Kappa on aesthetic teeth. Teeth pads. Types of ceramic veneers

The invention relates to orthodontics and is intended for masking orthodontic treatment using non-removable equipment, in particular braces. Aesthetic mouth guard for covering vestibular braces during orthodontic treatment, consisting of plastic vestibular pads made with a groove for the bracket arc, while two nylon threads are laid inside the pads above and below the brackets, and dental rubber is placed in the negative surface of the cap, and the vestibular pads made with the correct anatomical position of the teeth and completely covering the braces. The technical result of the invention is to improve the appearance of the patient during orthodontic treatment of teeth with bracket systems without obstructing the free movement of teeth. 3 ill.

Aesthetic kappa refers to medicine, namely to orthodontics, and can be used in orthodontic treatment on vestibular braces to cover them. In the modern world, dentoalveolar anomalies are very common, especially in children. Often, patients cannot be cured with removable appliances alone and have to resort to fixed appliance treatment during adolescence and beyond, which entails some psychological trauma. It is important for a teenager to feel like a part of society, to learn how to communicate with peers. It is at this age that sexual desire appears, and the presence of a bracket system on the teeth can lead to the formation of complexes and prevent the individual from taking a more advantageous place in the peer group. As a result - psychological trauma, which may affect the further formation of personality. At a more mature age, aesthetically ugly braces reduce the level of attractiveness of a person and, as a result, make him more withdrawn and uncommunicative.

Ceramic, sapphire and composite aesthetic braces are widely used in the orthodontic market, but they are too bulky and noticeable on closer inspection. But even the use of the most aesthetic braces will not make the metal arc invisible. The use of an aesthetic mouth guard makes treatment with vestibular braces more convenient for patients. Until now, not a single device is known that could be an analogue of our invention. Aesthetic kappa is unique in its level of technology and has no prototype. The objectives of the invention are to achieve the psychological comfort of the patient undergoing orthodontic treatment, and improve his appearance, without interfering with the free movement of teeth. Therefore, the technical result of the invention is the camouflage of the orthodontic treatment process. The tasks are solved by the fact that the aesthetic kappa contains plastic vestibular pads, in which 2 nylon threads are laid. The number of vestibular pads may vary depending on the clinical case. The kappa is attached to the arch using a rubber matrix. Thus, the use of an aesthetic mouth guard is a way to hide the process of orthodontic tooth movement.

The invention is illustrated by drawings. Fig.1 - appearance of the aesthetic mouthguard. Figure 2 - the negative surface of the aesthetic kappa. Figure 3 - vestibular overlay in section.

2 - layer of dental rubber

3 - mouthguard body made of acrylic plastic

To implement the invention, after fixing the brackets and installing the arcs, 2 casts are taken from the upper jaw with an alginate impression mass. The impression material that has fallen between the arch and the vestibular surface of the tooth on both casts is cut off, and models are cast from supergypsum. Next, vestibular pads 3 are modeled with wax with the correct anatomical position. Due to the abnormal position of the teeth, the vestibular pads are modeled so that they do not coincide with the crowns of the teeth, but are a monolithic kappa that looks like an even dentition. The cutting and gingival edges of the vestibular pads are packed with plaster to make them thinner. Lay out the first layer of plastic around the braces, going to the cutting and gingival edges, and lay 2 nylon threads 5 above and below the braces, which ensures the integration of the vestibular overlays into the kappa and its mobility. Then spread the second layer of plastic from the center of the tooth to the proximal surfaces, isolating them from the adjacent tooth with a modeling spatula coated with petroleum jelly. The resulting device is packed and sent to the polymerization chamber (2-3 atm, 132°C, 30 min). Kappa is removed from the model, unnecessary edges are cut off and polished only from the vestibular side. Check the mobility of the kappa segments. Take the second model and remove up to 3 mm of plaster behind the arch of the brackets. The negative surface of the kappa is degreased, dental rubber is poured into it and pressed firmly against the model. The rubber matrix 2, 4 provides fastening of the aesthetic mouth guard to the orthodontic arch. After the rubber has hardened (45 min), the excess material is cut off. Vestibular pads of the invention completely cover the braces. In the process of wearing, the aesthetic kappa, thanks to nylon threads, changes its position following the arch, without preventing the movement of the teeth. The matrix of dental rubber provides a secure fixation of the mouth guard in the oral cavity when speaking and articulating the tongue. However, a situation may arise that the device will be dropped during meals, in which case a little material is removed from the cutting edge of the corresponding tooth and relining is done only in this place.

