Ural Airlines baggage rules allowable weight. We fly according to the rules: how the new hand luggage allowance will affect the citizens of Yekaterinburg. The minimum required by law

Any type of transportation provides for certain baggage allowances (passenger) or cargo (freight). This is necessary to control the ratio of carrying capacity and weight of the planned transportation.

Passenger transportation provides for free and paid baggage, which is determined not only by its overall parameters (size and weight), but also by the duration of the flight, the direction of its implementation and, of course, the class of service. There are two systems for determining the amount of free baggage allowed around the world. This is the weight concept, which sets the weight limit, and the piece concept, which registers the number of pieces of baggage.

Weight system: determines the maximum weight limits for free baggage allowance for air transportation for different categories of passengers. All over the world, certain standards have been adopted, which are supported by all airlines, if there are changes, then they are very minor.

This system for adults and children under 2 years of age provides for the following indicators:

  • 1st class - 40 kg;
  • Business class - 30 kg;
  • Economy class - 20 kg;

These restrictions include the weight of each passenger's baggage and carry-on baggage. If the airline changes these parameters, the passenger is notified in advance. The reminder is also placed in the purchased ticket.

Overall parameters (the sum of the lengths of the three sides of the luggage) also have limitations, namely:

  • 1st and business class - 203 cm;
  • Economy class - 158 cm;

It should be noted that in the aircraft cabin it is allowed to carry free cargo up to 10 kg with overall dimensions not exceeding 115 cm.

For each child under 2 years old who does not have a separate seat, the free baggage allowance is 10 kg.

Baggage limit system: Widely used on transatlantic flights. A passenger of any class has the right to carry no more than 2 free pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 32 kg. The total weight of seats is not cumulative. If the weight of the 1st piece of baggage exceeds 32 kg, then an overweight charge will be charged, even if the second piece of baggage is less than 32 kg in weight.

Permissible overall dimensions:

  • 1st and business class - 203 cm;
  • Economy class - 158 cm.

Carriage of oversized baggage is carried out only in agreement with the airline. The conditions for the carriage of such baggage will be explained to you immediately when booking a ticket. Loading and unloading operations of luggage during flights of any complexity and distance are carried out at the expense of the airline.

In the cabin of the aircraft in excess of the weight allowance, you can take the following:

  • ladies handbag;
  • Plastic bag;
  • Bouquet of flowers;
  • Coat;
  • Scarf or blanket;
  • Umbrella or cane;
  • A small video or photo camera;
  • Binoculars;
  • Laptop;
  • a book to read;
  • Baby carriage;
  • A small bag with groceries;

Valuable items such as important documents, business papers, medicines, various kinds of jewelry and fragile items are recommended by the airline service to be carried in hand luggage. Excess baggage occurs when the allowable free baggage allowance is exceeded. It is best to arrange it in advance. The fee charged for its transportation is set in accordance with the applicable baggage rates, which are valid on the day of payment for this service. Payment in excess of the standard baggage is recorded in the receipt issued during its implementation.

Crediting payment for the carriage of excess baggage is not provided. You can check this baggage as unaccompanied. It must be registered in advance on a separate air waybill.

It should be remembered that there is a list of items that are not covered by the free baggage allowance. These include:

  • Musical instruments that must be carried in the cabin with the obligatory purchase of a separate ticket;
  • Animals;

This baggage is transported separately, regardless of the volume of other items and hand baggage. Payment for its transportation is carried out in accordance with the tariffs in force at the time of payment for this transportation service.

Irregular or oversized baggage. It includes the fragile, most valuable and, of course, oversized baggage that is transported in the cabin, but with the obligatory purchase of a separate ticket for a seat. The restriction is the weight for 1 seat, not more than 75 kg.

The transportation of such cargo has some restrictions or rules that must be observed during the flight in the cabin of any airline.

