Almagel and instructions for use orange. Almagel neo - instructions, indications, composition, method of application. Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction

Almagel is a long-acting antacid drug for the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The composition of the product is based on two components - magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide, which help to reduce the acidity of gastric juice and protect the gastric mucosa from damage caused by an aggressive acidic environment.

How Almagel works

The causes of acidity can be different: excitement, stress, long breaks between meals, taking drugs that provoke acid secretion, as well as alcohol abuse, spicy foods and smoking.

The active ingredients of Almagel slow down the release of pepsin, and also deactivate hydrochloric acid.

In addition to lifestyle and habits, increased acidity and heartburn are provoked by diseases of the gallbladder, liver, inflammation of the duodenum, and so on. That is, heartburn may be secondary to the underlying disease.

One way or another, Almagel is used in all cases for the purpose of mechanical protection of the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.

Indications for use

  • Ulcer of the stomach and intestines;
  • food infections of a toxic nature;
  • diaphragmatic hernia;
  • digestive disorders caused by medication, malnutrition, alcohol and other bad habits;
  • enteritis;
  • duodenitis;
  • esophagitis.

Contraindications and side effects

  • individual intolerance to the components in the composition;
  • children under the age of one month;
  • Alzheimer's disease;
  • lactation period;
  • disruption of the kidneys.

Clinical studies of the drug have shown that adverse reactions in patients are extremely rare, but treatment should still be carried out under the supervision of a physician. In case of an overdose, consequences are possible, including:

  • stomach ache;
  • weakness and drowsiness;
  • nausea and vomiting;
  • constipation;
  • swelling of the limbs;
  • temporary atrophy of taste buds.

Dosage and methods of application

Almagel

After shaking the vial, it is necessary to pour the prescribed dose into a measuring spoon:

Apply 5-10 ml (1-2 measuring spoons) 3-4 times a day 10-15 minutes before meals.

The duration of treatment with Almagel should not exceed 7 days, then the doctor may extend the course or replace the drug.

If necessary, the dosage is increased, but this can only be done by a doctor, based on the severity of the disease and the general condition of the patient.

After using the suspension, a person is not recommended to drink anything for 15-30 minutes, since the liquid will simply wash the remedy off the walls of the stomach, and the treatment of the disease will be useless. To increase the effectiveness of the drug, after its use, the patient is advised to lie down on one side, then roll over to the other. Thus, the suspension will be distributed evenly inside.

As for the interaction of Almagel with other drugs, it must be remembered that this medicine reduces the effectiveness of certain medicines, for example, antibiotics, cardiac glycosides and antihistamines.

Almagel A

Another drug from this series is Almagel A. It is very similar to the previous form, but has some differences.

The composition of the agent, for example, in addition to the already known components of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide, includes anestezin, which gives the drug a local anesthetic effect.

Indications for the use of Almagel A are the same as in the previous case, with one caveat: for correct use, all diseases of the gastrointestinal tract must be accompanied by severe pain, nausea and vomiting.

For adults, it is recommended to use the product 3-4 times a day for 10-15 minutes before meals. One of the receptions must be necessarily at night. Depending on the severity of the disease and the severity of pain, the doctor may prescribe from one to three scoops of the drug.

The course of treatment is agreed with the attending physician, but, as a rule, is 2-3 weeks. After the pain is eliminated, Almagel A is changed to Almagel.

Almagel Neo

Another variation of this antacid is Almagel Neo, also used for gastrointestinal diseases. As part of Almagel Neo, in addition to the two main substances that are present in all preparations of this line, there is simethicone.

This component completely destroys gas bubbles and prevents the formation of new ones. Therefore, the drug is recommended for use in diseases of the digestive system and stomach, accompanied by increased bloating and gas formation.

Adults and children over 14 years old 10-15 ml (2-3 scoops) or 1 sachet 4 times a day 1 hour after meals and at bedtime.

Almagel T

Tablets Almagel T - an analogue of Almagel. They differ in composition, but they have an effect on the body similar to Almagel in liquid form.

The active substance of tablets magaldrat. It inhibits the activity of pepsin and neutralizes the excessive acidity of the stomach, preventing the dangerous effects of bile acids on the mucosa.

