Why is the vacation period different in different schools

The school holidays in the 2016-2017 academic year are influenced by the choice of the method of education in a particular educational institution:

2. By trimesters.

If the school is teaching quarters, then holidays are set for students:

• 9 days in autumn: last week of October and first of November;
• two weeks for the New Year: the last days of December and 10 days in January;
• 7 days in spring: end of March;
• additional holidays for first-graders and students of correctional classes: 7 days in winter;
• three summer months.

If the school has chosen a trimester schedule, then the children will study for 5 weeks and rest for 1 week.

The exception is the winter holidays, which in the 2016-2017 academic year last 2 weeks for all students.

In the spring of the 2017-2018 academic year, no national holidays are planned, and therefore changing the period for their holding in the spring of 2018 depends only on the decision of the school management. Schools with a trimester type of education

The same period lasts for modules with a different type of training.

The only exception is winter holidays, which last longer. After all, it is associated with the New Year holidays, approved by the production calendar. Therefore, the number of days off during the winter break from study is always greater.

What can cause delays?

The main reason why the final word in the approval of the vacation period is left to the director of the educational institution is the too large palette of territorial features of each region.

So, in a number of Siberian and northern regions, training is often canceled due to severe frosts. Another objective reason may be a severe flood or an epidemic of diseases. Therefore, it is possible to focus on the preliminary school schedule of academic and weekend days, but it should not be taken as final and approved.

Russian schools live according to two educational "calendars": quarters and trimesters. Of these, the dates of the autumn holidays at the end of October and the beginning of November are less stable: the date of their end depends on the Day of National Unity, which is celebrated on November 4. So, for example, the autumn holidays of 2018 will not last traditionally from Monday to Sunday, but one more day due to the postponement of the day off. That is from October 27th to November 5th.

New Year holidays 2018–2019 academic year

New Year holidays, as a rule, begin from the last week of December and end on the 10th of January. Students go to school on Monday. Winter holidays in 2018/2019 academic year will be extended from December 30th to January 8th. First-graders will also have additional vacations in the winter * - from 16 to 25 February.

Spring break 2019 academic year

The situation with holidays in the spring is much simpler - the dates do not depend on the holidays. Spring break is in the last week of March and the first week of April. In 2019, schoolchildren will have a rest March 23 to March 31.

Summer holidays 2019 academic year

Summer holidays will start as usual - from the last Monday of May. In 2019, it falls on the 27th. In this way, from May 27 to September 1 schoolchildren are waiting for three happy months free from lessons.

In addition to scheduled holidays, classes at the school may be canceled for the following reasons:

Schoolchildren and students have been waiting for holidays since September 1. For the second, this expectation is fraught with excitement: before they go to rest, they have to pass the session. When do students rest?

For university students, things are a bit different. It is not possible to name specific vacation dates. It depends on the schedule of lectures, tests, exams, practice, etc. Rest time can vary significantly for different groups of students in the same university course. Therefore, the dates of student holidays can only be determined approximately.

The winter session will last until January 22nd. This means that already on the 25th, students who have successfully passed tests and exams will be able to rest. You will need to return to the classroom on February 8 - the day the second academic semester begins. Thus, the winter holidays will last two weeks.

The timing of the summer holidays will depend entirely on the schedule of the session, the time for defending scientific papers and the presence or absence of practice. The law defines only the minimum duration of summer vacation for students of higher educational institutions. According to him, every student in the summer must rest for at least 35 days.

The vacation schedule in schools where the educational process is divided into trimesters differs from the "quarter". However, it is planned to combine the winter holidays in them with the winter holidays in traditional schools for the general convenience of all schoolchildren and their parents. So, holidays in "trimester" schools are divided by season, and each season is divided into two parts:

• Autumn: October 2 - 8 and November 17 - 23.
