  • if you decorate cookies with icing, you can reduce the amount of sugar in the dough;
  • By adding different spices to the dough, you can bake a variety of cookies. For example, put cinnamon in one batch, cloves in another, cardamom in a third, etc.
  • If you use a cocktail straw to make a hole in the cookie blank and insert a ribbon into the finished cookie, you can hang it on the Christmas tree like a toy.

To shape the cookies, it is most convenient to use ready-made cookie cutters. But if you don’t have them at hand, it doesn’t matter. You can make do with improvised means. The simplest shape - a circle - can be easily cut out with a glass or a glass.

You can decorate the cookies in the shape of a star. On thick paper, preferably cardboard, we make a blank, cut it out and place it on the rolled out dough. Prepare a stencil in the shape of a man, a New Year tree, a Christmas tree decoration, or a star.

Decorate the finished cookies with icing and other decorative elements. This is where kids can let their imagination run wild!

If you make holes in the cookies, you can tie a beautiful ribbon or bow. These cookies will be a beautiful toy on the New Year tree.

Ginger cookie. Step by step recipe

  1. Let's start with honey, we definitely need it to be liquid. If yours is candied or very thick, heat it in a water bath for just a couple of minutes.
  2. Grind very soft butter at room temperature with sugar until smooth. You can beat with a mixer at medium speed. I usually grind.
  3. Cool the honey and add to the butter and sugar, also beat in the egg. Whisk everything together.
  4. Sift the flour and mix with ground ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and soda. Mix the bulk ingredients; you can sift everything together with the flour again to avoid lumps in the finished product.
  5. Add the flour mixture little by little and knead the dough. Knead quite long and hard, about 10-15 minutes, until it turns out completely homogeneous. If you suddenly feel that the dough is too sticky, add a maximum of a tablespoon of flour, no more.
  6. Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate for 1.5 hours.
  7. Sprinkle with flour, sprinkle the rolling pin with flour, and quickly, without heating the dough, roll it into a thin layer. Determine the thickness yourself, but I recommend 0.5 centimeters. While the dough is being rolled out, preheat the oven to 180°C, then quickly place the cookies in there. You don't want the dough to lie on the table for a long time, otherwise it will float.
  8. Now cut out the cookies from the dough using cookie cutters, and carefully, using a knife, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake cookies for no more than 7 minutes.
  10. The cookies will be soft when you take them out of the oven, but they will harden as they cool. It will turn out evenly smooth and flavorful.

Decorate the finished ginger liver with glaze as desired, leave overnight so that the glaze dries evenly. These cookies can be stored in a box for more than a week. “Very tasty” wishes you a bon appetit! And be sure to try cooking
