Pain during urination in women. Causes of painful urination in women. Manifestations of pain during urination. Symptom complex of dysuria

Such unpleasant symptoms as burning, cramps and pain when urinating in women are quite common. They push people to immediately consult a doctor to find out the causes of this condition. Malaise may indicate the presence of an inflammatory process or infection in one of the organs of the urinary tract. What causes the disease and how can you get rid of it?

general information

Discomfort during urination appears due to the existing inflammatory process in the bladder or urethra. Women are most susceptible to various diseases of the urinary tract due to the structural features of the pelvic organs. If there are the slightest signs of burning or overthrow of the genitals, cramps and pain when urinating in women, you should immediately visit a doctor and undergo the necessary examinations to identify the root cause of a particular disease.

Possible causes of cramps in women when urinating

The most common underlying causes of infection in the bladder and urethra are:

  1. Poor hygiene of the genitals.
  2. Hypothermia.
  3. The entry of harmful bacteria and infection through the blood.
  4. Inflammatory process occurring in one of the kidneys.
  5. menses in women. The painful syndrome that accompanies menstruation can be of varying intensity.
  6. Existing sexually transmitted diseases.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia in women is marked by itching and burning during urination.

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia. The bacterium enters the urinary canal and develops there without showing any symptoms. In the absence of proper treatment for chlamydia, women face complications in the form of inflammation of the cervix and infertility.

Venereal disease - gonorrhea

The harmful bacterium gonococcus causes a sexually transmitted disease called gonorrhea. The root cause of the disease is unprotected intercourse with a carrier of the infection. The organs of the urethra and internal genital organs (vagina, female uterus) are most often affected. Typical symptoms include the following:

  • frequency of urge to urinate;
  • cramps after urination in women;
  • redness and irritation of the external genitalia.

Urolithiasis disease

A disease in which stones form in the kidneys, bladder, or ureter. The disease is common among women of different ages and provokes the occurrence of such symptoms:

  • pain and pain in the lower abdomen similar to colitis;
  • overthrow and burning in the vagina;
  • frequent desire to urinate.

Disease - urethritis

This disease brings a lot of discomfort.

Inflammation of the urethra provokes a disease such as urethritis. The main symptom of the disease is acute pain and severe cramps at the end of urination. The disease affects children, women and men at different ages. If you suspect this disease, you should immediately contact a gynecologist or urologist to avoid negative health consequences.

Trichomoniasis

Venereal disease, which has another name - trichomoniasis. The causative agents of the disease are harmful microorganisms of Trichomonas, which, when they enter the external genital organs, provoke an inflammatory process. In women, the disease leads to thrush and inflammation of the cervix. Signs of trichomoniasis: cutting pain during urination in women, slight heaviness in the abdomen.

Bladder inflammation (cystitis)

With cystitis, the walls of the bladder become inflamed and there are problems with the outflow of urine. There are characteristic cramps during urination, as well as cramps and severe pain at the end of the process. The disease affects mainly the female half of the population. This is due to the structural features of the urethra and genital organs. Cystitis is also accompanied by an increase in body temperature and the presence of blood clots in the urine.

Pyelonephritis

The disease is observed much more often and is more difficult than in men.

Bacterial damage to the kidneys and the inflammatory process occurring in them spreads to neighboring organs, including the bladder. Pyelonephritis has the following symptoms:

  • urine with blood;
  • severe pain in the lumbar region and cramps in the urinary canal;
  • sick general condition and fever;
  • rare urge to urinate or, conversely, frequent urination.

Candidiasis (thrush)

The defeat of the female genital organs by Candida fungi is called thrush or candidiasis. The malaise is manifested by burning and itching of the vagina, whitish discharge. A woman may experience pain in the pubic area, internal itching of the vagina, and burning during intercourse. A woman needs to treat the disease together with her partner with the help of various medications. For an accurate diagnosis, the patient must undergo a series of diagnostic tests.

If there are suspicions of ailments associated with the organs of the urinary system, a woman should consult a gynecologist, urologist or venereologist. The doctor will prescribe the passage and delivery of the necessary studies, the purpose of which is to identify the cause that provoked the disease and establish an accurate diagnosis. These diagnostic tests include:

  1. Delivery of a general analysis of urine and blood.
  2. Ultrasound of the bladder and urethra.
  3. Cytoscopy - examination (examination) of the inner surface of the bladder.
  4. The method of examining a piece of bladder tissue is a biopsy.

