Non-healing wound: how and what to treat? My Experience with Christmas Ointment Effects of Infections and Diseases of the Internal Organs on Wound Healing

All people are familiar with various injuries, wounds. Some wounds heal fairly quickly. Some people have to work hard to get well. Why does a non-healing wound occur? There may be several reasons. We will consider them further.

The reasons

A wound that does not heal for a long time is a reason to seek medical help. Only there you will receive the appropriate treatment. The question arises, what time of wound healing is considered normal? Normal healing proceeds within no more than three weeks. If complications or deviations occur, this process can be delayed for a month and a half. The reasons that the wound does not heal for a long time are divided into external and internal, as well as their combination.

Internal factors: chronic diseases of the endocrine system, such as diabetes mellitus, exhaustion of the body, beriberi, overweight, circulatory disorders, varicose veins, infectious diseases, oncological diseases. All these diseases lead to a decrease in immunity. Like wounds don't heal.

Infection

If a person is injured with a sharp object, it is possible to get an infection directly when injured. Although it can happen in other ways. For example, infection in the wound during dressing. If the wound is not treated in a timely manner with disinfectants, infection may spread. Then you need a long-term treatment.

Symptoms when the body temperature rises, swelling appears in the affected area, the skin becomes red and hot, suppuration appears. Infection is the reason that the wound site does not heal for a long time. Treatment will require antibiotics. It will also require special treatment, removal of suppuration and suturing if necessary. In some cases, a doctor may prescribe a blood transfusion and vitamin therapy.

Treatment of a non-healing wound in diabetes mellitus

With such a disease, any minor cut becomes a real test. High blood sugar has a detrimental effect on blood vessels, destroying them. The blood supply is disturbed, especially in the lower part of the legs. In addition, the sensitivity of nerve endings decreases. As a result, a person does not feel injured because of this. An ordinary callus, a small cut not treated in a timely manner, can become a non-healing wound, and later turn into an ulcer.

You should be extremely careful and try to avoid injuries or cuts, carefully check the condition of the legs. At the slightest violation of the skin, you should consult a doctor. Suppuration of the wound in diabetes mellitus often leads to amputation of the affected parts of the limbs.

Rapid healing is facilitated by: timely treatment with antiseptics, the appointment of antibiotic ointments, proper nutrition, foods rich in vitamins B and C, additional prescription of vitamins, proper care of the affected area of the body, treatment, dressing.

ethnoscience

In the treatment of a non-healing wound on the leg, it is possible to combine drug therapy and alternative methods. This combination will speed up healing.

Fresh cucumber juice has an antimicrobial effect. They need to lubricate the wounds, make compresses for several hours.

Celandine leaves have a healing effect. You can use both fresh leaves for treatment, and the leaves should be steamed before use. Bandages are made with celandine leaves, applying them to the wound.

A mixture of burdock roots and celandine boiled in sunflower oil will also help. How to make it? Now we'll tell you. To do this, you need 100 ml of sunflower oil, chopped burdock roots 30 g, celandine roots 20 g. It is worth cooking on low heat for 15 minutes. After cool and strain. Lubricate the affected area with the resulting mixture two to three times a day for a week.

Wounds in diabetes

If a person has diabetes, how to treat non-healing wounds? Now we'll tell you. When treating a non-healing wound in diabetes, you need to remember how to properly treat the affected area and do the dressing:

It is worth following the prescriptions of the attending physician, consulting if you wish to use traditional medicine recipes. Self-medication, the wrong choice of drugs can significantly worsen the condition of the wound and slow down healing.

Ointments

Effective ointments for non-healing wounds:

1. Solcoseryl. Used for dry wounds. Accelerates tissue regeneration, promotes effective healing. 2. "Actovegin". To heal deep wounds, a gel is released, after the wound has begun to heal, an ointment is applied. Analogue of "Solcoseryl". 3. "Levomekol". An antibiotic drug. It is used to treat purulent wounds, burns, bedsores, trophic ulcers.

4. "Baneocin". A drug that contains antibiotics that protect the skin from infection. Available in the form of ointment and powder.

Non-healing weeping wounds

A weeping wound is accompanied by the release of ichor in large quantities. This happens if a person is injured due to a burn (electrical, chemical, solar), bacterial or fungal lesions occur, the skin is torn off, there are diaper rash, abrasions and calluses.

In order to avoid infection in such a wound, an antiseptic dressing is needed. If there are foreign objects in the affected area, the damaged skin diverges by more than one centimeter, there is severe bleeding, then you should immediately go to the emergency room. If all this is not there, you can treat the wound and apply a bandage yourself.

