Who performs the craniotomy procedure?

A craniotomy is performed by a neurosurgeon, and some physicians have additional training in skull base surgery. A neurosurgeon can work with the head and neck, an otological surgeon with the ear, and an oculoplastic surgeon with the eyes and face.

How to prepare for a craniotomy?

Step 5 is fixing the problem. Due to the fact that the brain is tightly enclosed within the bony skull, the tissues cannot be easily moved to the side, and it is difficult to access them and eliminate all problems. Neurosurgeons use a variety of very small instruments to work deep within the brain. These include long-handled scissors, dissectors, drilling rigs, lasers, ultrasonic aspirators (to break up tumors and suck up debris), computer imaging of guidance systems.