  1. If the baggage exceeds the dimensions (weight and dimensions) of cargo transportation places, it is recognized as oversized and is transported in the aircraft cabin, namely in a separate seat, but the weight should not exceed 75 kg;
  2. If the weight of such cargo is more than 75 kg, then the number of tickets purchased is a multiple of the ratio of its weight and the norm for the admissibility of transporting oversized cargo per seat. Moreover, the ticket is bought at the usual rate, the system of discounts is usually not provided. Everything is documented in the ticket of the passenger accompanying this cargo, with the obligatory indication of all necessary fares. Even such tariffs with a system of discounts as:
    • For kids;
    • airline crew members;
    • Student rates;
    They don't work here. Payment for each seat is charged in the amount of payment for a regular passenger ticket, taking into account the class of transportation;
  3. Air tickets for the carriage of oversized baggage are not entitled to carry the standard amount of free baggage.

Checked oversized (non-standard) baggage, which differs in weight and dimensions from ordinary baggage, can also be carried in the general baggage compartment. The following oversized or bulky cargo is allowed for such transportation as:

  • Armchair for the disabled;
  • Baby carriage;
  • Bike;
  • Musical instruments;
  • And so on;

Everything is carried out according to your desire and agreement with the airline, which is issued in advance.

In addition to the rules governing the size and weight of baggage carried on an aircraft, there are restrictions on the carriage of certain items and substances. So, according to the “Short List of Items and Substances Prohibited or Restricted by the Conditions of Carriage on Board an Aircraft”, it will not be possible to carry gasoline, gas burners, fireworks or plastic explosives with you on an airplane. On the other hand, there are items that are forbidden to take with you in hand luggage, but they are allowed in your luggage. Among them are a penknife, a corkscrew, a saber, a crossbow and some others. So be careful when packing your bags before you travel.

Attention! Pay attention to the offered discounts and "bonuses" when buying air tickets. Each airline periodically conducts this type of advertising campaign. Be sure to ask about the availability of this information before the trip, in addition to the mandatory clarification of specific standards for free baggage transported, for the airline you have chosen.

Please note that these rules and regulations apply only to scheduled air carriers. Baggage allowances for budget airlines (Low Cost) differ from the generally accepted ones, as a rule, in a smaller direction. Some low cost carriers don't carry luggage for free at all. As a rule, you can pay for excess baggage in advance when buying a ticket and it will be much cheaper than paying for excess baggage at the check-in counter.

The baggage allowance on a charter flight is determined by the aircraft charterer (tour operator).

If you want to supplement the material, or clarify something, leave your comments. Comments on low-cost carriers are especially welcome.

Air travel is the fastest way to get anywhere on the map, but it is with this mode of transport that the problem of transporting luggage is associated.

It is not uncommon for a passenger's suitcase to either get lost or fly to another destination by mistake. Also, situations often arise when passengers have to pay for excess weight at the check-in desk. To avoid such problems, you need to know what is the allowable weight of luggage on the plane.

General information about luggage

It is extremely rare that there are passengers on board the aircraft who fly without luggage. The minimum set of things that each person takes with him on a flight is hand luggage. It includes documents and personal items.

Most of what you take with you is checked into the luggage compartment. As a rule, this is a bag or a suitcase. Each airline has its own restrictions regarding the carriage of things by passengers.

They concern not only the weight of the suitcase, but also its overall dimensions. On some flights, you can check in a suitcase weighing up to 30 kg without surcharge, while on others you will have to pay extra for it.

For passengers flying in economy class, almost all airlines have a baggage restriction. This can be a maximum of 1 piece weighing up to 20 kg.

Overweight is paid separately at the check-in counter according to the established tariffs. If a passenger travels with a child under 2 years old without purchasing a separate travel document, then the maximum amount of free baggage for him is 10 kg.

For passengers flying in business class, many airlines provide free transportation of two pieces of baggage, each of which cannot exceed 32 kg. And the surcharge for one more extra bed is quite solid.

Travelers traveling as a couple or as a group should be aware that many airlines do not allow luggage to be pooled. Therefore, tricks of this kind can lead to additional fees for baggage.

Carriage of hand luggage also has a weight limit. For different companies, the maximum value can reach 10 kg for one passenger.

However, in addition to a bag or suitcase with hand luggage, a passenger can also take outerwear, a blanket, a bag with digital equipment (laptop, camera, video camera, etc.), as well as other necessary devices (orthopedic crutches).

