If the kidneys hurt, than to treat: medication and home remedies for eliminating renal colic. How kidneys hurt: signs and symptoms. How to understand that the kidneys hurt? Left kidney hurts - what to do at home

Pain in the lumbar region is a common symptom of acute and chronic diseases of the urinary system. Kidneys hurt - what to do at home and how to alleviate the condition if you can’t get to the doctor in the near future? First you need to determine whether the cause of the discomfort is really related to the pathology of the kidneys, because pain in the back and in the lumbar region can be caused by rheumatic manifestations or diseases of the internal organs.

Back pain in the kidney area: possible causes

If the back hurts in the kidney area, it is important to pay attention to the nature of the discomfort and general well-being. Many diseases manifest themselves with similar symptoms, and in order to understand whether the pain syndrome is associated with the kidneys or other painful conditions, it is important to know the characteristic signs that accompany a particular pathological process. Pain in the back and in the lumbar region can provoke the following diseases:

  • cholelithiasis (stones in the gallbladder);
  • (inflammation of the pancreas);
  • diseases of the pelvic organs;
  • and 12 duodenal ulcer;
  • aortic aneurysm (stratified);
  • degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the spine (osteochondrosis, spondyloarthrosis, protrusion of the intervertebral discs, hernia).

There are three main features to distinguish renal pain from symptoms associated with spinal diseases. With rheumatic problems, the symptoms are as follows:

  1. The nature of the pain is aching, pulling or sharp, shooting, aggravated by physical exertion, bending, turning, prolonged standing.
  2. There is no temperature, chills and fever, characteristic of inflammatory lesions of the kidneys.
  3. No pain when urinating. The appearance of urine does not change, that is, it remains transparent, while with damage to the kidneys, it becomes cloudy, the appearance of blood, mucus or flakes.

It is important to remember what events preceded the onset of pain. If the day before a person has become cold, wet his feet, or has recently suffered a viral infection - most likely the cause of discomfort is associated with inflammation of the kidneys. In cases where sharp pains in the lower back resemble a “lumbago”, they radiate to the leg and sharply limit mobility - the cause must be sought in the spine.

Kidneys hurt: causes and symptoms

The main causes contributing to the occurrence of pain in the lumbar region are the following diseases:

  • pyelonephritis;
  • glomerular nephritis;
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • urological diseases;
  • hydronephrosis;
  • glomerulonephritis;
  • kidney failure;
  • nephroptosis (omission of the kidney);
  • cysts and neoplasms in the kidneys;
  • dysfunction of the urinary system during pregnancy;

At the doctor's appointment, the patient must correctly characterize the nature of the pain syndrome. What are the pains when the kidneys hurt? By the strength of the impact, they can be aching, pulling or sharp and stabbing, by duration - long, continuous, or occurring from time to time. Painful sensations can be localized in one area or spread to the inner surface of the thigh, along the ureter, give to the inguinal zone and perineum. The intensity of the pain syndrome does not depend on the position of the body.

The main symptoms of inflammatory lesions of the kidneys are manifested by a general deterioration in well-being, weakness, high fatigue, sleep disorders due to increased pain at night. Violation of the functions of the body leads to the appearance of swelling, increased blood pressure, severe headaches.

Edema on the face and extremities is most pronounced in the morning, by the evening they usually subside. As the inflammatory process intensifies, there is a feverish state, chills, body temperature rises, sweating increases, symptoms of intoxication of the body increase. Appetite is absent due to nausea, bouts of vomiting occur.

There is frequent, painful urination with a decrease in the total daily volume of urine. In the presence of an inflammatory process in the kidneys, the excreted urine becomes cloudy, the color of "dark beer", or, on the contrary, absolutely colorless. A sediment, an admixture of blood or mucus, is found in the urine. When making a diagnosis, it is important to accurately determine the area of localization of pain, since kidney damage is often unilateral.

What to do if the right kidney hurts?

Pain on the right side may indicate damage to the right kidney due to an inflammatory process that affects the tissues of the parenchyma and renal pelvis. The cause of pain can be hydronephrosis, leading to atrophy of the parenchyma and an increase in the size of the kidney, or a condition such as nephroptosis (omission of the kidney). Most often, it is the right kidney that is displaced beyond its anatomical position in the fairer sex. This is due to the consequences of difficult childbirth, or weight lifting.

Pain in the right or left kidney can be caused by stones, the formation of benign tumors or cysts, acute or chronic course of renal failure, as well as the development of an oncological process - renal cell carcinoma, requiring urgent surgical intervention and donor organ transplantation.

Severe pain on the left or right side can be triggered by trauma or bruising, as a result of which the organ is subjected to mechanical stress and the risk of rupture. If renal colic is tormented at night or in the morning, the cause may be excessive physical activity during the day, the presence of chronic diseases, manifestations of nephritis, bacterial complications, or drug and alcohol intoxication.

If pain in the kidney area appears when inhaling, this may indicate the effects of injury or the movement of stones and sand. At the same time, the person's condition deteriorates sharply and is accompanied by painful urination with blood, fever, high fever, bouts of vomiting.