Capa is a special pad on the teeth made of plastic materials. What is a dental cap for? It is used in sports for protection against injury and in dentistry for orthodontic treatment, as well as for aesthetic and therapeutic procedures. What does a dental cap look like? It is a removable construction made of silicone or polyurethane, which is put on as needed or according to the regimen prescribed by the doctor.

Types of caps for teeth

Silicone cap for athletes

Sports, or protective, mouth guards are designed for those who play contact sports such as hockey, football, boxing, or prefer extreme recreation. Such caps on the front teeth help to reduce the mechanical impact on the jaw and prevent damage not only to the teeth and soft tissues of the face, but also to the cervical spine.

Protective sports mouthguards for teeth are of two types:

  • standard cap - made according to a unified model and is completely ready for use;
  • individual mouthguard for teeth - made from biopolymers according to personal casts, which allows you to reproduce all the features of the structure of the dentition.

Orthodontic caps for teeth

These are structures for aligning the dentition, which are made according to individual casts of the patient's jaws. Unfortunately, not all of these mouth guards are able to cope with serious anomalies. Basically, they are effective for eliminating interdental gaps and correcting some bite pathologies. However, if we are talking about Invisalign® orthodontic aligners, then they can be safely considered as an alternative to braces. See photos of aligners for teeth below.

Teething caps

There is another type of dental caps for teeth alignment - trainers. They are also called teething trays, teething guidance devices or LM activators. Various models of caps of this type are made from silicone. They come in several sizes. Despite the name, teething trays are actually used to correct the jaw alignment and align the incisors in children aged 6 to 10 years, that is, at the stage of early mixed dentition. How long to wear mouth guards? Mouthguards must be worn by the child for several hours during the day and all night. The duration of treatment is usually about a year with periodic monitoring of intermediate results on casts of the jaws made at different stages of correction.

Caps for teeth whitening

If you want to achieve a snow-white smile, but in-office whitening procedures in the clinic are not suitable for you for some reason, you can make your teeth whiter at home using professional systems using an individual, standard or thermoplastic disposable mouthguard and whitening gel. However, in this case, you still need to visit a dentist to have impressions taken for a custom mouthguard or just to learn how to use your mouthguards. At the same time, one must be prepared for the fact that the whitening process using this technology will not be fast and will take at least a month, since the percentage of hydrogen peroxide in the gel is lower than that of office whitening systems. But this method is considered the most suitable for teeth with increased sensitivity.

How to put on a mouth guard for a home whitening procedure? First you need to brush your teeth, apply the gel on the inside of the tray and put it on, pressing a little so that the gel is evenly distributed. After that, you need to rinse your mouth and wear a mouth guard for the time indicated in the instructions. Then the mouth guard should be removed and rinsed with water again.

Mouthguard for applications on teeth

Caps for applications on the teeth are also used for the remineralization procedure. A special gel or paste is applied to the inner surface of the tray and pressed firmly against the teeth. Regular wearing of a device filled with a mineralizing composition allows you to effectively strengthen and restore tooth enamel. Such caps are standard and thermoplastic. Thermoplastic mouthguards are made from a flexible material that softens when immersed in hot water. After that, it is immediately put on the teeth, and the material hardens. Teeth grinding treatment

Due to bruxism, a disease characterized by involuntary grinding of the teeth, a person can experience not only a significant erasure of the dentition, but also inflammation or deformation of the jaw joint. As a result of using this type of dental cap, the imbalance of muscles disappears, the jaw relaxes, the headache subsides, which is one of the unpleasant manifestations of this disease. To achieve positive results of treatment, the design must be worn for about 10 hours a day. In dentistry, there are two types of mouth guards for bruxism:

  • daytime - used for daytime bruxism. These are transparent individual mouthguards that must be worn at all times. They are invisible to others and do not cause discomfort.
  • night - shown with nocturnal bruxism. These caps are worn only during the night's sleep. They are comfortable and not felt in the mouth.

Dental cap after wearing braces

To consolidate the results of bite correction with a bracket system, it is necessary to continue treatment with special orthodontic devices - retainers - or resort to installing a cap on the teeth. These devices are made of soft biopolymers, do not cause discomfort and are easy to use - you will immediately understand how to put a mouth guard on your teeth and how to remove a mouth guard from your teeth. The device should be worn at night and for several hours during the day for 6-12 months, depending on the malocclusion. Reviews of mouthguards for teeth after braces indicate that they really help to find a perfect smile and self-confidence.

