal strength.

Results

From now on, it’s clear how to set up the Internet on the iPhone 5S. There is nothing supernatural in this procedure. As already mentioned, even a novice owner of an "apple" smartphone will be able to use all of the above methods of working with the network.

Usually, the help of service centers to set up and enable the Internet on the iPhone is not required. People can handle everything on their own. If you want to work with a mobile network, then it is recommended to contact your mobile operator directly for help. He will be able not only to tell about the Internet connection, but also provide the necessary network settings. In fact, everything is very simple. A few minutes - and the Internet is ready to go.

Why is the Internet not working on iPhone? - this is the question that is asked in case of problems with the connection, not only by beginners, but also by owners of "apple" technology with experience. In fact, there are not so many reasons for such a problem, and most of them are easy to fix on your own. The review below will help you fix internet on iPhone with ease.

Why the Internet does not work on iPhone 5s and other versions

The most common causes of Internet breakdowns according to service statistics and regular user surveys are:

    1. No default settings. The iPhone has no internet settings by default, so expecting an instant connection after inserting the SIM is unreasonable.
    2. After restoring or flashing, all parameters were lost. To celebrate, after a successful update or restore, some iPhone owners simply forget to re-enter data for accessing the Internet.
    3. Wrong WiFi password. Very often the Internet does not work on the iPhone 5s and other models due to a changed password to the wireless Internet access point. The old password is incorrect, which means that authentication fails.
  1. Changed communication service provider data. For example, if your MTS mobile Internet does not work on your iPhone, then you should contact the operator’s technical support for the correct Internet access settings. Do not forget to refuse all additional services, because help is help, and you need to promote paid services.
  2. Broken component inside the machine. If the MTS mobile Internet does not work on the iPhone, and technical support reports that the connection is correct, then you should not immediately scribble angry letters to the management and promise all kinds of punishment to the operator personally, because the breakdown may be in the phone itself. Diagnostics in any service will help to establish the exact cause.

We fix on the iPhone Internet

We will analyze several typical situations with problems and ways to fix them, excluding non-payment of the tariff and a faulty router (they are not related to the iPhone).

Internet not configured

Usually the Internet on the iPhone works flawlessly, but it requires initial setup. You need to act as follows:

  1. Turn on the device and wait for an SMS message about the imminent delivery of a message with parameters. If it comes, accept and activate the new Internet profile, if not, proceed to the next step.
  2. Call your carrier. It does not matter whether it is MTS, Beeline or any other operator - each mobile service provider has its own technical support. Request internet configuration settings for your iPhone model. Usually they send a configuration message, but they can also give text settings. In this case, let's move on.
  3. Enter the Internet settings on the iPhone in the settings menu for experts. If you don’t know where it is, it’s better not to look for and edit what you don’t know.

Doesn't connect to WiFi

In the case when the Internet does not work on the iPhone due to the lack of a WiFi connection, you can do the following:

  1. The connection fails: check the correctness of the password entered and the type of authorization, in case of failure, restart the router and try again. It is important to understand that it is better not to try to guess the password by brute force.
  2. Does not see the access point: turn on the router or reboot it, wait until it is fully turned on. If the problem persists, check the signal from another device.

iPhone may not connect to hotspots due to interference or other problems, but it may still be fully functional.

In this article, I want to consider solutions to various problems that you may encounter in the process of connecting an iPhone or iPad to a Wi-Fi network. I often come across questions in the comments: "what to do if the iPhone does not connect to Wi-Fi", "why the iPad does not connect to the home network", or "why the Internet does not work after connecting to a Wi-Fi network". Today I will try to answer these and other questions in detail.

I've had an iPhone for a little over a year, I've had an iPad for over 3 years, and I've never had a problem connecting to wireless networks. True, I do not often connect to new networks. Basically, my devices are always connected to my home Wi-Fi network, or I use mobile Internet. It happened that the Internet simply did not work, but it was on all devices, and the problem was in the router or provider.

Cities are now full of Wi-Fi networks. In shops, cafes, clubs, hotels, subways, or simply open wireless networks on city streets. And most often, the iPhone does not connect to these networks. Although, it is not uncommon for problems with connecting to home routers. I also often noticed reports that the iPhone does not want to connect to wireless networks in the subway. Gives a message saying "Insecure connection". We will also try to deal with this.