In addition, pain in the lumbar region manifests itself against the background of hypothermia, colds, gynecological pathologies or sexually transmitted diseases.

Left kidney hurts - what to do at home?

Pain in the left kidney manifests itself due to the same reasons as in the right. A feature of renal pathologies is a unilateral process, that is, not both, but only one kidney can be affected, while the other continues to perform its functions properly. In any case, at the first signs of trouble, you should seek medical help, undergo a full examination, which allows you to make the correct diagnosis and start treatment in a timely manner.

At home, you can take only those medicines that the doctor will prescribe. Self-medication is unacceptable - the kidneys are a vital organ that is responsible for excretory, intrasecretory and metabolic functions. Only a specialist can prescribe the correct treatment, taking into account the characteristics of the pathological process. Even folk remedies for kidney diseases are allowed to be used only after agreement with the doctor, otherwise the risk of unwanted complications increases significantly.

Kidney pain during pregnancy - what to do?

Nutrition Features

In the course of treatment, the patient must adhere to a special diet that reduces the protein component. It is very important to minimize the amount of salt that contributes to fluid retention in the body and the appearance of edema. Ready-made dishes are recommended only slightly salted already on the table. From the diet of a patient with pain in the kidneys exclude:

  • fatty meat, lard, smoked meats;
  • canned food, semi-finished products, sausages;
  • foods high in salt and preservatives;
  • spicy, pickled dishes, homemade pickles;
  • animal fats, egg yolks, hard cheeses, mushrooms;
  • , cocoa, coffee;
  • fatty sauces, ketchups;
  • any alcoholic drinks.

The patient is advised to observe an enhanced drinking regimen. At least 2-2.5 liters of fluid should be drunk per day. This volume includes pure drinking or mineral water without gas, fruit drinks, compotes, rosehip broth. It is necessary to give up sugary carbonated drinks, strong tea and black coffee, packaged juices.

The ideal option would be a light, dairy-vegetarian diet. The menu can include dietary vegetable soups, fresh vegetable salads with vegetable oil, fresh fruits, low-fat sour-milk products. Lean varieties of meat and fish are recommended to be consumed in small quantities (2-3 times a week).

Of the side dishes, preference is given to stewed vegetables, mashed potatoes, cereals (buckwheat, oatmeal). Dishes are steamed, boiled, stewed, baked. Such a method of heat treatment as frying should be excluded.

Folk remedies

At home, you can supplement the main course of drug treatment with traditional medicine. But only after consultation with a doctor and his approval. For pain in the kidneys, herbalists advise drinking decoctions of medicinal plants that have anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties. In the pharmacy you can buy herbal preparations based on horsetail, chamomile, mint, parsley, St. John's wort, lingonberry leaves, bearberry or dandelion. Dry vegetable raw materials are poured with boiling water at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. per 200 ml of water, insist for 20 minutes and take before meals for a two-week course.

The removal of sand from the kidneys is facilitated by the use of watermelons, lingonberry or cranberry juice. Twice a week you can spend unloading cucumber days. During the day, it is recommended to eat 1-1.5 kg of fresh, young cucumbers and drink more clean water.

Popular recipes for kidney pain

  1. Birch juice. Only natural birch sap is suitable for treatment. For two weeks, it is recommended to drink 1/3 glass of juice before each meal.
  2. Infusion of carrot seeds. Provides a good diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect. Dry carrot seeds (2 tablespoons) are poured into 400 ml of water, boiled for 10 minutes, insisted for an hour. The finished broth is filtered and taken 50 ml before meals.
  3. Flaxseed decoction. It helps with renal colic, has an antispasmodic effect, reduces inflammation. Flax seeds (1 tablespoon) should be poured with 200 ml of boiling water, insisted for an hour, filtered and taken half an hour before meals.
  4. Bearberry infusion. 300 ml of boiling water is taken for 20 g of dry plant material, the herb is brewed, infused for 40 minutes and taken for 2-3 weeks up to 3 times a day.
  5. lingonberry tea. A healing drink is best prepared in a thermos. In the evening, you should fall asleep in it 3 tbsp. l. dry leaves, brew 750 ml of boiling water and leave to infuse overnight. The next day, this drink is drunk instead of tea. To improve the taste, you can add a little natural honey.
  6. kidney fee. First, you should mix medicinal herbs - 40 g each of nettle, shepherd's purse, bearberry and juniper berries, combine with 20 g of rose hips and sweet clover leaves and add 120 g of dry rose hips. Place in a thermos 2 tbsp. l. collection, pour a liter of boiling water and insist for 3 hours.
  7. Infusion of herbs with fir oil. The composition of the herbal collection includes knotweed, oregano, sage and lemon balm, all herbs are taken in equal proportions (20 g each). To prepare a decoction, take 2 tbsp. l. collection, pour 400 ml of water, boil for 5 minutes, cool slightly and add 20 ml of natural fir oil. This infusion should be taken in the morning (before breakfast) and in the evening (before dinner) in the amount of 1 tsp.