Any pain is a signal from the body that something is not right with it. And if a woman suffers from painful urination, in no case should she ignore this symptom, since it can speak of a developed pathology. What is the reason for such discomfort? How to get rid of it?

Why does frequent urination with pain occur in women? Diseases of the urinary system

The most common cause of frequent and painful urination is an infection that caused the development of the inflammatory process. Sometimes the factor provoking the appearance of a symptom is the formation of stones in the organ. Doctors mainly distinguish such ailments:

  1. Cystitis. Inflammation of the bladder mucosa is accompanied not only by very strong and frequent urges, but also by pain during urination. Throughout the day, a woman may feel soreness in the lower abdomen. Sometimes the disease is severe, complicated by hematuria (blood in the urine), fever, and a general deterioration in well-being.
  2. Urethritis. In women, this disease is diagnosed much less frequently than in men, but still the fair sex is not immune from it. If inflammation has developed in the urethra, then pain during urination will be felt at the very beginning of the process.
  3. Pyelonephritis. Kidneys in women are very susceptible to all kinds of infections and are easily susceptible to disease. The inflammatory process is accompanied by severe discomfort in the lumbar region, high fever, frequent and sometimes painful urination. The last symptom is usually characteristic of the chronic form of the disease.
  4. Urolithiasis disease. Calculi formed in the bladder and / or urethra are able to move around the body. At the moment of movement, they can cause a severe attack of pain and a sudden desire to urinate. When urinating, a jet delay is often observed when the stone closes the lumen. Sometimes a woman notices the appearance of blood in the urine if the calculus has injured the walls of the organ.

The first three ailments lead among the causes of painful and frequent urination. Any of these diseases must be treated as soon as possible: the infection can spread throughout the body, affecting other organs as well. For example, neglected cystitis can provoke pyelonephritis (ascending route of infection), and vice versa - kidney disease is often complicated by inflammation of the bladder (descending route).

Problems with the urinary system in women are mainly associated with such factors:

  • frequent hypothermia;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • weak immunity;
  • the habit of long to endure urination;
  • malnutrition (eating a large amount of too salty and spicy foods, fried, canned).

Also, a careless attitude towards one's own health plays a role. Many women prefer to self-medicate, which often only leads to aggravation of the general condition of the body. Against this background, the infection does not cost anything to develop at an accelerated pace.

STDs that cause painful and frequent urination in women

Treatment of any pathology of the genitourinary system is recommended to begin with a thorough diagnosis, in particular, it is required to check a woman for the presence of sexually transmitted infections.

Cause painful frequent urination can:

  1. Chlamydia. Caused by chlamydia. The infection affects the genitals, and can also affect the urinary tract and bladder. In addition to urinary problems, patients often complain of fever (up to 37-37.5 degrees), discomfort in the lower back and lower abdomen, burning, mucopurulent discharge with a sharp unpleasant odor. Chlamydia in women, in turn, can trigger colpitis (inflammation of the vagina), cervicitis (damage to the vaginal segment of the cervix), endometritis (uterine endometrial disease) and some other pathologies.
  2. Gonorrhea. Caused by gonococci of the genus Neisseria. In the acute form, the disease is accompanied by very frequent and painful urination, purulent and mucous secretions, discomfort and burning in the genital area. Nevertheless, many women (up to 70%) do not feel any unpleasant symptoms at all, therefore they are not even aware of the presence of a disease in their body.
  3. Trichomoniasis. The causative agent of the disease is Trichomonas. Often men turn out to be carriers of this disease: they do not show signs of the disease, but they infect their partners with it. In women, trichomoniasis provokes colpitis, urethritis, and also causes poor lubrication during sexual intercourse. The most characteristic symptom of the disease is foamy purulent discharge from the vagina. The remaining signs are typical for any STD - burning, discomfort, itching of the genitals, frequent and painful urination.

STIs are experienced by women who have an active sex life and often change partners. The main factor contributing to the transmission of infection is unprotected contact, in which a condom was not used.

Painful and frequent urination: treatment in women

Frequent painful urination is treatable, the main thing is to start it on time. The main focus of treatment is the elimination of the cause. Since the increased urges act only as symptoms, until the underlying disease disappears, the discomfort will continue to torment the woman.