Tip: how to clean your mouthguards!

Many patients are interested in how to clean dental trays from plaque. Just wash them with running warm water with or without a special detergent from the same manufacturer. You can clean the mouthguard with a toothbrush and toothpaste. These care rules apply to almost all varieties of orthodontic caps. As for athlete's teeth protectors, they should be stored in separate containers and periodically soaked in special solutions that help prolong their use. Other features of the use of these devices are described in the sports instructions for the mouth guard.

Where to buy a mouthguard for teeth?

Standard mouth guards are available from sporting goods stores and are inexpensive and available to everyone. However, many patients ask where to order a mouth guard online? There are special sites that offer various equipment and equipment for sports. According to reviews, mouth guards from Aliexpress are not always of good quality.

Therefore, in order to become the owner of an individual mouthguard for any purpose, you need to contact the clinic, as they are made according to personal casts in dental laboratories or in production. In addition, the doctor will tell you how much the mouth guard costs and how to use it correctly.

Where can I buy standard sized mouthguards for bruxism or thermoplastic mouthguards for remineralization or teeth whitening treatments? They are sold in pharmacies. But before purchasing such caps, it is also necessary to consult a dentist in order to avoid the negative consequences of their incorrect use.

The price of a mouthguard for teeth

Prices for medical caps for teeth in Moscow depend on their purpose. The cost of standard caps from bruxism is about 2,000 rubles, individual - from 5,000 rubles. The price of mouthguards for teeth alignment depends on the brand and on the number of devices needed for treatment. The most expensive and most comfortable transparent Invisalign aligners cost about 200,000 rubles per set for the entire period of bite correction.

Standard whitening mouthguards are usually sold in sets of 20 pieces at a price of 3,000 rubles. Thermoplastic mouthguards together with a whitening gel will cost approximately 5,000 - 6,000 rubles, individual mouthguards (created on the basis of casts according to a 3D model) with a whitening agent - from 7,000 to 15,000 rubles.

In aesthetic dentistry, different types of overlays for teeth are used - therapeutic, orthopedic and decorative. The first two types are called veneers (from the English. Veneer - mask, give an external gloss).

Veneers are used to restore the anatomical shape of the teeth and improve their color. Decorative overlays decorate a smile, emphasizing the individual style of a person.

Indications

Veneers are installed to correct such defects in the dentition as:

  • abnormal shape of the tooth (anatomical irregularities or the consequences of injuries);
  • unaesthetic color (yellowness, darkening, the appearance of spots);
  • too large interdental spaces;
  • chips and microcracks in enamel;
  • increased tooth wear;
  • demineralization (thinning) of enamel.

This is a great alternative to whitening and crowns: veneers do not require aggressive processing of dental tissues to fix them, and their service life can reach 20 years.

Decorative elements on the teeth are installed at the request of patients.

Types of overlays

Therapeutic

We are talking about veneers made of composite reflective materials - the same as those used for fillings. But unlike conventional fillings, therapeutic linings look more aesthetically pleasing and are more durable. They are recommended for solving the problems of a single tooth defect (two problematic teeth - maximum).

As a rule, the installation of composite veneers occurs in one step. The dentist grinds off a microscopic layer of enamel (0.3-0.7 mm) and applies a composite material to the treated surface - layer by layer.

In some cases, the installation of veneers is carried out without turning the enamel (when correcting too large gaps between the teeth, for example). At the final stage, the plate is ground and polished.

Orthopedic

Ceramic veneers are classified as orthopedic overlays for teeth. These are a kind of micro prostheses that are installed on the front teeth located in the smile zone - ten upper and eight lower teeth.

Types of ceramic veneers

According to the materials of manufacture:

  • porcelain (characterized by excellent aesthetic functions, but do not withstand excessive loads);
  • zirconium (they are stronger than metal, but they are not fixed very securely).

According to the thickness of the microprosthesis:

  • ordinary (1.3-1.5 mm);
  • ultranirs (from 0.3 to 0.5 mm).
  • lumineers (the so-called Hollywood veneers with a thickness of 0.2-0.3 mm).

It is Lumineers that are the secret of dazzling white smiles of famous movie stars - George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow and others.