If pain in the kidneys is caused by banal hypothermia, after consulting a doctor, you can take therapeutic baths at home. To do this, add 20-30 drops of fir, mint, lemon or cedar oil to the bath and soak in hot water for 15-20 minutes. After the water procedure, dry with a towel, wrap your lower back with a warm downy scarf and go to bed.

If you experience pain, discomfort and other unpleasant sensations in the area of the kidneys, you must urgently consult a urologist.

Self-medication is very dangerous and can aggravate the course of the disease. You can independently assume and roughly diagnose yourself. And everything else is the work of a good specialist.

The kidney is a paired bean-shaped organ that is part of the genitourinary system. It is localized in the lumbar region, at the level of the two lower thoracic vertebrae and the two upper lumbar vertebrae. At the same time, the right kidney, due to the liver adjacent to it, is located slightly lower than the left one (by 1-2 cm).

The functions of this body are:

- excretory or excretory;

- endocrine;

- homeostatic;

- metabolic;

- protective.

The kidneys play an important role in the body. So it’s not worth pulling with treatment and diagnosis.

Why do kidneys hurt?

The main causes of pain in the kidneys can occur with diseases such as:

  1. Kidney stones or urolithiasis.
  2. Pyelonephritis.
  3. Tumor of the kidneys.
  4. Atherosclerosis of the renal arteries.
  5. Benign tumors of the kidneys.
  6. Injuries of a different nature.
  7. During pregnancy.
  8. Reflux vesicoureteral.
  9. Tuberculosis.
  10. Kidney cancer.

Pain in the lumbar region is not always a direct indication for diseases associated with the kidneys. Quite often there is osteochondrosis in the lumbar spine. Interdiscal vertebral hernias give a similar picture of pain. Traumatization of nearby organs, acute appendicitis, prostatitis or prostate adenoma.

The formation of calculi (stones) occurs as a result of an increased content of cysteine or urea, oxalates, calcium.

Symptoms:

  • Pain is the first symptom that causes patients to seek medical attention. When the stones reach a significant size, then passing through the urethra, they cause severe pain. The left kidney hurts or the right kidney hurts, depending on the localization of the calculi (stones) themselves. It can also affect the lower abdomen. The duration of renal colic is from 15 to 40 minutes.
  • Blood in the urine. It can only be detected by urine tests.
  • Sand in urine. Just like blood, it may or may not be present.
  • Other symptoms. Nausea, urge to urinate, sudden and painful, the process of relief itself is difficult.

There is an asymptomatic course of the disease. The presence of stones becomes an accidental find. Then the patient himself decides what to do. It is worth starting treatment or leaving everything as it is.

In the diagnosis, urinalysis, ultrasound, CT scans help.

What to treat?

Treatment of urolithiasis can be performed even at home, if the patient's condition allows. At the same time, over-the-counter painkillers are prescribed: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen). And the means for a better discharge of stones - tamsulosin, nifedipine.

If the stones are larger than 9-10 mm, then most often they bring suffering to the patient, they must be dealt with radically. The following types of treatment are used: shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, ureteroscopy.

This is an inflammatory diffuse immune disease of the glomerular apparatus of the kidney, which is caused by past infections caused by streptococcus (tonsillitis, scarlet fever, brucellosis), vaccinations.

Symptoms:

  • increase in blood pressure,
  • swelling,
  • headache,
  • nausea,
  • vomit,
  • bilateral lower back pain
  • urination disorder,
  • decrease in the amount of urine
  • urine the color of "meat slops".

And all these signs of the disease appear 2-3 weeks after the infectious disease.

In the diagnosis, a blood test, urine test, ultrasound with a kidney biopsy helps

Treatment

Treatment is carried out strictly in bed in the hospital. Glucocorticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, diuretic, cytostatics, antihypertensives are prescribed.

Pyelonephritis

This is an inflammatory disease of the renal pelvis that occurs as a result of a bacterial infection, most often E. coli.

1) Diseases that cause disorders of urine massage: nephrolithiasis, nephroptosis, polycystic kidney disease, double kidney, anomaly in the development of the kidney, prostate disease.

2) Decreased organ reactivity due to diabetes mellitus, hypothermia, overwork, hypovitaminosis.

3) The appearance of foci of chronic infection: tonsillitis, adnexitis, sinusitis.

Symptoms

The onset of pyelonephritis is acute, begins with a high temperature, joining pain in the kidney (one-sided process) of a aching dull character, nausea, vomiting, headache, and increased blood pressure.

Diagnostics

General analysis of urine, blood, bacteriological examination of urine for the presence of a pathogen, ultrasound diagnostics of the kidneys, radiography with contrast, CT.

Treatment

- antibacterial therapy (fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, nitrofurans) 7-14 days;

- combined preparations 5-NOC (nitrofuran + oxyquinoline);

- biseptol;

- with high blood pressure - ACE inhibitors, Ca-channel blockers, β-blockers;

- immunomodulators.