When buying tickets for flights of two or more airlines that have a code-share agreement at the same time, it should be understood that this does not mean that the baggage rules for each of them are identical.

Therefore, if you have to transfer, you should check in advance the allowable weight of luggage with each of the carriers in order to avoid unpleasant situations.

Permissible baggage weight on the plane of different airlines

Budget airlines have different rates for carrying passengers' personal belongings in the luggage compartment.

For example, when flying with FLYDUBAI. hand luggage on an airplane weight per passenger is allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage (up to 7 kg) free of charge, the dimensions of which do not exceed 56 * 45 * 25 cm and a small bag (for example, with a laptop).

Large baggage (up to 20 kg) is paid by the passenger in advance at the established rates, and the maximum weight of the baggage cannot exceed 32 kg.

The company offers its customers the following baggage allowance conditions. There is an option that costs 15 euros and is paid in advance, it is called baggage allowance. At the airport, you will have to pay an amount of 30 euros for the same luggage, if you do not do this in advance.

The weight of free baggage on the plane reaches 23 kg. Free transportation of 2 pieces of personal items in the luggage compartment is possible with the FlyFlex option.

The leader of passenger transportation in Russia, Aeroflot. allows free baggage allowance up to 23 kg (dimensions 158 cm) and hand luggage up to 10 kg (dimensions 115 cm) for economy class.

For travelers flying in business class, respectively, 32 kg and 15 kg. The cost of surcharges for domestic flights for overweight is 100 euros, and for flights abroad - 150 euros.

those who flies with Transaero. you should know that the following standards apply for the carriage of baggage on charter flights - this is 1 piece up to 20 kg (dimensions -203 cm).

For economy class, the baggage allowance on the plane is 25 kg, and for business class - 30 kg. You can calculate the excess baggage fare using the company's website.

On LUFTHANSA AND AUSTRIAN AIRLINES flights the following standards apply. For economy class passengers, free baggage allowance is allowed if its weight does not exceed 23 kg, for business class - 32 kg.

Hand luggage - one piece (8 kg) and two pieces (8 kg each) in economy and business class, respectively. The overweight surcharge costs 50 euros for domestic European flights, for intercontinental flights it will be 100 euros for economy class and 100 and 200 euros for business class.

For passengers flying with EMIRATES, the free baggage allowance standards for budget travelers are as follows: baggage allowance that does not exceed 30 kg and carry-on baggage (up to 7 kg). For business class: luggage up to 40 kg (1 piece), hand luggage - 2 pieces (up to 12 kg).

Turkish Airlines TURKISH AIRLINES allow free baggage allowance up to 20 kg in economy class (hand luggage - up to 8 kg), and up to 30 kg in business class (hand luggage 2 pieces of 8 kg each).

CZECH AIRLINES allows free transportation in economy class: 1 piece of baggage (up to 23 kg) and 1 piece of hand luggage (up to 8 kg). In business class: 2 pieces with a total weight of up to 32 kg, 2 pieces of hand luggage with a total weight of up to 12 kg.

All detailed information regarding free baggage allowance and airline standards must be obtained prior to travel.

Permissible weight of baggage on the plane Ural Airlines

Perhaps, everyone is familiar with the state when it is impossible to think about anything other than the most long-awaited day from which your vacation begins.

Carriage of luggage on the plane: rules

You catch your eye on a voluminous suitcase, which has been languishing in a corner for a whole year, waiting for the hostess to finally fill it “to the heap” with fashionable dresses and multi-colored bikinis.

But you should not succumb to the “suitcase mood” and put all things in a row into it. First, remember about the rules of baggage. And if you are flying on an airplane for the first time, then re-read these rules several times to avoid possible misunderstandings.

Aircraft baggage: weight

When collecting luggage on a plane, please note that in Russia, as in other countries of the world, there are strict regulations that limit the size, weight and contents of luggage.

Each passenger has the right to take baggage free of charge on the plane weighing: 20 kg if he is flying in economy class, 30 kg if flying in business class and 40 kg in first class.