Therapy is prescribed based on the specific case:

  1. With cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, antibiotics are often required. Herbal preparations are also prescribed to promote more active urination and reduce the concentration of urine. Popular among folk remedies are the use of cranberry and lingonberry fruit drinks, drinking herbal decoctions and infusions (from chamomile, St. John's wort, bear ears), warming with dry steam.
  2. For the treatment of urolithiasis, various drugs are used. If the calculi consist of uric acid, then citrate mixtures are effective, which help dissolve the stones. With cystine formations, it is recommended to use magnesium salts, which reduce the frequency of relapses. Sometimes stone crushing or stone expelling therapy is used; in advanced cases, surgical intervention is indicated.
  3. To get rid of STDs, a woman must be prescribed antimycotics, antihistamines, immunomodulators and vitamins. After completing the course, the tests should be retaken.

To relieve pain, traditional medicine suggests applying a bag of hot buckwheat or salt, a bottle of hot water, and a regular heating pad to the groin and lower abdomen. But heat should be used very carefully: in some cases, it further contributes to the spread of infection.

In case of problems with urination, it is urgent to start treatment: frequent urination in women disappears as soon as the main course of therapy is completed. If the symptoms are ignored, the disease will progress, which will only worsen the patient's condition. A disturbing symptom is unlikely to go away on its own.

The appearance of discomfort in the urethra (urethra) is not uncommon. Urologists note that almost a third of patients who applied for help to city and district clinics present this complaint as the main one. Moreover, in women of childbearing age, the frequency of discomfort in the urethra is slightly higher than in men, which is associated with the anatomical features of the structure of the small pelvis.

Why there is discomfort in the urethra

In both women and men, the concept of "discomfort" means cramps, pain or in the urethra. These manifestations of ill health may be associated with the act of urination and be felt at its beginning, end, or a short time after the release of the bladder. There are also situations when discomfort is not at all associated with the passage of urine through the urethra.

The stone from the urethra can sometimes be removed only in this way.

The reasons for this are very diverse and mostly the same in men and women.

Therefore, they can be represented as follows:

  • inflammatory process in the urethra (urethritis) of a non-specific nature, caused by enterococci, Escherichia coli, staphylococci, Klebsiella, Haemophilus influenzae, pathogenic fungi;
  • an inflammatory process that has arisen during the sexual transmission of a specific flora (mycoplasma, trichomonads, gonococci, chlamydia);
  • the passage of stones and sand through the urethra with urolithiasis;
  • inflammation of the prostate gland in men;
  • inflammatory processes in the genitals in women;
  • the presence of neoplasms of the urogenital region;
  • mechanical damage to the epithelium in the urethra during medical manipulations or sexual relations;
  • exposure to toxic substances or radiation exposure to the body;
  • conditions with reduced immunity.

All these factors practically lead to one thing: the occurrence of a pathological process in the epithelium of the urethra with the development of urethritis, which causes discomfort. Moreover, women have more opportunities for this, because the female urethra is shorter and wider than the male one. Therefore, in women, inflammation in the urethra is more dangerous, since an ascending infection can affect the bladder, ureters, and even kidneys.

Both one factor and their combined effect can lead to a feeling of discomfort in the urethra. For example, if a person has reduced immunity and has undergone bladder catheterization, then the possibility of developing urethritis increases several times. As for urolithiasis, the passage of a sufficiently large calculus through the urethra almost completely leads to the appearance of urethritis.

Catheterization can cause urethritis

How are diseases of the urethra manifested and diagnosed?

Unpleasant sensations in the urethra are a serious and alarming sign, so you should immediately see a specialist. Depending on what factors caused this, the clinical picture of pathologies has some features. In addition to the presence of complaints of burning or pain during urination and the degree of their intensity, the time of their appearance is also important.

So, if a sharp pain arose during the passage of urine through the urethra with a sudden interruption of the jet, then this indicates a stone that blocked the channel. If painful sensations appeared immediately after normal urination in a male patient, then this may mean a stone in the final segment of the urethra. Pain and burning throughout the act is a sign of developed urethritis.

Another major symptom is blood in the urine or discharge from the urethra. Often patients note (or frequent desire to urinate), fever, malaise and weakness. The inflammatory process in the epithelium of the urethra always develops with an increase in secretion and the formation of purulent masses that are excreted not only in the urine, but also between urination. They can become a sign of neglect, but most often they indicate a specific inflammation that accompanies sexually transmitted diseases.

So, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, along with damage to the genital organs, in most cases are accompanied by pain in the urethra and discharge from it. Feelings of discomfort in the urethra are not necessarily associated with the movement of urine. For example, if a person notes pain when walking or sitting on a chair, then there may be an accumulation of calculi at the junction of the bladder into the urethra. Also, some benign or malignant neoplasms that are localized in the pelvis or located more superficially can cause discomfort in the urethra.

Urinalysis for urethritis is quite informative

Taking into account the patient's complaints, the urologist examines the external genitalia, urethral openings and regional lymph nodes. He notes the presence of hyperemia (redness) of the skin and mucous membranes, increased capillary pattern, swelling, the nature of the discharge, soreness and swelling of neighboring lymph nodes. Be sure to specify the possibility of pregnancy, concomitant chronic or acute pathologies.

To clarify the diagnosis, it is necessary to do general blood and urine tests, urine culture for microflora, special tests for suspected venereal pathology. With certain indications, ultrasound of the pelvic organs in women is performed. In the general analysis of blood during inflammation, an increased number of leukocytes is noted with the appearance of predominantly young forms, an increase in ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate). A general urine test will show a large amount of salts with urolithiasis, with infectious inflammation - leukocytes, bacteria, possibly erythrocytes.

To find out exactly which microorganism caused the pathology, you can perform a smear microscopy (visually through a microscope) or inoculate urine on special nutrient media in a Petri dish. After some time, more often after 24 hours of growth, colonies are formed in the form of various growths. They can accurately identify the causative agents of urethritis. At the same time, their sensitivity to several antibacterial drugs can also be determined. To do this, special discs containing funds are placed on different parts of the colonies. If the antibiotic is effective, then the death of microorganisms is noted around the disk. Such a drug will be prescribed to the patient.

Colonies of microorganisms can tell a lot

If there is not enough data on the inflammatory process, but the patient complains of discomfort in the urethra during urination, after it or when walking and in other situations, then it is necessary to do an ultrasound of the small pelvis. Perhaps the cause of discomfort is a neoplasm or other pathologies. In view of the information content, safety and availability of this method, it is advisable to perform an ultrasound examination not at the end, but at the beginning of diagnostic measures.

How to get rid of discomfort in the urethra

Depending on the root cause of this discomfort, the urologist outlines a treatment regimen. With urolithiasis, the very first measure is the removal of stones and sand from the urinary system. If the cause of discomfort in the urethra is prostatitis or prostate adenoma in men, then the treatment of these pathologies becomes a priority.

Ultrasound helps to diagnose the pathology associated with urethritis

Whatever the urethritis, primary or secondary (against the background of other diseases), the therapeutic regimen consists of three areas:

  • Influence on the causative agent of inflammation.
  • Elimination of unpleasant and painful sensations in the urethra, relief of intoxication syndrome.
  • Prevention of the spread of the infectious process to other parts of the urinary system and neighboring organs.

The main direction - the fight against infection - is carried out through antibacterial drugs. It is advisable to inoculate urine for microflora in order to accurately determine the type of pathogen. But even without this study, the choice of antibiotics is in favor of the latest generations with a wide spectrum of action. So, effective in nonspecific urethritis are Amoxiclav, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Monural. They are taken either orally (by mouth) or by injection into the urethra or into a vein.

The correct choice of antibiotic will be carried out only by a doctor

With specific urethritis, antibiotics are also prescribed, but according to a certain scheme, and partners should be treated at the same time. If the disease is caused by gonococcus, then Cefixime or Ceftriaxone or other agents from the group of macrolides and floxacins are prescribed. With chlamydia, Azithromycin, Doxycycline, Erythromycin, Levofloxacin are effective. Fungal urethritis is an indication for treatment with Ketoconazole, Miconazole.

Another direction of therapy is symptomatic. To get rid of severe pain, painkillers are needed. If the pain syndrome is insignificant, then it is possible to stop it, as well as burning or cramps, by sanitizing the urethra (baths with decoctions of chamomile, sage, mint, which have an anti-inflammatory effect). If the patient's body temperature is over 38 degrees, then you need to take an antipyretic pill (Aspirin, Paracetamol).