To wash an open weeping wound, you can not use iodine or brilliant green. These products will burn the tissue, and the liquid will not drain. And this can cause inflammation and suppuration. Better to use hydrogen peroxide. It can be treated with a solution of "Chlorhexidine", "Unisept", "Decasan" or "Miramistin". For subsequent cleansing and treatment of the wound, you can use a solution of furacilin or an isotonic solution (boiled water with salt, 5 grams per glass of water). These products can be used to remove a dried bandage and to treat the surface of the affected area.

Weeping wounds. Treatment

How to treat non-healing wounds that get wet? Until a crust has formed on the affected area, ointments should be discarded. For treatment, use solutions or powders with a drying effect. Salt solution works simply and effectively in this case. How to cook it? Dilute salt in water in a ratio of 1x10.

To speed up tissue regeneration and eliminate the infection, an antibiotic powder should be used. For this, the following agents are prescribed: "Streptocid", "Penicillin", "Levomycetin".

Combined drugs are also used to suppress bacteria and fungal environments, such as Baneocin. A thin layer of powder is applied to the treated surface of the wound with a cotton swab. Then it is covered with a sterile gauze and bandaged. After 4-5 hours, the bandage should be moistened with saline. After that it should be replaced. If the wound heals, there is no pus or there is very little of it, you can not wash it with saline, but limit yourself only to treating the affected area.

If the pain does not go away, the edges of the wound darken, the inflammation spreads to nearby areas of the skin, you should urgently visit a doctor. In this case, the doctor will prescribe antibiotics and antibacterial drugs to avoid infection, sepsis. In addition, vitamins are necessary to maintain resistant functions of the body.

Conclusion

Proper and timely treatment will give a positive result within one to two weeks. In some severe cases, therapy will be required for a month with the use of physiotherapy: heating, quartz treatment, laser treatment, massage. Wounds that heal for a long time lead to damage to adjacent skin areas and the formation of keloid scars, which can remain forever. You need to be attentive to your health.

find a plant that helped heal the wound. This is a legend. Maybe this

the plant does not have such power, but it helps to cure colds and eye diseases.

In Europe, cornflower has long been considered one of the best for weaving wreaths.

In Sweden, a wreath of cornflowers is even included in the image of the state emblem. For Russians, during the harvest festival, the first sheaf, decorated with cornflowers, was placed in the red corner of the house. Peasants hung wreaths of cornflowers in huts so that crickets would not be found.

Blue cornflower is an excellent honey plant. And people have learned to make paint out of it. So the cornflower is not only a weed, but also a very useful plant in everyday life.

St. John's wort The victim was brought to the hospital. His face and hands were badly burned. Most of all, the patient feared for his face: whether it would remain purple-red for the rest of his life, with disfiguring scars. But the doctors reassured them that there would be no trace of burns, and the miraculous Imanin powder, which was created by Ukrainian scientists a few years ago, would help them heal.

They made it from a plant that has a strange name

- St. John's wort.

No wonder in the old days this plant was called grass from 99 diseases.

St. John's wort was once considered a rare plant in Russia. It was brought to Moscow from Siberia. The upper parts were ground into powder and sprinkled on wounds, which healed quickly. For a long time, only the elite were treated with this remedy - the king and the boyars. Over time, St. John's wort was also found in central Russia.

I am not a doctor. Everything that is written here is my personal experience and how I remember the recommendations of the doctors who helped me.

That's what I do when I get hurt. If the doctors correct me - welcome. I was prompted to write this text by the surprising ignorance of some citizens in this matter.

Basically, treatment consists of two phases. Wound decontamination and healing. It is important to understand that one phase does not replace another and trying to heal an inflamed wound is hopeless.

1. Decontamination of the wound - elimination of dirt and elimination of infection,. Nothing will survive without it. In Asia, whites usually do not heal well, so any scratch must be disinfected.

So, they fell off the bike, got scratched - the knee was peeled off, the elbow was the shoulder, the area was large. Or they stumbled, planted a knee. What is the course of action?

Wash first.

If you are on the road and there is nothing - wash the wound with running tap water. Go to any house, shop, in Asia they will not refuse. Better to wash with bottled water. Even better is better saline. It is necessary to remove all dirt from the wound, even if it is very painful. Help the body, reduce the infectious load.

It is very important to clean and disinfect the wound immediately, not after 10 minutes, not after 2 hours, but immediately. This will save you from inflammation with a probability of more than 50%. Many do not understand, but the infection takes time to take root. And at the same time, it (the infection) needs a fairly large concentration to make a breach in the body's defenses, so that even just washing with water, but without delay, will help a lot and it's better to wash right away than to go for half an hour with mud and buy medicines.