Usually, this rate includes the total weight of hand luggage and baggage. However, some airlines do not include carry-on baggage within this scope. Therefore, when buying a ticket, be sure to check the baggage allowance of a particular airline. Baggage size also matters - the total sum of the three dimensions should not exceed 203 cm for business class and 158 cm for economy class.

Baggage on the plane excess and overload

If the dimensions and weight of baggage exceed the allowable limits. you will have to pay extra in accordance with the tariffs of the airline.

Usually excess baggage is paid at the rate of 1-2% of the cost of economy class one way per kg. All problems related to excess baggage should be resolved in advance.

In addition to checked baggage, each passenger can take hand luggage on board, the weight of which should not exceed 5 kg, and the size of 115 cm in the sum of three dimensions. For example, you can take a bag measuring 55x40x20 cm with you to the cabin, which can easily fit on a shelf or under the seat. In excess of the weight allowance, you can also take with you a handbag, a bouquet of flowers, a coat or raincoat, a scarf, an umbrella, a small blanket, a camera, binoculars, a book, a magazine, a laptop and a small amount of food.

What items can be carried in the baggage of the aircraft?

In principle, you can carry any item in your baggage, with the exception of those that are classified as dangerous.

  • For safety reasons, it is forbidden to transport flammable and explosive substances (paints, cleaners, burners, fireworks, gunpowder).
  • Also, you will not be allowed to enter with caustic, poisonous and radioactive substances.
  • Weapons and ammunition can only be transported with special permission in small quantities for private use. In this case, the weapon must be unloaded and specially packed for transportation in the baggage of the aircraft.

It is best to put things in hand luggage that should be at hand.(medicine, phone), as well as documents and valuables (laptops, cameras, cameras and jewelry).

Do not forget that luggage tends to get lost sometimes, so never put documents, insurance, vouchers and valuables in your suitcase, all this should be in hand luggage.

What can not be put in hand luggage

But what you can’t put in hand luggage if you don’t want to be considered a “terrorist” is all kinds of sprays and liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml. By the way, a harmless nail file and a manicure set will also be taken away from you when inspecting hand luggage, so immediately put all sharp objects in your suitcase.

Now in Russia and the EU countries there are new rules for carrying liquids on board aircraft, which allow you to carry liquids in containers with a volume of no more than 100 ml. At the same time, non-liquid things are often referred to as liquids: mascara, toothpaste, deodorants, creams, gels, foams, as well as perfumes, lotions, oils, drinks, etc.

If you are going to carry "liquids" in your hand luggage, purchase in advance special small jars with a capacity of 100 ml, into which cosmetics can be poured. All containers will need to be packed in a plastic bag, which will be sealed for the duration of the flight. An important condition is that the total volume of all containers should not exceed 1 liter per person. All other liquids should be put in a suitcase.

The airline "" intends to change the baggage allowance and hand luggage. The new standards look rather strange and atypical. Innovations will apply to tickets sold from November 20, according to sob.korr. website.

The main changes concern the cheapest "Promo" tariffs. Now passengers with such tickets can carry only 10 kilograms of hand luggage for free (plus a briefcase or handbag, a briefcase, printed publications, a photo and video camera, a bouquet of flowers and other items from the list of personal belongings in the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)). For tickets sold from November 20, there is a strange free allowance - 5 kilograms in hand luggage (plus the above personal items) and 10 kilograms in checked luggage. In addition, the hand luggage allowance has been reduced from 10 to 5 kilograms for all economy class fares, and not just for Promo fares.

The new norm, firstly, will upset passengers who are used to taking these 10 kilograms with them into the cabin of the aircraft (for example, in the form of a small backpack or a small wheeled bag). Secondly, it does not fully comply with the FAP, which stipulate only 10 free kilograms, but at the same time, in fact, giving the passenger a choice - whether to check them in baggage or take them into the cabin as hand luggage. It is likely that one of the motives for the innovations was a lawsuit against another airline, in which the court concluded that the passenger has the right to such a choice.

In any case, there are serious doubts that Ural Airlines will carefully check the weight of every bag that passengers carry into the cabin. In any case, when relatively recently many companies, including Ural Airlines, had a formal norm of 5 kilograms preserved from Soviet times, no one controlled the actual weight of hand luggage.