This is a disease that develops as a result of a genetic (hereditary) predisposition. The parenchyma of the kidney is affected, more often the process is bilateral, with the formation of multiple cysts. Looks like bunches of grapes. The kidney increases in size, and the number of functioning nephrons decreases.

Symptoms

In adults, the disease proceeds in a sluggish form. Sometimes such a diagnosis is made already at autopsy. The main complaints of the patient are back pain, nausea, vomiting, blood in the urine. With a long asymptomatic course, patients may turn already in a more severe form, when there is an increase in pressure, cysts pass to neighboring organs, most often the liver. As a complication, stone formation is possible, and infectious and inflammatory processes in the body can also develop.

Diagnosis is based on the history, ultrasound and CT findings.

Treatment

Symptomatic: pressure normalization, infection control, renoprotective therapy. But such patients almost always develop renal failure. In such cases, without replacement therapy, nowhere. Applicable: surgery, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, kidney transplantation.

Progressive expansion in the pyelocaliceal system due to a violation of the outflow of urine, leading to atrophy of the renal parenchyma.

The cause is acquired and congenital diseases of the urinary system. Plus, diseases associated with impaired patency of the genitourinary system for various reasons are added to this.

Symptoms

The course of the disease is gradual. The main complaint is pain in the lumbar region of aching, dull, constant character. If hydronephrosis is on the right, then the pain syndrome can move to the abdomen. There is blood in the urine, nausea, vomiting with increased blood pressure, fever, swelling.

Diagnosis of the disease: palpation, general analysis of urine, blood, ultrasound, x-ray, radioisotope urography, CT.

Treatment

In the initial stages of the disease, conservative therapy is used. It consists of symptomatic treatment. These are anti-inflammatory drugs, antihypertensives, antibiotics are prescribed when an infection is attached.

If such treatment does not bring results, then they come to a surgical solution to the problem, aimed at restoring the function of the organ. In the early stages, the goal of the operation is to restore patency. In the later stages, this is plastic surgery of the pelvis and normalization of its size.

Lower back pain, as we found out, can be a complaint of many kidney diseases. Our goal is not to start and turn to a specialist in time. A carefully collected history, comparison of all complaints and confirmation of the alleged diagnosis with instrumental diagnostic methods is the key to success. Self-medication is not always the best solution to the problem. Moreover, on the basis of complaints alone, it is difficult to make an accurate diagnosis.

Unpleasant pulling sensations in the lumbar region, a feeling of fullness or pressure in the sides, cloudy urine - all this is a harbinger of diseases in which the kidneys begin to hurt. This condition is often accompanied by fever, chills, and vomiting.

Pain in the kidney area can be of a different nature (stabbing, dull, paroxysmal) and differ in localization (back, groin, abdomen). You can relieve pain in the kidney and cure the inflammatory process in various ways, which ones - only a qualified specialist will help you figure it out.

When the kidneys hurt, this can be one of the symptoms of a serious illness. Often there are accompanying signs:

  1. Swelling of the face, neck, hands (especially areas under the eyes).
  2. Frequent urination, in which there are pains in the region of the kidneys, along the entire length of the urethra, or in the bladder.
  3. Burning in the kidneys, turbidity of urine, its coloring in orange, the appearance in it of an admixture of blood, pus. At the same time, body temperature often rises, especially when signs of pyelonephritis or urolithiasis are observed.
  4. Pain often occurs in the morning, especially if the disease has arisen due to hypothermia.
  5. Pain and a feeling of heaviness in the lower back can manifest itself both on the left and on the right side. This often indicates the presence of a calculus in one of the pelvis.
  6. Pain in both organs at once at the same level - this condition is a consequence of the prolapse of one of the kidneys.
  7. The kidneys are very sore - it can be renal colic. Pasternatsky's symptom will help confirm this. It is necessary to put a palm on the lumbar region and with the other hand lightly hit the arm or press the lower back strongly with the palm of your hand. If the cause of pain is a kidney disease, it will react with an attack of acute pain radiating to the perineum, abdomen.
  8. A gray skin tone or a combination of a gray complexion with puffiness and bluishness under the lower eyelids also suggests that these are the kidneys.

First aid

The manifestation of pain in the kidney area is an intolerable painful condition, the intensity of which can even lead to pain shock.

This happens due to a violation of the filtration and discharge of urine during the inflammatory process in the kidneys. If it hurts a lot on the sides or along the entire length of the back, it cannot be tolerated, it is necessary to take measures to alleviate this condition.