Almagel T is used mainly for the symptomatic treatment of pain and hyperacidity of the stomach in such ailments as:

  • gastroesophageal reflux disease;
  • acute and chronic gastritis;
  • erosion and ulcers of the stomach and intestines;
  • non-ulcer dyspepsia;
  • drug damage to the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines;
  • with irritation of the mucous membranes of the digestive tract with spicy or fatty foods.

Tablets are contraindicated for people:

  • with hypersensitivity to the main substance and other components of the drug;
  • kidney failure;
  • fructose intolerance;
  • hypophosphatemia;
  • Alzheimer's disease;
  • children under 10 years old;
  • pregnant women in the 1st trimester.

If the symptoms of heartburn and pain appear at night, Almagel T is recommended to be taken at night. In the complex treatment of the disease, using other medications, the drug should be used one hour before or one hour after taking another medication. At the time of therapy, it is necessary to stop drinking alcohol and caffeine. Before using the drug, you should always consult with your doctor, as unwanted side effects may occur.

Enveloping and adsorbing drug. Some publications say Almagel Neo.

Composition of Almagel Neo
Almagel Neo is available as a suspension for oral administration of white or almost white color with a sweetish taste and smell of orange. The suspension is either in dark-colored glass bottles with a volume of 170 ml or in sachets of 10 ml (currently Almagel Neo is not sold in sachets in Russia).

Active ingredient matches for Almagel Neo: algeldrate + magnesium hydroxide + simethicone ( algeldrate + magnesium hydroxide + simeticone).

5 ml of Almagel Neo suspension (one measuring spoon) contains 340 mg of aluminum hydroxide, 395 mg of magnesium hydroxide, 36 mg of simethicone. One sachet of Almagel Neo contains 680 mg of aluminum hydroxide, 790 mg of magnesium hydroxide and 72 mg of simethicone.

Excipients of Almagel Neo: sorbitol, hydroxyethyl cellulose, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium saccharin, citric acid, essence, ethyl alcohol, purified water.

During storage of Almagel Neo, a layer of clear liquid may form on the surface of the suspension. When shaking the vial, the homogeneity of the suspension is restored.

Pharmaceutical action of Almagel Neo
Almagel Neo is a new multi-component cationic non-absorbable topical antacid drug with an optimal ratio of Al:Mg = 0.86, which has powerful buffering properties. Almagel Neo is able to maintain acidity in the stomach for a long time in the range of 3.5–4.0, which prevents the “withdrawal” or “acid rebound” syndrome and has a pronounced acid-neutralizing effect. Almagel Neo has good adsorption activity for pepsin and bile acids, enhances mucus formation and synthesis of prostaglandins E 2, envelops the mucous membrane and has a cytoprotective effect, forms a protective film on damaged tissue and enhances the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter. Almagel Neo begins to act 3-5 minutes after ingestion. Duration of action Almagel Neo - up to 3 hours. The main difference between Almagel Neo and other antacid preparations is that, in addition to aluminum and magnesium salts, it contains a surfactant that prevents the formation and promotes the destruction of gas bubbles in mucus and suspension of gastrointestinal contents - simethicone. Under the influence of simethicone, gases are released, which are absorbed by the intestinal walls or excreted from the body as a result of peristalsis. Simethicone acts throughout the digestive tract and, being an inert compound, does not affect the absorption of other substances, does not accumulate and does not contribute to cumulation, does not change the acidity and chemical environment of the intestinal contents, is excreted from the body unchanged. When used in combination with antacids, simethicone enhances their enveloping effect. Simethicone is a carminative that eliminates the clinical manifestations of flatulence, such as pain, belching with air, bloating, fullness, rumbling in the abdomen (Almagel Neo: "buffer" for the stomach - "lightning rod" for the intestines).
Indications for use Almagel Neo
Gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastritis, esophagitis, duodenitis (with flatulence).

PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

Pharmacodynamics
Almagel is a drug that is a balanced combination of algeldrate (aluminum hydroxide) and magnesium hydroxide. It neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reduces the activity of pepsin, which leads to a decrease in the digestive activity of gastric juice. It has an enveloping, adsorbing effect. Protects the gastric mucosa by stimulating the synthesis of prostaglandins (cytoprotective action).
This protects the mucous membrane from inflammatory and erosive-hemorrhagic lesions as a result of the use of irritating and ulcerogenic agents such as ethyl alcohol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (eg, indomethacin, diclofenac, aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, corticosteroid drugs). The therapeutic effect after taking the drug occurs after 3-5 minutes. The duration of action depends on the rate of gastric emptying. When taken on an empty stomach, the action lasts up to 60 minutes. When taken one hour after a meal, the antacid effect can last up to 3 hours.

