For persons with a smoking experience of more than 40 years, the drug is prescribed only after an interview with a doctor. Drug therapy with Tabex against the background of continued smoking can cause potentiation of the negative effects of nicotine and, ultimately, provoke nicotine intoxication. Provided that the prescribed doses are observed and the recommendations of the doctor are followed, the drug does not have serious side effects. During treatment and at its end, there is an improvement in the general condition of the patient due to the elimination of nicotine intoxication.

Pharmacology

N-cholinomimetic. It excites nicotinic receptors of the autonomic ganglia, reflexively stimulates the respiratory center, causes the release of adrenaline by the chromaffin cells of the medullary part of the adrenal glands, and increases blood pressure.

Reduces nicotine addiction (associated with a competitive relationship in the area of ​​the same receptors and biochemical substrates with which nicotine interacts in the body). Causes a change in the taste of smoking (making it unpleasant), reduces the craving for smoking and alleviates withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation.

The mechanism of action of cytisine is close to the mechanism of action of nicotine, which makes it possible to gradually quit smoking and at the same time prevents the development of withdrawal symptoms.

Dosage

The drug is prescribed for 3 days, 1 tab. 6 times / day (after 2 hours) with a parallel reduction in the number of cigarettes smoked. If there is no effect, the drug should be discontinued and a new course should be started after 2-3 months.

With a positive result, treatment is continued according to the following scheme:

Smoking should be stopped no later than 5 days from the start of treatment.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, dilated pupils, general weakness, tachycardia, convulsions, respiratory paralysis.

Treatment: gastric lavage, control of heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory function; if necessary, the introduction of infusion solutions, anticonvulsants, cardiotonic, analeptic and other symptomatic drugs.

Interaction

The drug should not be used simultaneously with anti-tuberculosis drugs.

From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, irritability.