With severe pain in the kidneys, first aid is reduced to the following activities:

  • be sure to take medicine that relieves pain. You can take medications that do not require a prescription on your own. These include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • You can relieve an attack of colic on your own by heating the lumbar region. It can be a warm compress, a wool scarf or a heating pad, but not hot. Under the influence of heat, blood vessels and ducts expand, which makes it easier for sand or stone to pass through them, the blood supply to the organ improves, and metabolic products are excreted faster;
  • in diseases of the kidneys, the process of removing fluid from the body is disrupted, edema and hypertension appear - an increase in blood pressure. Hypertension is dangerous for its complications in the form of a hypertensive crisis, stroke or heart attack, so diuretics should also be taken for pain. If possible, blood pressure should be measured periodically. If it significantly exceeds the permissible limits (120/80), it is necessary to take a medicine that reduces it;
  • a person with an attack of pain needs to be kept calm and helped to take a horizontal position. The “fetal position” helps a lot. You need to lie down, if the kidney hurts, on your side and bend your legs at the knees, press them to your stomach as much as possible and wrap your arms around them if possible;
  • immediately call an ambulance;
  • sometimes the pain cannot be relieved with simple painkillers, then strong opiates are needed. They can only be used by emergency medical personnel or a hospital hospital.

What to do next

If the kidneys hurt, it is necessary to conduct a differential diagnosis and find out the cause of the discomfort.

To do this, you need to come to an appointment with a urologist, who, during an on-site examination, will be able to exclude another pathology that causes pain, prescribe the necessary diagnostic measures, primarily a clinical blood and urine test to identify the inflammatory process.

This will be evidenced by blood in the urine, a high content of leukocytes, protein, cylinders and salts, from which stones are formed. The stone is the main cause of severe pain in the groin, back and lower back.

It blocks or significantly impedes the passage of fluid through the urethra, there is a violation of the outflow of urine, waste products are not excreted from the body and, accumulating in it, contribute to its poisoning and the development of kidney failure.

This condition is so dangerous that it can lead to organ failure and, as a result, to death.

Diseases associated with pathologies of the urinary system should only be dealt with by a specialist, since improper treatment of the inflammatory process can lead to the development of chronic diseases (pyelo-, glomerulonephritis, etc.), then the disease will need to be treated for life.

The course of the disease will depend on many provoking factors (such as alcohol consumption, hypothermia, infections of the genitourinary system).

Also, pressure on the urinary system increases during pregnancy, when it is forced to filter urine more intensively and withstand the weight of the fetus. At this time, it is necessary to carefully monitor the volume of fluid drunk and excreted in order to avoid edema and the development of kidney pathologies.

Kidney treatment at home

At home, they are treated with infusions of herbs, decoctions of rhizomes, homeopathic preparations. Tinctures of birch leaves, bearberry, corn stigmas, licorice root and celery perfectly cope with the inflammatory process, help dissolve stones and have a diuretic effect.

Drink such decoctions in a quarter cup 3-4 times a day. If the kidneys began to hurt from the cold, then decoctions of linden and chamomile, as well as a warm compress on the lumbar region, will save you from pain. Homeopathic medicines include herbal alcohol tinctures.

Drugs for kidney pain are designed to both relieve symptoms and have a therapeutic effect. Medications can only be taken if prescribed by a doctor. You can drink antispasmodics on your own for pain.

They relieve an attack, relieve suffering for a while and allow the body to recover. The main drug treatment and specific drugs are prescribed by the doctor after a preliminary diagnosis.

Diet

The health and normal functioning of the organs of the excretory system will largely depend on compliance with the rules of nutrition for kidney diseases.

The use of spicy, spicy, fatty and fried foods, alcohol is strictly prohibited. This can lead to acute or chronic illness. It is necessary to drink more liquid in order for the body to remove harmful toxins from the body.

Folk remedies

Treatment with folk remedies for pain involves the use of various infusions (mint, sage, linden) and decoctions (chamomile, sage, immortelle). If the kidneys are aching, drinking plenty of water, infusions of lingonberries, wild rose, and horsetail helps.

These herbs are doing well. They are most often recommended if patients ask how to relieve kidney pain in folk ways. It is also practiced to treat hunger after a day after three and limit protein foods with a predisposition to the occurrence of stones and sand.

It's important to know

It is important to know that the kidneys are a vital organ of our body. They are involved in the filtration and excretion of waste products of our body, remove the remnants of medicines, toxins and other harmful substances, return the necessary protein, glucose and other nutrients back to the body that support its vital activity.

With any discomfort in the lumbar region, with pain in the kidneys, this condition should not be tolerated. If left untreated, it leads to serious consequences, ranging from chronic diseases to kidney failure with a fatal outcome.

What medications you need to take can only be decided by a urologist, nephrologist or therapist, since each drug has contraindications and can cause irreparable harm to health.

Health must be protected: do not overcool, do not eat harmful foods, drink more fluids and do not lift weights.

The kidneys hurt in violation of their functions and various diseases. The symptoms are different though. Unpleasant sensations in the lower back also occur with diseases of other organs. How to understand that the problem is with the kidneys, and what to do about it, this article will tell in detail.

These organs are located on both sides of the spine, at the level of the lower ribs. Outwardly, they look like beans weighing about 150 g. Under the outer shell is a complex blood filtration system. Passing through the kidney tissue, the blood is cleared of toxic waste products of metabolism. The necessary substances - minerals, proteins, vitamins - are returned to the blood. Waste is collected in the renal pelvis, travels through the ureter to the bladder and is expelled during urination. Painful sensations occur on one or both sides, it depends on whether one or both kidneys are affected by the disease.