In chronic urethritis, neighboring organs also suffer

With late seeking help, self-medication, the presence of concomitant diseases, it happens that the acute form of inflammation cannot be eliminated after 6 weeks of taking antibiotics. In these cases, a chronic form of the disease is formed, which will require even longer and more persistent therapy.

The appearance of discomfort in the urethra is a reason for an urgent visit to the doctor. Otherwise, the disease can permanently worsen the health and quality of life of a person.

Diseases of the urinary tract are not uncommon. Especially often they affect the fairer sex. This is due to the fact that the female body is more prone to disease-causing factors. The main symptom of pathologies of the urinary system is pain during urination. In women and men, discomfort in the urethra occurs due to irritation of its mucous urine.

Discomfort in the urethra is caused by infectious and non-infectious factors. For example, microorganisms that spread hematogenous, lymphogenous or sexually. Pain sensations are localized in the lower parts of the genitourinary system, as well as in the zone of the outlet from the urethra. The appearance of unpleasant symptoms should be the reason for going to the doctor.

Why pain occurs

Discomfort when urinating occurs due to irritation of the affected mucous membrane in the urethra with urine, as well as due to narrowing of the urinary canal caused by inflammation of the bladder.

Promotion of urine through a narrowed and inflamed urinary canal causes pain when urinating in women and difficulty in exiting urine at the beginning of emptying the bladder.

It hurts to write with genital infections that affect the urinary canal and genitals. With these pathologies, there is pain and itching in the perineum. Various factors cause itching and burning in the urethra. It may be an infectious lesion or a non-infectious agent, but discomfort in the lower abdomen and burning sensation after urination is a sure sign of diseases of the genitourinary system. These can be quite serious pathologies, such as, for example, tumors in the kidneys.

Routes of infection

The defeat of the urinary tract in women is ascending, descending, hematogenous and lymphogenous tracts. Ascending infection is the progression of infection from the bottom up. If personal hygiene rules are ignored, microorganisms collect in the lower urethra or external genital organs, gradually multiply and rise, causing urethritis, cystitis and pyelonephritis.

The descending path is the movement of the infection in the opposite direction, that is, down. Most often, the pathogen is localized in the kidneys, and from there it moves downward, causing inflammation of the bladder and urethra.

The hematogenous route of infection is associated with the entry of the pathogen into the bloodstream. With the blood flow, pathogenic microbes are carried throughout the human body. Lymphogenic spread of infection occurs when the pathogen enters the lymph flow.

Non-infectious causes of the development of pathology

Factors that are not associated with infection, but cause pain and burning in the urethra in women, are:

  • contact irritant;
  • allergic component;
  • interstitial cystitis;
  • pathology of the musculoskeletal system;
  • atrophic vaginitis;
  • kidney disease;
  • systemic pathologies (gout);
  • damage by pubic lice;
  • tumors of the pelvic organs.

Cutting and burning, pain and itching after urination occurs due to irritation of the perineum underwear, consisting of synthetic materials. Burning sensation after urination in women appears as a result of an allergic reaction to the components of personal care cosmetics or the irritating effect of vaginal suppositories recommended for the treatment of genital infections. Some diseases of the skeletal system (spondyloarthritis, arthropathy) can cause disorders in the urinary system.

Infectious causes of the disease

A painful feeling and itching is caused in women by such infectious processes:

  • cystitis;
  • vaginitis;
  • urethritis;
  • vulvovaginitis;
  • vulvitis;
  • endometritis;
  • genital infections.

With cystitis, it is observed at the end of emptying the bladder. The nature of the pain syndrome is increasing. Pain as well as discomfort at the end of urination are seen with KSD. They are caused by a violation of the outflow of urine that occurs against the background of blockage of the ureter with a calculus.

Very important: if the lower abdomen hurts, then you should definitely consult a doctor, since such sensations can cause serious pathologies of the internal organs, leading to critical conditions (appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy, perforation of an ovarian cyst).

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that cause itching in the perineum and burning during urination include the following germs:

  • chlamydia;
  • fungi of the genus Candida;
  • trichomonas;
  • gonococci.

STDs in women are often accompanied by burning, itching, and painful urination. This condition should be treated immediately, since the progression of the infection further leads to complications and a more severe course of the disease, which is accompanied by high fever, purulent discharge from the urethra, changes in laboratory tests of urine and blood.