For passengers who wish to carry more than 5 kilograms into the cabin and do not check in their luggage, it makes sense to use online check-in or self-check-in kiosks to avoid trying to weigh hand luggage at regular airport check-in counters. The likelihood of hand luggage being weighed at the boarding gate is currently negligible. In addition, the company has not published any algorithm of actions in case of attempts to carry more than 5 kilograms into the cabin, which most likely indicates that no weight control at the boarding gate is simply expected.

If all this is true, then the innovations as a whole can be considered favorable for passengers with the cheapest Promo tickets. They will be able to check in 10 kilograms in baggage and at the same time retain the ability to carry a significant amount of hand luggage (plus personal items from the above list). For passengers of the more expensive Economy and Premium Economy fares, the innovations are rather negative - now they are at risk, when checking in their luggage, to face an attempt by check-in counters to limit their hand luggage to 5 kilograms instead of the previous 10. However, in most cases this is quite easy to get around with using the above list of personal items that, according to the FAR, are not subject to weighing or labeling and are not taken into account when calculating the cabin baggage allowance.

The baggage allowance for Economy and Premium Economy passengers is kept at the level of one piece of 23 kilograms. Carrying an additional piece of baggage for all fares still costs 2,000 rubles on domestic routes and 35-40 euros on international routes for each flight segment, that is, for connecting flights, the fee must be doubled. Free transportation of sports equipment is available only on Economy and Premium Economy fares.

It is not entirely clear yet whether the price ratio of the Promo and Economy tariffs themselves will change from November 20. Now, in most cases, the difference between them is much less than the cost of the subsequent addition of baggage, although it varies greatly from route to route. In other words, it is better to know even when buying a ticket whether you need to carry luggage or not.

Changes were made to the laws in the fall. Airlines continue to tailor their rules to suit them. And passengers - to be surprised, indignant, overpay and waste their nerves at airports. So what is the size and weight of carry-on luggage on an airplane now?

It seemed that the scandals associated with the introduction of no-baggage fares and the new rules for carrying hand luggage on airplanes had died down. But a wave of reposts and indignation has just swept through social networks: they say that Aeroflot has cut the list of things that you can take on board for free by three times, and even excluded mobile phones from it!

Let's figure out who cut what. And most importantly - what Russian passengers can take on board and what is the size and weight of hand luggage on the plane now.

WHAT IS HAND BAGGAGE

This is what we take with us on the plane. Whether it's a bag, a backpack, a small suitcase, a plastic bag, a basket, a picture, a knapsack... A small dog, by the way, does not apply to hand luggage, there are different rules for transporting animals. Luggage, unlike hand luggage, we hand over at the check-in desk at the airport and it does not fly with us, but in the luggage compartment.

LEGAL MINIMUM

Back in November 2017, the changes that the Ministry of Transport made by its order to the Rules of Air Transportation came into force. Important! MINIMUM is stated in the rules. Airlines do not have the right to make conditions worse, but it is better - as much as they like, a matter of their goodwill.

But first, the minimum requirements:

5 kg - the weight of hand luggage, which the passenger is guaranteed to take with him on the plane of any Russian airline free of charge. The order does not forbid airlines to leave more generous norms (say, allow hand luggage weighing 10 kg - such a norm applies, say, to Aeroflot and S7). And, of course, 5 kg must comply with aviation safety standards (that is, liquids - in containers up to 100 ml, no weapons, piercing and cutting objects, and so on).

! Changed the list of things that a passenger can take on board for free IN ADDITION to the free hand luggage allowance. It left: handbags, briefcases, briefcases, baby food and baby strollers, a bouquet of flowers. Outerwear, fortunately, also decided not to exclude from the list of free things. It was not in the first version of the amendments, and this caused bewilderment among experts and tourists - how can one fly in our northern country without jackets and fur coats, and even in winter? Officials listened, outerwear remained free. Also on the list - crutches, walkers, canes, folding wheelchairs if they fit under the seat or on a shelf above it.