Pain in the kidneys is similar to signs of osteochondrosis, radiculopathy or intervertebral hernia, but diseases of the spine have characteristic differences:

  1. Aching or shooting pain radiates to the leg, aggravated by movement. It prevents a person from straightening, makes him maintain a tense posture.
  2. The horizontal position of the body facilitates the patient's condition.
  3. The temperature is not elevated, there is no chill, perspiration.
  4. Urination is painless, there is no turbidity, blood or pus in the urine.

Such symptoms indicate that the cause of pain is associated with the spine.

Important! With a bruise or sprain of the back muscles, pain in the kidneys is often attributed to an injury. But internal organs can also get damaged - bruised, torn or crushed. This is a dangerous situation in which you can not do without medical help. If after a back injury the appearance of urine has changed, an admixture of blood has appeared, the body temperature has risen, you should consult a doctor.

Other diseases also cause discomfort from the lower back:

  1. Stones in the gallbladder.
  2. Inflammation of the pancreas.
  3. Gynecological diseases.
  4. Ulcer of the stomach or duodenum.
  5. Aortic aneurysm.
  6. Acute appendicitis.

How to understand that the kidney hurts?

A characteristic symptom that speaks of kidney disease is a change in urine. The color, smell, transparency changes, impurities of pus or blood appear. Decreases the amount of urine produced. Other symptoms may also appear:

  1. Pricks, shoots or pulses on one side of the spine.
  2. Drawing or aching pain, feeling of heaviness in the lower back.
  3. Urination frequent, painful, intermittent.
  4. A person is tormented by thirst, dry mouth.
  5. Edema - permanent or morning - appear on the face, arms and legs.
  6. General deterioration of health - intoxication causes weakness, dizziness, loss of appetite.
  7. The body temperature rises, chills, nausea, vomiting begin.
  8. The blood pressure rises.

With pain in the kidneys and the presence of associated symptoms, treatment and observation by a nephrologist is required.

Why do kidneys hurt?

The kidneys can hurt from the fact that a person drank a lot of fluid, and they work hard, removing it from the body. Alcoholic drinks load the kidney tissues with additional work - the neutralization of toxic metabolites. With intense physical activity - fast running, training in the gym - discomfort arises from the fact that a large volume of blood is pumped through the kidneys.

Often, kidney pain is caused by more serious causes:

  1. Inflammatory processes - glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis.
  2. Infections - urological or venereal.
  3. Nephroptosis (organ prolapse).
  4. Complications after a sore throat, flu.
  5. Urolithiasis disease.
  6. Cysts - single, multiple (polycystic).
  7. Neoplasms - benign or malignant.
  8. Stenosis (narrowing) of the renal artery.
  9. Blockage of an artery by a thrombus, an atherosclerotic plaque.
  10. Injuries - bruise, tear, injury.

Diseases that cause kidney pain occur at any age. The nephrologist should determine their cause.

In children, congenital pathologies occur, inflammatory processes occur from hypothermia, and in case of violations of water-salt metabolism - sand and stones. Complaints of a child about pain from the lower back are a serious reason for contacting a pediatrician.

During pregnancy, discomfort in the lumbar region appears from an increase in the uterus, which presses on the organs surrounding it. Painful manifestations increase with exacerbation of chronic diseases, the development of renal failure. This condition is dangerous for women and children. The expectant mother must be hospitalized for treatment under the supervision of specialists.

How do kidneys hurt?

The nature of the pain syndrome depends on the disease that causes it. According to the description of the symptoms and the results of the examination, the nephrologist makes a preliminary diagnosis and prescribes tests to clarify it. It is necessary to tell the specialist in detail where and how the kidney hurts.

Renal colic

A piercing, unbearable pain in the kidney area is a symptom of renal colic. She gives in the groin, perineum, abdominal cavity, rectum. The excretion of urine decreases, blood appears in it, a cloudy sediment. The patient turns pale, covered with a cold sweat. An attack begins when the ureter exits from the renal pelvis. Urine is not excreted, causing acute pain in the kidney. Often the urine output is blocked by stones, but blockage by a clot of pus or a neoplasm is possible.

Only a nephrologist can determine the cause of an attack. All that can be done at home is to provide the patient with peace, call an ambulance. You can not try to stop the attack on your own. When the stone or clot comes out, the pain in the kidney stops. But if this does not happen, complications will arise that cannot be dealt with without the help of a specialist. A belated visit to the doctor reduces the patient's chances of a successful outcome.

Colic attacks are dangerous for pregnant women and children. Pregnant women with acute colic are often admitted to the maternity ward because the symptoms are similar to preterm labor. It is difficult to diagnose renal colic in young children who are unable to explain what is bothering them. They need hospitalization for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Note! Often, renal colic begins during the patient's attempt to independently remove stones in nephrolithiasis. Eating large amounts of cucumbers, watermelons, or diuretic herbal teas causes the stones to move and block the ureters, provoking an attack.