Does not cause secondary hypersecretion of gastric juice.

Pharmacokinetics

Before each dose, the suspension must be thoroughly homogenized by shaking the vial!

For prevention
5-15 ml 15 minutes before taking medications with an irritating effect.

SIDE EFFECT
Almagel can cause constipation, which disappears after a dose reduction. In rare cases, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, changes in taste sensations, allergic reactions and hypermagnesemia (increased levels of magnesium in the blood) are observed. With prolonged use of the drug by patients with renal insufficiency and on dialysis, changes in mood and mental activity are possible. With prolonged use of high doses of the drug, along with a deficiency of phosphorus in food, osteomalacia may occur.

OVERDOSE
With a single dose excess, no other signs of overdose are observed except for constipation, flatulence, and a metallic taste in the mouth.

With prolonged use of high doses, the formation of kidney stones, the appearance of severe constipation, slight drowsiness, hypermagnesemia are possible. There may also be signs of metabolic alkalosis: changes in mood or mental activity, numbness or muscle pain, irritability and fatigue, slow breathing, unpleasant taste sensations.

In these cases, it is necessary to immediately take measures to quickly remove the drug from the body - gastric lavage, stimulation of vomiting, intake of activated charcoal.

INTERACTION WITH OTHER DRUGS
It can absorb some drugs, thus reducing their absorption, therefore, while taking other drugs, they must be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking Almagel.

Almagel reduces the acidity of gastric juice, and this can affect the effect of a large number of drugs while taking.

Almagel reduces the effect of histamine H2 receptor blockers (cimetidine, ranitidine, famotidine), cardiac glycosides, iron salts, lithium, quinidine, mexiletine, phenothiazine drugs, tetracycline antibiotics, ciprofloxacin, isoniazid and ketoconazole.

With the simultaneous administration of enteric drugs, an increased pH of the gastric juice can lead to an accelerated violation of their membrane and cause irritation of the stomach and duodenum.

Almagel may affect the results of some laboratory and functional studies and tests: it reduces the level of gastric secretion when determining its acidity; alters the results of tests using technetium (TC99), such as bone scan and some tests for examining the esophagus, increases serum phosphorus levels, serum and urine pH values.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The use of the drug in patients with severe constipation is not recommended; with pain in the stomach of unknown origin and suspected acute appendicitis; in the presence of ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis, colostomy or ileostomy; with chronic diarrhea; acute hemorrhoids; when changing the acid-base balance in the body, as well as in the presence of metabolic alkalosis; with cirrhosis of the liver; severe heart failure; with toxicosis of pregnant women; with impaired renal function (creatinine clearance) With prolonged use of the drug (more than 20 days), regular medical monitoring of serum magnesium levels is necessary in the treatment of patients with renal insufficiency.

The drug does not contain sugar, which allows it to be taken by patients with diabetes mellitus. The drug contains sorbitol, which is contraindicated in congenital fructose intolerance.

It has long been known as an indispensable drug for various ulcerative and inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract. Most often, Almagel is taken in the form of a suspension (ready-made or powder for dilution), since it is most effective in the liquid state, tablets are prescribed in exceptional cases.

Heartburn - indications for the appointment of Almagel in sachets

Almagel in sachets is available in 3 forms: Almagel (green packaging), (yellow packaging), Almagel Neo (red packaging). All of these varieties have in their composition two main active ingredients, which provide the protective effect of the drug. These are aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. The combination of these components provides the following actions of the drug:

  1. Adsorbent. Almagel absorbs harmful substances that irritate the gastric mucosa. It binds and removes toxins from the body.
  2. Protective. The drug envelops the walls of the stomach, creating a thin film. This film protects the inflamed walls from the effects of gastric juice, allowing the mucosa to recover and relieve pain.
  3. Neutralizing. The drug lowers the acidity of gastric juice. With an ulcer and other inflammations of the gastrointestinal tract, an aggressive effect causes a sharp pain.
  4. Mild laxative. Almagel is not a laxative, but a combination of certain components helps prevent constipation. It has been proven that patients who completed the Almagel course had no problems with stool regularity.