If the wound was washed with water and there is nothing else - quickly to the nearest pharmacy, if not - then 7-11. We buy saline, hydrogen peroxide, syntamycin ointment, betadine, bepanthen, bandages.

If not, then at least wash and disinfect.

Alcohol (available in pharmacies and 7-11), whiskey, vodka, rum, tequila .... Pour on your wound. Feel like Rimbaud! If the area is large, it is better, of course, hydrogen peroxide does not hurt so much.

Now you can look for a pharmacy and, without moving far from it, wash again (the dust has settled and blood is coming), disinfect, disinfect - peroxide perfectly stops the blood and disinfects the wound.

After that, bandage and go home. Before bandaging, it is necessary to roll up a piece of beaten with a swab, soak it with a healing ointment, and apply it to the wound. Then bandage.

Important, not a cotton swab! Do not bandage directly over a wet wound without a tampon!

Why? The swab will dry up. If it is a small tampon rather than a large bandage, then you will cause less damage to the wound when removing the bandage. The tampon will have to be soaked. This must be done with saline.

Why saline and not water? Because its salinity is the same as that of blood, and the delicate cells of your tissue in the wound do not burst from contact with it, so, unlike washing with water, it does not hurt.

If you just hurt yourself, did all of the above and came home, it makes sense to remove the bandage, soak the tampon, rinse again and apply an antibiotic ointment prophylactically for an hour, and then proceed to step 2.

If you already have inflammation, for example, you have not done all of the above and have a crust from under which ichor or pus oozes, and there is redness around, then this should be eliminated with antibiotics. It is possible in horse doses inside (Asian doctors sin with this in order to relieve themselves of responsibility), then you will have to restore the intestinal flora, immune system and fight fungal infections. A much better method is the topical application of an antibiotic ointment, synthomycin or similar. There are many of them, they will show them in any pharmacy.

2. Healing.

Again, in Asia, whites are doing poorly with this. Because the heat, high humidity, sweat flows. Therefore, it is very important to close the wound if you go somewhere. But to breathe. And it is better not to close the house, and make sure that it is clean.

In Thailand, betadine is sold in all 7-11, and in all pharmacies too. It dries and seals the wound. Which is very good for small (up to 1 cm) wounds. And if the area is large, then it is necessary to dry only from the edge, and then very carefully, and smear the middle with ointment. I use bepanthen. It is available in all pharmacies. Right into a clean wound. Under this ointment, the skin begins to grow. Without any crust. Such a wound should be kept open, washed with saline (sold in pharmacies) and smeared with bepanthen. (or other healing stimulant - the Internet will help you)

If you need to go somewhere, then the wound will have to be closed. It must be bandaged or sealed with a band-aid. But under the bandage, be sure to put a gauze swab soaked in ointment (not cotton!!!). It will definitely dry out. Then, when you return, you will have to soak it with saline. The cotton will leave fibers in the wound at the same time, and this will complicate healing. It is imperative to soak a dried tampon, do not tear! I understand that it takes a long time, but do you need healing, and not a new wound?

In this spirit, you need to take care of the wound yourself. It is much more effective, more relaxed and cheaper than in a hospital.

Scratches and wounds occur due to a violation of the anatomical integrity of the skin and mucous membranes as a result of mechanical impact. The most common occurrence of abrasions, scratches and wounds is careless handling of piercing and cutting objects at home and at work.

- the cause of long-term non-healing wounds

When the skin and underlying tissues are damaged, the blood vessels located there are affected, so wounds and scratches are usually accompanied by bleeding. It ceases to be released into the blood after 1 to 3 minutes under the influence of platelets - blood cells that have the ability to increase blood viscosity and “seal” the wound.

If the cut does not stop within 15 minutes, the cut is very deep or has torn edges, you should immediately consult a doctor.
If the bleeding does not stop, this indicates a violation of the function of blood clotting. The cause may be leukemia, hemophilia, insufficient platelets, taking anticoagulants. Poor blood clotting leads to the fact that any scratch or wound will heal for a very long time.

Influence of infections and diseases of internal organs on wound healing

Often the danger is not the wound itself, but its infection with pathogens. Bacteria usually get into the wound due to non-compliance with the rules of first aid.

First aid and cuts are foreign bodies, treatment of the wound surface with an antiseptic, application of a sterile bandage.
Microbes that have penetrated into the subcutaneous tissue provoke the development of an inflammatory process: the wound begins, redness and swelling form around it, and the victim increases. Suppuration leads to the fact that the period of wound healing is significantly increased.