I think that this instruction is suitable for all phone models (iPhone 7, iPhone 6, 5, 5S, etc.) and tablets from Apple. It also doesn’t make much difference what kind of router you have: Mikrotik, TP-Link, D-Link, ASUS, etc. True, according to my observations, Apple mobile devices are not very friendly with Mikrotik routers. If you have problems connecting to someone else's network, then you will not be able to change the router settings. And this may be necessary.

We will look at solutions to the following problems and errors:

First of all:

  1. Restart your iOS device. Simultaneously pressing and holding the Home key and the Power button. Also restart your router. (power off and on) if you have access to the router. Try to connect according to the instructions:. On the iPhone, everything is exactly the same. If this method does not help, then we will look for a solution further.
  2. Find out what the problem is. To do this, try connecting another device to your (or someone else's) network. Several are possible. See if the Internet works on them. If other devices also have problems connecting or accessing the Internet, then the problem is on the side of the router or Internet provider. I will talk about some router settings later in the article. Also try connecting your iPhone to a different network. If it does not connect to any Wi-Fi network, then reset the network settings (more on this later in the article).

We try to "forget the network" on the iPhone / iPad and connect to Wi-Fi again

The "Forget this network" feature often helps to get rid of various connection problems. Especially, this method is relevant in the case when the device does not connect after changing the router settings. For example, after changing the Wi-Fi network password. And the error "Failed to connect to the network" appears, or there is a permanent connection.

Just go to Wi-Fi settings and click on the problematic network. Then click on "Forget this network" and confirm the action by clicking on the "Forget" button.

After that, try to connect again by entering the password.

Doing a hard reset of network settings on an iOS device

Another solution that completely removes all network settings on the iPhone and allows you to get rid of many Internet connection problems and restore Wi-Fi.

In the settings, open the "General" - "Reset" section and click on "Reset network settings". Next, we confirm the reset.

After that, you can try to connect your iPad, iPhone to a Wi-Fi network. If the problem persists and he does not want to connect, then most likely the problem is in the router settings (which I hope you have already reloaded).

What can I try to change in the router settings?

In the settings of your router, you can try changing the following parameters: region, operating mode, channel, channel width, encryption type.

If you are sure that you are entering everything correctly, but the iPhone still says that the password is incorrect, then you can try setting a different password in the router settings. Put some simple, 8 digits. Security settings: WPA2 (AES).

Warning: "Insecure network"

This is just a warning that you can see on your iPhone when connecting to an unsecured Wi-Fi network. By clicking on the network itself, security recommendations appear. This feature appeared in iOS 10.

If this is your home network, then of course set a password for it. If the network is not yours, then you can just use the connection. But remember, this is not entirely safe.

"No internet connection" on iPhone and iPad

In the case when the mobile device connected to the network successfully, but the sites in the browser do not open and programs cannot access the Internet, the reason is most likely on the side of the access point. Also near the name of the network may be the inscription "No Internet connection".

Check if the Internet is working on another device that is connected through the same router. If not, then see the article: p. If everything is fine on other devices, the problem with Wi-Fi is only on the iPhone, then we first reboot it. If this does not help, then reset the network settings (I wrote about it above).

Solutions to other Wi-Fi problems

Let's take a quick look at two more cases:

  1. Wi-Fi does not turn on. Inactive switch. On the Apple website, it is advised to reset the network settings. How to do this, I wrote in detail above in the article. If the reset did not help, then you can try to do a full reset of the device. But most likely you will have to contact the service center. Since this indicates a breakdown of the Wi-Fi module itself in the phone or tablet.
  2. Why doesn't iPhone connect to Wi-Fi automatically? It's most likely some kind of glitch. Since the phone always tries to automatically connect to a known wireless network to which it has already connected. I can only advise to forget the required network in the setup (more details on how to do this, I wrote above) and reconnect to the network.

I also wanted to say a few words about public and other people's Wi-Fi networks. When we are unable to connect our iPhone or iPad to such a Wi-Fi network, we need to understand that some kind of blocking may be configured there (for example, binding by MAC), or your device was simply blocked there. Since we do not have access to the access point settings, all we can do is reset the network settings on our device.

I tried to consider all the most popular and frequent cases faced by owners of mobile devices from Apple. If you have some other problem, or you know other, working solutions, then write about it in the comments. Good luck!