! Mobile phones, cameras, laptops and other gadgets as well umbrellas and books, have been excluded from the list of things that can be taken into the cabin for free ABOVE the hand luggage allowance. Argument of the Ministry of Transport: they can be put away in a handbag, briefcase or backpack. With a mobile phone - no problem, you can put it in your pocket, and it's light, it won't create an advantage. But a professional camera or a laptop, taken together, may well. IMPORTANT! The fact that the phone and other gadgets were excluded from the list of free things does not mean at all that they will certainly take money for a cell phone or tablet when boarding a plane. It’s just that they, along with all things, must meet the norm that applies to this carrier. There are no more exceptions for gadgets.

However, this list included medicines, purchases from duty free shops and backpacks, which is really helpful. True, there is a reservation about backpacks in the order: the weight and dimensions of "free" backpacks are set by the carrier.

! Airlines can weigh hand luggage not only at the check-in counter, but also when boarding a flight. Technically, it's easy. Now many airports have frames that control the size of things: if it fits, take it on the plane, if not, check in your luggage. They can also put scales at the boarding gates. It is clear that only those bags and backpacks that raise doubts about their weight, and not everything in a row, will be measured and weighed. This is no longer from an order, but from common sense it follows - it is unprofitable for the airline to delay the landing.

And now let's look specifically at each airline: who operates strictly according to the "living wage", and who left or introduced more generous standards for hand luggage.

AEROFLOT: WE MEASURE AND CHECK

In addition to this, a Utair passenger can take into the aircraft cabin free of charge:

- backpack with dimensions not exceeding 40x25x20 cm, weighing not more than 5 kg, or handbag, or a briefcase with things invested in a backpack, or a bag, or a briefcase;

Bouquet of flowers; outerwear; baby food for the child during the flight; suit in a suitcase;

A device for carrying a child (a cradle, restraint systems (devices) for children under two years of age, a pram and other devices) with dimensions not exceeding 65x40x20 cm;

Medicines and diet food for the duration of the flight;

Crutches, canes, walkers, rollators, a folding wheelchair used by a passenger and having dimensions that allow it to be safely placed on a shelf above the passenger seat or under the seat in front of the seat in front;

Goods purchased at duty-free shops at the airport, packed in one sealed (sealed) plastic bag, weighing no more than 3 kg.

Of the differences: more generous sizes of a backpack and a baby stroller, the size of a duty-free package is not limited (although here little depends on the passenger, in which one they will pack it in the store).

"VICTORY": DIFFERENCE OF WEIGHT AND SIZE

If Pobeda had just strict standards, no one would be surprised. But they are also unique! The only domestic low-cost airline does not limit the weight of hand luggage at all! And even its quantity. Unexpected, right? So take as much as you want? And why don’t tourists rejoice and scribble praises about the attraction of unheard-of generosity?

It's very simple: everything that you take into the cabin of the Pobeda aircraft should be no more than . And this total size of ALL items- and just hand luggage, and what is listed in the Federal Aviation Regulations. Outerwear, backpack, handbag, bag, baby food and so on (see above).

I quote the rules of "Victory": "For safe placement in the passenger cabin, the maximum total dimensions of hand luggage and things from paragraph 135 of FAP-82 (these are the ones that you can take in addition to free hand luggage. - Ed.) must not exceed 36 x 30 x 27 centimeters (the total size of all items). Hand luggage and things from paragraph 135 of FAR-82 are not limited in quantity and weight, but must be freely placed in the calibrator (meter).

Now imagine how you fit a bag, coat and laptop into this box, where the largest side is only 36 cm. We'll have to choose one thing, and even then it's not a fact that it will fit. About a suitcase on wheels, if it is not a puppet, you can immediately forget. About a large laptop - too.

Excess baggage at the airport may result in additional costs. Before you go on a trip, you should find out in advance what cargo allowances are accepted by Aeroflot, S7, Ural Airlines and many others and.

Weighing luggage at the airport

There are 2 systems:

  • weight;
  • depending on the number of seats.

If we talk about the first, then it only assumes that the weight of your luggage will be limited. For example, if you can carry only 20 kg, then without additional payment you can take only 2 suitcases with you, the weight of each should not exceed 10 kg. Anything over 20 kg will be considered excess of the norm by the airline. You will have to pay extra for overweight baggage.