Painful throbbing on one side of the lower back may be a sign of kidney failure. This is a pathological condition in which the kidney tissue cannot cope with blood purification, so the body begins to suffer from intoxication. In addition to the pain syndrome, dizziness and shortness of breath appear, pressure rises, and the work of the heart is disturbed. Severe kidney failure can lead to death, so throbbing kidney pain cannot be ignored.

Aching, pressing or pulling pain

Kidneys ache during inflammatory or infectious processes. Pain in the kidneys is accompanied by urological signs of inflammation: the amount of urine decreases, it becomes fetid, dark or colorless. Pain during urination indicates irritation of the urinary tract. Edema, dry mouth, thirst appear. Weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting often accompany aching pain in the kidneys. Rise in temperature, chills and fever mean that the disease is progressing. If the disease is not cured, it will become chronic, then the kidneys will hurt with each exacerbation.

The back constantly aches with nephrolithiasis. Stones and sand irritate surrounding tissues, causing inflammation. If the stones move, getting stuck at the entrance to the ureter, there is a sharp pain - renal colic.

If the lower back aches periodically, when lifting weights, being in a vertical position, this may be a symptom of nephroptosis. Organs are held in place by tendons and fat. If this layer becomes thinner and the ligaments weaken, the kidney may move down or sideways. Tension in the ligaments causes pain. Omission most often occurs in women after pregnancy, childbirth, with a large weight loss. Such a pathological condition is dangerous because, when displaced, the kidney can turn, twisting the blood vessels. The access of blood will be blocked, which will lead to necrosis - tissue necrosis.

Pressing pain in the kidney is a symptom of a cyst or tumor. It appears when the neoplasm grows so much that it begins to put pressure on the nerve endings. Pressing pain in neoplasms is accompanied by weight loss, loss of appetite, weakness, sweating. With such symptoms, it is unacceptable to waste time on self-medication. Oncological diseases develop imperceptibly, the pain syndrome appears at a late stage of the disease, when it is difficult to cure it.

What should be done if the kidneys are sick?

Contact a doctor. Kidney diseases are life-threatening, you should not try to cure them yourself. With aching, throbbing, pressing pains, you should visit a therapist and take tests. According to their results, the doctor will refer the patient to a specialist: a urologist, nephrologist or oncologist for a detailed examination and treatment.

If the pain is sharp, cutting, you should immediately call an ambulance. If the pain is tolerable, then you can use the following recommendations:

  1. Drink No-shpu, Papaverine or another antispasmodic drug.
  2. Observe bed rest.
  3. Stick to a diet.
  4. Drink clean water, compote or fruit drink - for the kidneys, these drinks are more beneficial than tea or coffee.

Therapeutic diet

A distinctive feature of this diet is the reduction in the amount of protein foods. It is recommended to eat vegetables, fruits, cereals, dairy products. Lean meat, lean fish and poultry are included in the menu 1-2 times a week. The amount of salt is reduced to a minimum. Eating boiled, stewed, steamed dishes from permitted foods reduces the load on the urinary system. Vegetable soups, cereals, salads with vegetable oil, stewed vegetables, fresh fruits - a varied, healthy diet for a sick person. Watermelons and cucumbers, which have a diuretic effect, are recommended to be consumed in small quantities. Herbal teas are allowed with the permission of the attending physician.

If the kidneys hurt, you need to be treated by a nephrologist, urologist. To prescribe adequate treatment, it is necessary to conduct a detailed examination and make an accurate diagnosis. Self-treatment for kidney diseases leads to severe complications, and in some cases - to death. Treatment under the supervision of a competent specialist will eliminate the cause of painful manifestations and restore health.

“Man says that life is short.

And I see how he shortens it himself.

Jean Jacques Rousseau

People for the most part are frivolous about health, not paying attention to ailments, they rush to work, on business. Significantly reducing the life span, deciding that the problems of the internal organs will go away on their own. One of the most dangerous diseases concerns the kidneys, which suffer, according to statistics, 5% of the population.

The kidneys are paired organs of the urinary system. They are located on the sides of the spinal column in the region of the lower ribs, at the top of the lower back.

Why do kidneys hurt, what to do? Painful sensations fall on a person with excruciating attacks or remind of themselves with pulling pains. A qualified doctor is able to find out the cause of pain syndromes, because the causes of kidney pain are diverse (a consequence of problems of the intestines, spine, liver or spleen).

Symptoms of kidney pathologies

If kidney problems begin, the situation becomes insidious. Some dangerous renal pathologies are asymptomatic in the initial stages or have signs so blurred that a person does not pay attention to them. But there are specific symptoms that make you seek help and advice from doctors. If the kidneys hurt, a person has the following symptoms:

  • Sharp pain in the side or lumbar region, extending to the inguinal region. It hurts on the right side, gradually soreness covers the left side of the body.
  • Mild, nagging pain in the lumbar region of the spine. The pain impulse increases with physical exertion.
  • Constant urge to urinate, separation of urine is accompanied by burning and pain.
  • The color of the urinary fluid has changed, sand, bloody inclusions, and mucus appear in it.
  • The daily amount of urine also changes. Dangerous signs of renal pathologies are anuria (lack of urine), oliguria (less than 2 liters) and polyuria (from 2 liters of urinary fluid per day).
  • In a person, in the morning puffiness and bags appear in the eye area. To the touch, the swelling is cold and loose.
  • Feeling of constant fatigue, weakness, sudden fever, fever. The patient loses weight, itching and constant thirst appear.