The onset of pain in older women

Older women often have problems with urination. This is due to hormonal changes in the body, as well as a decrease in the tone of the muscles of the small pelvis. Pain in the lower abdomen at the point of attachment of the ureters to the bladder in older women develops due to frequent inflammation of the urinary organs. This is due to hormonal disorders that occur during menopause.

The urinary canal in older women is quickly injured, which provokes the development of inflammation of the urethra and bladder.

Symptoms of such a disorder are itching and burning in the urethra, pain and temporary urinary incontinence. Initially, this is a slight spontaneous release of a few drops of urine during sneezing, coughing, and sudden physical exertion. But gradually the process of incontinence worsens, which causes women a sense of shame and reduces the quality of life.

First aid

If there are cramps during urination, and there is no way to urgently get to the doctor, then you can try to alleviate the condition of the patient at home.

  1. Take an antispasmodic or pain medication.
  2. Drink more water - this will help reduce the concentration of urine, as well as its irritating effect on the walls of the urethra and bladder.
  3. Take hot foot baths - this reduces swelling of the mucous membrane of the bladder and urethra. The procedure is contraindicated in patients with varicose veins and thrombophlebitis.

The listed manipulations will not cure, but will help relieve pain in the patient.

Healing procedures

When visiting a doctor, it is important to accurately indicate the location of the pain, as well as the alleged cause of its occurrence. The method of therapy depends on this: conservative or surgical. Treatment of the disease is aimed at eliminating the cause that caused it and consists of a complex of drug therapy and the use of a diet. According to indications, surgical intervention is performed.

To make an accurate diagnosis and establish the cause of pain during a trip to the toilet, the doctor prescribes diagnostic tests. The most informative are the general analysis of urine, urine culture, as well as ultrasound of the pelvic organs. These procedures will help to identify which pathogen caused the disease (if it is an infectious lesion), as well as the resistance of the bacterium to various types of antimicrobial drugs.

Based on the results of laboratory tests, antibiotic therapy is prescribed. The patient is prescribed immunomodulators to increase the protective properties of the body, anti-inflammatory drugs (help relieve inflammation). If pain during urination is caused by blockage of the ureter by a foreign body, then surgical intervention is indicated.

  • acute;
  • roast;
  • smoked;
  • salty;
  • alcohol.

You need to follow a diet not only during treatment, but also after a few months, and the transition to the main way of eating should be gradual. It is important to observe personal hygiene, lead an active lifestyle, since sedentary work leads to the development of stagnant processes in the pelvic organs and contributes to inflammation.

Folk recipes

Treatment of pain during urination in folk medicine is carried out with the use of medicinal plants that have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and analgesic effects. A decoction of bear ears successfully relieves pain and facilitates the passage of urine through the urethra. For a decoction, you need to take 1 tbsp. spoons of raw materials, brew in a glass of boiling water, hold for a couple, cool and strain. After that, bring the volume of the broth to 300 ml and drink 100 ml three times a day.

Folk healers treat cystitis with a decoction of lingonberry leaves. To do this, take 1 tablespoon of the plant, add 500 ml of warm water to them and leave for 40 minutes. Then the infusion is boiled over low heat for 15 minutes (the volume of the medicine is halved). Drink 1 tablespoon three times a day.

Successfully used infusions of cucumber seeds, lilac flowers, cherry roots. The method of preparing decoctions is the same for all ingredients: 1 tbsp per 1 tbsp of boiling water, insist 30 minutes, cool, filter. After that, liquid is added to the initial volume and the decoction is drunk during the day in three divided doses.

Prevention

To prevent the disease, you need to monitor personal hygiene, use only individual things, wear underwear made from natural fabrics. Pain, as well as burning sensations in the urethra in women, is a good reason to visit a urologist.

Paruria - (manifestation in women of pain during urination), can cause many unpleasant moments and discomfort and turn out to be the most unexpected manifestation of a serious illness.

According to the characteristics of the manifestation of pain symptoms, one can make an assumption what caused it, but in order not to guess and start timely treatment, it is necessary to undergo a differential diagnosis.

Causes of pain when urinating in women

The most common causative factor for pain during urination is the female reproductive and urinary system, which is explained by the peculiarity of its structure.

For example, the oval bladder organ of women is anatomically located below the male one and is located horizontally, has a wider and shorter urethra. This fact contributes to the rapid penetration of infectious "agents" into the bladder, from where they begin their ascent.