In addition to these components, Almagel A includes benzocaine, which is a powerful anesthetic. It is recommended for people with during an exacerbation of the disease. Almagel Neo helps to cope with increased gas formation. It contains a substance called simethicone, which keeps gas from building up and prevents bloating. Indications for the use of Almagel are the following diseases:

  1. and duodenum. An ulcer is always accompanied by severe abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea and constipation. All these symptoms are relieved by Almagel A.
  2. Gastritis, even in chronic form, periodically reminds of itself with pain in the abdomen. Almagel allows you to relieve pain after eating.
  3. This is inflammation of the duodenum, which is also accompanied by pain of varying intensity, nausea, and discomfort after eating.
  4. Enteritis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the small intestine. Almagel is prescribed as part of therapy to relieve symptoms and prevent constipation.

Rules for taking the drug

Almagel should be taken before meals

Almagel is taken before meals, 30 minutes in advance, for best results, and also at bedtime. The powder must be diluted in water, mix thoroughly. Take 1-3 teaspoons at a time. During the period of exacerbation, you can take Almagel between meals, but not more than 4 tablespoons at a time.

It should be remembered that the protective shell that forms on the walls of the stomach can reduce the absorption of other drugs, so at least 2 hours should elapse between taking Almagel and another medication.

After the main course of treatment has already been completed, the dosage can be reduced and Almagel can be taken for prevention. The daily dose of an adult should be limited to 16 tablespoons. If, according to the doctor's indications, the dosage has to be exceeded, the course of treatment should be short, no more than 2 weeks.

You can change the type of drug. For example, if the disease is accompanied by pain, it is recommended to start treatment with Almagel A. When the condition becomes more stable, the pain subsides, you can switch to regular Almagel.

Almagel reduces the effect of antihistamines, some antibiotics. The drug removes phosphorus from the body and disrupts the absorption of phosphates, so doctors recommend taking additional phosphorus preparations for long-term treatment.

Almagel Neo is taken not before, but after a meal, about an hour later. After taking the drug, you must refuse to take liquids for at least half an hour.

An overdose of Almagel is unlikely, except for Almagel Neo. With prolonged use, redness of the skin, muscle pain, numbness, behavioral disorders, nervousness, and an unpleasant taste in the mouth are observed. All these conditions are caused by a violation of the proper metabolism of trace elements, namely phosphorus, calcium and magnesium. If these signs or any other discomfort appear, stop taking the drug and seek medical help. In severe cases, it is necessary to wash the stomach and take

The drug can be taken not in courses, but one-time in case of discomfort and after a violation of the diet, drinking alcohol or smoking. In case of renal insufficiency, prolonged use of Almagel can cause swelling of the extremities. With fluid retention, you should take a diuretic, and also seek the advice of a doctor. In some cases, the drug must be replaced by an analogue.

Almagel for children and pregnant women

Almagel is prescribed to children both for ulcers and gastritis (in older children), and as an adsorbent and drug (in infants). The previous dosage is for children over 10 years of age. Younger children need to reduce the dosage by half. Almagel Neo is contraindicated for children under 10 years old, while regular Almagel and Almagel A are allowed even for infants from a month old. The dosage should be reduced three times. More often, children are given a ready-made suspension without diluting it.

Almagel: release form - in sachets

Admission rules are the same as for adults. The child should be given 1 teaspoon of the drug half an hour before meals before each feeding (3-4 times a day) and at bedtime. Teenagers and children over 10 years old take 1-2 tablespoons. The total amount of the drug per day for young children should not exceed 5 tablespoons.

The course of treatment lasts approximately 2-3 months. After that, you can continue to give the child a drug for prevention for some time, but by reducing the dosage by half. With prolonged use, you need to additionally give the child phosphorus preparations.

With severe vomiting and abdominal pain, it is recommended to start taking Almagel A, and then switch to regular Almagel. If the treatment includes other drugs, the time difference between doses should be 1.5-2 hours, otherwise their effect will be reduced. as you know, they can also suffer from gastritis, heartburn, ulcers, duodenitis, etc. Regular Almagel and Almagel A are allowed to be used during pregnancy, but not more than 3 days in a row. Almagel Neo is usually not recommended for expectant mothers, since it is not known for certain how it affects the fetus. Sometimes it is still prescribed, in rare cases and under the supervision of a doctor.