Sometimes wounds and scratches do not heal for a long time despite the correct treatment. The cause in this case can be established by the therapist, focusing on the results of clinical studies. There are the following pathological conditions in which wounds and scratches do not heal well:
- diabetes;
- oncological processes;
- anemia;
- lack of vitamins and microelements;
- Irregularities in the functioning of the immune system.

In a person with these diseases, metabolic processes in cells are disrupted, which impairs the ability of tissues to regenerate. Sometimes prolonged healing of injuries is a temporary phenomenon that can be observed due to a decrease in immunity after SARS and other infectious diseases. If the problem of recovery from injuries is systematic, you need to see a doctor for a complete examination and correct diagnosis.

Wounds according to medical data are the most frequent traumatic injuries. Wounds disrupt the integrity of the skin. Depending on the depth of the wound, muscles, ligaments, bones, blood vessels and other organs can be damaged. As a rule, minor injuries occur at home. In this article, specialist doctors will tell you how to properly treat and treat wounds.

The biggest injury problem threat of infection. Therefore, the wound should be washed, disinfected and covered with sterile materials as soon as possible to prevent further microbial contamination. At home, minor abrasions and wounds usually occur, accompanied by damage to the muscles and skin.

They are called light wounds. Severe wounds include deep wounds contaminated with foreign bodies, as well as those with bleeding or those that have occurred more than six hours ago. Such injuries require unconditional medical intervention. They need mandatory tetanus protection - introduction tetanus toxoid or vaccines. Simple wounds can be treated at home with remedies from your home first aid kit.

Any damage to the skin, which is a protective barrier, opens the gate to infection in the body. Therefore, it is very important to treat the wound in the very first minutes in order to destroy the microorganisms present in it. Then it must be covered with sterile bandages or napkins to avoid possible infection with infectious agents.

Signs of wound infection are as follows:

  • increase in local temperature,
  • inflamed edematous edges,
  • shooting or stabbing pain
  • reddened skin around the wound.

The development of the infectious process in the future can cause such general reactions of the body as fevers and malaise. If an infection enters the wound, then the body turns on defense mechanisms that cause an inflammatory process in the wound, since that is where the attacking bacteria enter. As a result, a exudate, which contributes to the natural cleansing and washing of the wound. Infected wounds develop pus, which is a mixture of body cells and bacteria that are sloughed off by the wound. The exudate then decreases, and the vessels destroyed by the wound and scar tissue begin to grow. The wound begins to cover with a crust, under which a young skin is formed. This scarring process can take up to a week. May remain at the site of the wound spot or scar(this depends on the type of skin).

With the development of an infection, a “poor” location of wounds (in areas with insufficient blood flow or in people suffering from trophic tissue disorders; in patients with diabetes mellitus, those suffering from chronic renal failure, obesity or using corticosteroids or immunosuppressants), the ingress of foreign bodies, scarring of wounds is difficult.

How to treat and treat wounds at home?

  1. The wound must be treated immediately and not postponed for later. This must be done with thoroughly washed hands.
  2. The wound should be washed under running water with soap to remove dirt or sterile wipes should be used. The wound should be washed from the center to the edges to avoid additional contamination with microbes. Do not use cotton wool, as it can leave its fibers in the wound, which will provoke inflammation and slow down scarring.
  3. In the wounded area, all hair and scraps of fabric should be cut off. Scissors must first be treated with alcohol so that the wound remains as clean as possible.
  4. The damaged area must be treated with an antiseptic. Wash the wound itself hydrogen peroxide, and a water-alcohol solution of iodine can lubricate its edges. It is better to do it this way, since iodine can cause chemical irritation of damaged tissue inside the wound. Do not treat the wound with pure alcohol, as it burns the wound, creating additional damage. Alcohol should be used only for processing tools and materials.
  5. The wound after treatment should be closed with a sterile napkin, bandage or plaster. It is better to close small abrasions with a bactericidal plaster if it does not cause allergies in the patient.
  6. The frequency of wound dressings depends on the amount of exudate released, since the napkin, getting wet, becomes ineffective. It should be changed, being careful not to damage the tissue at the site of injury. To do this, it can be moistened with hydrogen peroxide or water.

Specialist doctors want to remind our readers once again that severe wounds require medical evaluation and assistance, and especially in the case when a person has been doing it for a very long time. tetanus shot Or he doesn't even remember the last time he did it. It is also recommended to periodically review the contents of the home first aid kit and replenish it with the necessary materials so that an accident cannot take you by surprise.