That is why, polypous and fistulous formations, cystalgia, parauretal cysts and incontinence (urine incontinence), by tacit agreement, are considered to be purely female diseases, an important role in the development of which is played by periodic hormonal disruptions. Among the many causes of pain during urination, many do not require therapeutic intervention, as they are considered the norm.

For example, it can be mild discomfort and painful deurination (urination) after sexual intercourse, which is associated with muscle spasm in the pelvic area. Passes or takes place independently without any consequences. This syndrome is a common occurrence during pregnancy.

The use of poor-quality hygiene products and underwear made of synthetics can also cause pain in the lower abdomen in women when urinating, caused by irritation and swelling of the tissues around the urethra.

But dangerous infections and pathologies in which there is pain during urination in women, a huge number, which gives reason to pay special attention to them.

1) Among the diseases of a somatic nature that cause paruria, there are inflammatory pathologies of the urinary system due to:

  • the development of inflammatory reactions in the structural tissues of the bladder - cystitis;
  • inflammation of the renal structures -;
  • inflammatory processes in the urethra - urethritis.

Inflammatory reactions cause increased sensitivity of tissues and its swelling, which prevents urination, which causes pain.

2) The close anatomical position of the vagina to the urethral canal contributes to mild viral and bacterial infection, manifesting as a venereal, urogenital and inflammatory lesion of the female reproductive system in the form of:

  • chlamydial infection;
  • vulvovaginitis and vaginitis;
  • pathologies of the development of the uterus.

3) Urolithiasis and cystolithiasis. The development of the process of crystallization of urine in the kidneys and the cavity of the bladder causes tissue irritation and pain during urination.

4) Tumor neoplasms in the bladder disrupt many functions of the organ, including causing signs of paruria.

Despite the wide variety of causes of such an unpleasant manifestation, it is the nature of the pain during urination in women, their symptoms and localization, that give the right direction in establishing the diagnosis.

In almost all patients, it manifests itself due to urological problems:

1) manifested by cystitis, causing pain during urination in women in the lower abdomen and in the lumbar region, accompanied by:

  • burning, sharp pains and bad smell of urine;
  • frequent urge to deurinate and small portions of urine;
  • changes in the nature of the pain syndrome, it becomes pulling.

It is by these signs that you can immediately recognize the disease. In severe cases, they join - a feverish state with fever, pain with localization along the entire length of the urethra. The feeling of pain when urinating in women at the end and beginning of the emptying process indicates the development of urethritis. At the same time, they are noted in urine.

2) Urethritis provoked by infection of the urethral canal. Inflammatory reactions in it cause quite characteristic symptoms in the form of:

  • itching and burning symptoms in the genitals, aggravated by the act of deurination;
  • purulent substrate released from the urethral canal;
  • severe pain during urination;
  • general malaise and fever.

3) Pyelonephritis, which develops as a result of inflammatory reactions in the renal structure, manifested by violations of the process of filtration and excretion of urine, which is accompanied by acute pain during deurination and polyuria.

Pain at the end of urination in women, this is the first sign of the development of acute inflammatory processes of the bladder. The manifestation of acute and burning pain during urination in women at the end of deurination is an indicator of a strong inflammatory reaction in its mucous tissues and in the ureter, with symptoms of swelling and hyperemia. The process of excretion of urine is painful, the development of hemorrhages is possible.

A characteristic cause of this pathology is inflammation and irritation in the zone of the bladder triangle (Lieto) and the urethra, causing narrowing of the urethral canal. At the same time, it is very difficult to start the urinary excretion process itself, and diurination itself is painful and accompanied by a burning sensation.

Such discomfort is caused by various kinds of infections (infectious and non-infectious) or when the perineum and genitals come into contact with urine, when infected with genital herpes.

What, for example, is painful urination with blood? In most cases, the sensation of pain during deurination is not the only sign of diseases of various genesis. For example, the list of causative factors for the manifestation of pain with blood during urination in women is very impressive. This is a consequence of tumors and injuries, infection or the formation of stones in the urinary system. The most commonly diagnosed are due to:

  • Injuries and the presence of foreign bodies in the urethral canal;
  • Tumors of the urethra. Cancer pathology refers to rare pathologies and is often accompanied by urethrorrhagia;
  • Inflammatory reactions in the tissues of the urethra, manifesting itself in a scarlet color, without visible clots in the initial process of deurination.