The most common reason for taking the drug during pregnancy is severe heartburn, which occurs due to the pressure of the growing uterus on the stomach.

The volume of the stomach decreases, and part of the hydrochloric acid is released into the esophagus, causing discomfort. During pregnancy, it may not appear much, or it may interfere with sleep and lead a normal lifestyle. In the second case, a short course of Almagel is prescribed.

The dosage of the drug is prescribed by the doctor individually in each case. It is usually recommended to drink Almagel 1-2 tablespoons half an hour before meals. If you need to take the drug during lactation, the child at this time should be transferred to the mixture.

Almagel Neo is an antacid, enveloping and adsorbing drug that has proven its effectiveness in the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Almagel Neo is a multi-component cationic non-absorbable topical antacid mixture with strong buffering properties. The main active ingredients are aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and simethicone.

The drug, due to its aluminum hydroxide, is able to maintain optimal acidity in the stomach for a long period of time, which prevents an increase in acid production by the parietal cells of the stomach. It is characterized by excellent adsorption activity, especially absorbs substances such as pepsin and bile acids.

Promotes enhanced mucus formation, covers the gastric mucosa, forming a protective film, thereby protecting the mucosa from damaging factors and promoting the regeneration of damaged tissues. Magnesium hydroxide also neutralizes harmful substances. In addition, it has a laxative effect, which ensures normal stools without constipation while taking Almagel Neo.

Due to the presence in the composition of a surfactant that prevents the formation of gas bubbles in the mucus and contributes to their destruction, simethicone, Almagel Neo, unlike other antacid drugs, promotes the release of gases that are absorbed by the intestinal walls and excreted from the body naturally.

Simethicone is an inert compound that does not interfere with the absorption of other substances, does not change the acidity in the stomach, and has its effect throughout the entire digestive tract. It is a carminative, eliminates the clinical manifestations of flatulence, such as pain in the epigastrium, belching, a feeling of fullness, rumbling.

Almagel Neo is produced in the form of a white suspension with a characteristic orange odor. The drug is not absorbed, destroyed and does not accumulate in the body, it is excreted unchanged. Its action begins 3-5 minutes after ingestion, the duration of action is 3 hours.

Indications for use

Almagel Neo has proven its effectiveness in monotherapy or complex therapy:

  • acute and chronic gastritis with increased and normal secretory function of the stomach
  • acute duodenitis
  • erosion of the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum
  • peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum
  • gastroesophageal reflux
  • reflux esophagitis
  • exacerbations of pancreatitis in chronic form
  • gastralgia
  • heartburn
  • discomfort with errors in the diet, after excessive use of alcohol, caffeine, nicotine)
  • with flatulence, bloating, epigastric pain, belching with air

Contraindications for use

Almagel Neo should be prescribed only by a doctor after a preliminary examination and under his control. Do not take the drug if there is a history of hypersensitivity to its components. The main contraindications to its use are:

  1. Syndrome of violation of all functions of the kidneys
  2. Senile dementia of the Alzheimer's type
  3. Hypophosphatemia (low serum phosphate concentration)

With caution, the drug should be prescribed to patients with liver diseases, traumatic brain injury, brain diseases, epilepsy. Almagel Neo is not prescribed during pregnancy and lactation. It is also forbidden to be taken by children under 10 years old, with caution it should be prescribed to adolescent children (10-18 years old).

Side effects

Taking the drug can provoke the development of some side effects, among which are an allergic reaction, nausea, taste disturbance, constipation, diarrhea. Long-term therapy with the drug or treatment with large doses for a significant period of time may manifest as a decrease in the concentration of calcium and phosphorus in the blood serum, increased calcium in the urine, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, hypermagnesemia, hyperaluminemia, encephalopathy, nephrocalcinosis, renal failure.

Taking medication by patients with renal insufficiency may be accompanied by thirst, lowering blood pressure, hyporeflexia. During the period of drug treatment, there may be a feeling of numbness of the oral mucosa and tongue. This is a temporary phenomenon that does not require discontinuation of the drug and special therapeutic measures.

Dosage and methods of application

The dosage should be determined by the attending physician. Unless otherwise indicated, the suspension for adults is prescribed 2 scoops 4 times a day at regular intervals. The drug should be taken 1 hour after a meal and at bedtime. As prescribed by the doctor, a single dose can be increased to 4 scoops, while it is important to ensure that the daily dose does not exceed 12 scoops.