For example, an airline has determined that 20 kg can be carried. You take 2 suitcases with you. 1 bag is 17 kg and 2 bag is 11 kg. You need to calculate the total amount, it is 28 kg. Subtract the allowed weight of luggage, in the end you will get the following value: 28-20=8. You will have to pay extra for 8 kg.

There is another system, it takes into account the number of seats. If we talk about an economy class flight, then passengers have the right to check in only 1 suitcase. Its weight should not exceed 23 kg.

Utair baggage allowance

For a better understanding, consider 2 examples.

Situation 1. You took 2 suitcases with you on your trip. You loaded the first one lightly - 10 kg, but the second is heavier - 13 kg. Counting the total weight, you get 23 kg. But it is worth considering that airlines with such a system also limit the amount of luggage. As a result, you will receive an excess of baggage, it is 1 piece.

Situation 2. You have 1 bag, its weight is 28 kg. Although you fit within the number of seats, an excess weight of 5 kg will be recorded.

How much is overweight baggage

The cost of excess baggage depends on the standards that the airline uses, as well as the destination. You should always check with the airline for specific figures. Employees of Aeroflot, Pobeda and S7 will always provide assistance to passengers.

The cost of overweight baggage may vary from airline to airline.

If the carrier uses a weight system, then you will have to pay extra for each kilogram that is recorded in excess of the established limit. Payment is influenced by airline policy and direction. The cost is calculated taking into account transportation in economy class, while the highest fare is taken into account.

For 1 kg of overweight, an amount equal to 1.5% of the ticket will be taken. In addition, the air carrier may set a fixed amount. Usually the cost of 1 kg of overweight fluctuates within reasonable limits, from 5 to 10 euros will be taken from a passenger.

For example, you are going to fly from Paris to Berlin. In economy class, you can carry a suitcase that weighs no more than 20 kg. Your bag weighs 24 kg. We can say that the advantage was 4 kg. If the excess baggage fee is 10 euros per 1 kg, then you will have to pay an additional 40 euros.

Some companies have adopted restrictions not only on weight, but also on the number of seats. In this case, the cost will be calculated differently. You will have to pay extra for the extra baggage you occupy and for the extra kilos you carry.

For example, if you are flying from Milan to London, you are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 23 kg. Let's say you have a heavy bag, its weight is 31 kg. The airline has set tariffs, if the baggage weight is more than 23, but less than 32 kg, then you will have to pay 100 euros. Consider how much you exceeded the norm, it does not matter. In any case, you will pay 100 euros for an overweight of 3 kg and 9 kg.

What if you have multiple suitcases? For example, you took 2 bags with you on a trip. The weight of one is 20 kg, the other is slightly lighter. Let the second bag weigh 14 kg. In this case, there will be an excess, but already by the number of seats. You will have to pay for 1 more seat, usually 50 euros.

Please note that in some situations it is much more profitable to pay extra for 1 seat than to pay for the carriage of baggage in excess of the established standards. It is recommended to always have a small amount of money with you, then the demand of the airport staff will not take you by surprise.

It is worth considering another example. You go on a trip, take 2 suitcases with you. The weight of one bag is 26 kg, and the second is slightly lighter - 15 kg. It can be said that the airport staff will record an excess not only in the weight of luggage, there will be an excess in the number of seats. For carrying heavy suitcases you will have to pay 100 euros. Also, be prepared to pay €50 for 1 extra seat. As a result, you will pay 150 euros.

What can be done in such a situation? It is best to put some of the things from the heaviest suitcase into a lighter bag. As a result, you will only pay extra for 1 extra seat.

When going on a trip, pay attention to the fact that the weight of 1 suitcase should not exceed 32 kg. If an excess is recorded, then the cargo will be considered oversized. Most airports simply will not transport it, you will have to deal with sending things on your own. At many airports around the world, loaders will not carry bags that weigh more than 32 kg. They are forbidden to do so. Explore. Almost every airport is provided, but it is paid.

It is worth paying attention to one more rule. We are talking about coordinating the transportation of oversized cargo. Be sure to notify Utair or another carrier, otherwise the suitcase may not be accepted for carriage. The carrier has the right to do so.