If the bloody admixture in the urine has a dark color, and manifested itself during urination with pain in a woman at the end of deurination, accompanied by a burning sensation, this is a sign of inflammatory reactions occurring in the structural tissues of the bladder.

The same symptoms are typical for the category of sexually transmitted infections. Appears after one and a half to two weeks, after unprotected sexual intercourse.

With hematuria, accompanied by pain in the lumbar region and in the abdomen, renal colic is most often diagnosed. If the process is long-term, accompanied by swelling and the detection of protein and red blood cells in the urine, this condition can cause glomerulonephritis. Well, when inflammatory processes in symmetrical joints are attached, it speaks of the possibility of developing systemic pathology -.

Sometimes, staining of urine in a bloody color occurs due to the intake of certain foods or medicines. Often, women have a completely unreasonable panic when urine is stained by accident, menstrual blood that has entered it, which is taken by a woman as a manifestation of hemorrhages.

Pain when urinating with itching and burning

Signs such as burning, pain and cramps when urinating in women can never be groundless. They are a kind of indicator of malfunctions in the organs and systems of our body. The reasons for such symptoms may be due to:

  • stressful conditions;
  • the presence of chronic infections in the body;
  • endocrine pathologies (DM) and pregnancy;
  • a consequence of hypothermia;
  • a consequence of mechanical damage (during sexual relations or catheterization).

The main reason for unpleasant discomfort is the exacerbated inflammatory processes caused by an imbalance in the vaginal microflora and hormonal disorders, manifested by endometritis or andexitis. In addition, burning, pain and cramps can cause a fungal infection - and genital infections.

Or it can manifest itself as a consequence of physiological causes that do not belong to pathological categories. For example - provoked inflammatory processes in the bladder, not prepared for the "aggressive attack" of the act of defloration (the first sexual intercourse - honeymoon cystitis).

  • Even despite the pain and discomfort, rarely does anyone decide to give up sexual intimacy during this period. And the disease, meanwhile, develops and progresses.

During pregnancy women experience the same symptoms, but their growing uterus provokes them, squeezing the urinary system. The problem is safely resolved after childbirth. But sometimes after childbirth, there are cramps and severe pain during urination, which may indicate a rupture of the urethral canal at the time the child passes through the birth canal during childbirth.

Treatment of pain during urination, drugs

By their nature, women are never in a hurry to be examined and treated - any motivation (work, children, family and thousands of other reasons), just to delay this moment. To speed up making the right decision, there is a classification of pain symptoms that will help solve this problem.

  1. The manifestation of acute, sharp and severe pain symptoms indicates the development of acute pathological processes in the body, requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Dull, aching soreness in the lower abdomen is caused by infections and diseases of a gynecological nature.
  3. Dull and rhythmic pain symptoms provoke changes in the internal organs caused by increased pressure in their cavities.

A complete treatment regimen for women with pain during urination is compiled by a urologist, infectious disease specialist, or gynecologist based on the necessary diagnostics, taking into account the individual characteristics and age of the patient, and assessing the immune factor.

Therapy of the disease is carried out in accordance with the standards and clinical recommendations. The most effective technique includes:

  • Antibiotic therapy (with a course of application from one to one and a half weeks) with drugs "Azithromycin", "Doxycycline", "Ampicillin".
  • Appointment of antiviral agents - "Anaferon" or "Viferon".
  • Inclusion in the treatment regimen of antifungal agents - "Nystatin" and "Diflucan".
  • Painkillers of the NSAID group - Nimesil or Diclofenac.
  • Pharmacological group from the class of antispasmodics - "Baralgin", "No-Shpu" and "Papaverine".
  • Anti-neurotic and sedative drugs, such as Grandaxin.
  • Herbal teas based on horsetail, bearberry, lingonberry leaves and knotweed.
  • The use of medicinal herbal remedies - "Canephron", "Cyston" and "Fitolysin".
  • Immunomodulatory drugs - "Polyoxidonium" and "Echinoceu".

After stopping the acute stage of the disease, it is possible to prescribe physiotherapy. Patients should adhere to a diet that limits salty and pickled foods, spices and chocolate products, it is recommended to increase the drinking regimen. During the treatment period, you should limit sex and get enough sleep.