For children, the dose is half the adult dose, that is, 1 scoop 4 times a day. A day is allowed to take no more than 6 scoops. The suspension should not be diluted with water or washed down. It is also advisable not to drink or eat within 30 minutes after taking it. Shake the bottle with the drug immediately before taking it thoroughly to achieve a homogeneous composition of the suspension.

The course of treatment is 14-28 days. If necessary and as prescribed by the doctor, it can be increased. With simultaneous treatment with Almagel Neo and another oral preparation, the time interval between their intake should be at least 1 hour. Otherwise, there may be a decrease in the absorption of the drug.

drug overdose

An overdose of Almagel Neo is rare. Taking high doses of the suspension can lead to the development of severe hypermagnesemia, the clinical manifestations of which are arterial hypotension, bradycardia, areflexia, drowsiness, weakness, paralysis, and respiratory failure.

In extremely rare cases, manifestations of metabolic alkalosis are noted: headaches, lethargy, neuromuscular excitability, convulsions, weakness.

If there are signs of an overdose of the drug, it is urgent to organize its removal from the body. To do this, you should artificially induce vomiting, take an adsorbing drug and seek qualified medical help.

special instructions

Due to the fact that strictly controlled trials of Almagel Neo during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted, it should be avoided if possible during these periods. Reception of the suspension is permissible only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the risk of developing undesirable effects for the fetus or child.

The composition of the suspension includes ethyl alcohol, and therefore, the drug can cause complications in patients with brain and liver pathologies, in those suffering from alcoholism and epilepsy, in children under 14 years of age. It should be borne in mind that the suspension contains a small amount of sorbitol, which is contraindicated in congenital fructose intolerance and can provoke stomach irritation and diarrhea.

Aluminum hydroxide, which is the main active ingredient of Almagel Neo, reduces the absorption of phosphates from the digestive tract, which can lead to hypophosphatemia. Therefore, with prolonged therapy with the drug, it is necessary to ensure that a sufficient amount of phosphorus enters the body.

In addition, increased excretion of calcium in the urine, which may occur during treatment with the drug, can lead to a violation of the calcium-phosphate balance and create favorable conditions for the development of osteomalacia (a systemic disease characterized by insufficient bone mineralization).

Almagel Neo does not contain substances that have a negative effect on concentration, disrupt psychomotor functions and act depressingly on the central nervous system. Therefore, the acceptance of funds is not a basis for refusing to drive a vehicle.

drug interaction

Almagel neo - antacid drug

The interaction of Almagel Neo with many drugs has been studied. When taken simultaneously, Almagel Neo reduces the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, H2-antihistamines, and anti-tuberculosis drugs.

In this regard, it is recommended to take a break of two hours between taking these drugs. It is important to bear in mind that the simultaneous administration of Almagel Neo with salicylates leads to an increase in the excretion of salicylates by the kidneys due to alkalinization of urine.

In patients with renal insufficiency, there may be a violation of the excretion of quindine with the development of quindine toxicity. Therefore, the drug should not be taken with quinolines. Also, in patients with renal insufficiency, there may be an increase in the level of aluminum as a result of the simultaneous administration of aluminum hydroxide with citrates.

The combined use of Almagel with preparations in the form of enteric-coated tablets can lead to premature dissolution of the membrane, which will lead to irritation of the mucosa of the digestive tract.

Reviews about the drug

About the drug reviews are very different. This is due to the fact that it has been produced for a long time and is widely used in the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Many patients note that after taking the drug, the condition improves significantly: pain in the epigastrium is eliminated, nausea and flatulence disappear. Others, on the contrary, believe that taking the medication did not have the desired effect.

In addition, some of the negative reviews are associated with a short action of the drug. Patients do not like that Almagel Neo temporarily eliminates the symptoms of diseases, but does not cure them. Indeed, Almagel Neo is designed to relieve symptoms and normalize well-being. Other medications should be taken to treat the disease.

Some patients notice negative reactions at the beginning of taking the remedy, get scared and stop treatment. Meanwhile, such symptoms can be observed only in the first days of therapy, after which they disappear. In addition, side effects in the form of nausea, constipation are acceptable and disappear immediately after stopping the drug.