Stages of installing veneers

The process of micro-prosthetics using orthopedic overlays lasts an average of a week and proceeds as follows:

  1. Selection of the plate by color and type.
  2. Grinding of 0.5-1.5 mm of enamel (with the exception of lumineers, which are fixed on intact teeth).
  3. Creating an impression of the treated tooth.
  4. Installation of a temporary plastic overlay.
  5. Plate manufacturing.
  6. Fixation of the microprosthesis on dental cement.

Decorative

At the present stage, the following types of decorative overlays for teeth are popular:

  • skies (artificial diamonds that are attached to enamel);
  • grillz (made in the form of a cap on the front teeth).

Skyces look like rhinestones, they are glued to the tooth enamel on dental cement. At the same time, the enamel is not subjected to any processing, and after removing the skyce, it remains exactly the same as before. Wearing such jewelry is completely harmless.

Grills are made from different metals: they can be gold, silver, chromium-nickel alloy. Often they are encrusted with precious stones. Such jewelry is especially popular among celebrities: Madonna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Marilyn Manson and many others wear grills.

Thanks to the internal silicone coating in contact with the teeth, the pads do not harm the enamel at all. They are not worn around the clock - it is recommended to take them off while sleeping and eating.

High-quality and safe grills are produced individually for each, stamped ones can be bought via the Internet. Dentists speak extremely negatively about the latter, since they do not correlate with the shape of the teeth of a particular person and can cause damage to the enamel.

Life time

Therapeutic overlays on teeth serve on average from two to five years. Orthopedic - ten to twelve years (Lumineers - up to twenty).

Skys and grills do not have a lifetime as such: they are installed for several months or years.

Prices

The average prices for one tooth are as follows:

  • 4,000–4,500 rubles for composite veneers;
  • 14,000 or more rubles for porcelain veneers;
  • 17,000 rubles and more for zirconium orthopedic overlays;
  • 25,000 rubles and more for lumineers;
  • 3,000 rubles per skyce.

The cost of grills is calculated individually depending on the materials, the presence of inlays, etc.

The result of installing onlays on the teeth depends largely on the qualifications of the dentist. Our website contains a complete list of clinics that provide high-quality aesthetic dentistry services and successfully practice the installation of therapeutic, orthopedic and decorative overlays.

invisible

Mouthguards for aligning teeth do not have metal arches and brackets that attract the attention of others. Visible only from a very close distance (20-30 cm). No aesthetic discomfort.

Comfortable to wear

You will get used to silicone mouth guards in just 2 hours. No effect on diction. There are no restrictions on the use of products, since they can be removed at the time of eating.

Effective

The result of treatment is always predictable. Before you start wearing them, you can see the final result. Correct minor anomalies in 3-4 months.

Easy care

Unlike bracket systems, you do not need to use brushes, irrigators and orthodontic brushes to clean the aligners. You simply brush them with a toothbrush and rinse with warm water.

Do not cause allergies

Dental aligners are made from hypoallergenic materials and do not cause allergic reactions, unlike some types of metal.

Safe

Do not damage tooth enamel. Do not injure soft tissues, oral mucosa. Exclude the accumulation of pathogenic bacteria that provoke the development of caries.

Stages of treatment

1. Consultation and diagnostics.

Taking impressions. Photographing the dentition or scanning the oral cavity. Studying the results of an orthopantomogram or computed tomography. Making a decision on the possibility of treating pathology with the installation of a cap. Sending data to the laboratory of the manufacturer of the selected orthodontic system.

Deadline: up to 2 hours.

2. 3D modeling of the treatment process.

A special computer program simulates the movement of teeth while wearing aligners and demonstrates the final result. The duration of treatment, the number of caps required to correct the pathology, and the price of their manufacture are calculated.

  • Star Smile, 3D Smile, FlexiLinger - up to 10 days;
  • Invisalign - up to 45 days.

3. Print.

If the patient is satisfied with everything, a set of trays is printed on a digital printer and sent to the clinic.

  • Star Smile, 3D Smile, FlexiLine - up to 14 days;
  • Invisalign - up to 50 days.

4. Sanitation of the oral cavity.

While mouthguards are being made, teeth and gums are being treated (if indicated). Serious problems can arise while wearing aligners if left untreated.

Term: up to 3 days.

5. Installation.

The doctor gives out a set of aligners, installs the first mouth guard and explains how to wear them.