Often, kidney pain is confused with painful syndromes coming from the spine. With osteochondrosis, the pain syndrome manifests itself when moving, and kidney disease manifests itself during rest, when the body is relaxed, at rest.

Diseases of the urinary system

The urinary organs are the most important in the body. Their tasks include maintaining the balance of vital fluids and trace elements. The slightest violation of the well-established mechanism negatively affects the general well-being and brings discomfort to life.

Urolithiasis disease

Or urolithiasis. Pathology of metabolism, causing the formation of stones in the urinary organs (kidneys, bladder, ureters, urethra). The disease is common, it ranks second in disease statistics, coming after inflammatory and infectious diseases.

Most often, urolithiasis occurs in people 25-55 years old, symptoms in men appear 4 times more often. Kidney stones vary in size - from a millimeter to 10-12 cm, weighing up to a kilogram.

Kidney pain in urolithiasis is one of the most painful in humans. Renal colic begins suddenly, it stops in the lumbar region, gives sharp piercing impulses to the groin, the inner side of the thigh. The pain syndrome is so strong that a person rushes about in the hope of finding a more comfortable position in order to reduce pain.

The pain syndrome either rolls in waves, then recedes to return with tripled power. The attack lasts from 2-3 hours to 3-4 days, completely exhausting the person, it is accompanied by nausea, up to vomiting, frequent desire to urinate and diarrhea.

Why does the left kidney hurt? Renal colic is provoked by the movement of stones of small diameter, large formations are inactive, they cause dull, aching pain in the lumbar region. Stones can disturb both the left and right kidney or develop in two organs at once.

Discomfort also delivers sand in the kidneys, microcrystalline formations that are prone to leaving the body naturally. The exit of sand is accompanied by sharp needle-like pains along the ureter, severe pain during urination. The pain impulse radiates to the groin, lower back, legs, hypochondrium. If the edges of the grains of sand are sharp, the pain syndrome is piercing, scratching.

Symptoms of urolithiasis include:

Urination is difficult, accompanied by a piercing burning sensation. If the pathology is not treated, urolithiasis develops into renal failure and provokes the development of serious infectious diseases.

Pyelonephritis

An inflammatory disease of an infectious nature that affects the pelvis, renal calyces and the kidneys themselves. The bacterial microflora provokes the development of infection. More often, children suffer from pyelonephritis (this is due to the peculiarities of children's anatomy) and women aged 18-30 (the development of infection contributes to the onset of intimate life, pregnancy, childbirth). Elderly, immunocompromised people are at risk.

Inflammation of the kidneys makes itself felt with pains of a dull, pulling nature. The pain syndrome is constant, but not strong. If pyelonephritis has developed as a result of urolithiasis, pain impulses are sharp, paroxysmal (similar to renal colic). In addition to kidney pain, pyelonephritis is characterized by the following symptoms:

  • Muscle ache.
  • Increased sweating.
  • Swelling of the face in the morning.
  • Pain when urinating.
  • Paleness of the skin.
  • Nausea leading to vomiting.
  • Feverish conditions, chills.
  • Sharp pain in the lumbar region.
  • Temperature rise to + 38-40⁰ С.
  • General weakness, fatigue.
  • There is blood in the urine, it is cloudy with a fetid odor.

Patients with pyelonephritis tend to lie down, relax, such a desire causes stagnation of blood in the veins of the kidneys. The disease is exacerbated in dank, damp weather. An attack of pyelonephritis begins quickly, reaching a maximum in 1-2 hours.

Pyelonephritis is a dangerous disease, developing into a chronic stage, it can provoke life-threatening situations: kidney failure, suppurative diseases of the organ (abscess, carbuncle of the kidney). The most severe consequence of pyelonephritis is intoxication of the body, leading to sepsis.

Glomerulonephritis

Inflammatory processes affecting the renal glomeruli and tubules. The culprit of the pathology is streptococcal infections (pneumonia, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, tonsillitis). Glomerulonephritis is classified as an infectious-allergic disease. It can act as a separate disease and accompany systemic infections (lupus erythematosus, infective endocarditis).

This pathology is a common disease among children, it becomes the culprit of kidney failure and early disability. In most cases, glomerulonephritis attacks people under 40 years of age.

The disease develops rapidly, immediately passing into an acute stage. Pathology is accompanied by renal stabbing pains of a piercing nature. Soreness comes from two organs at once, giving to the lumbar region. In addition to pain symptoms in the kidneys, patients are concerned about the following manifestations of pathology:

  • Great weakness and lethargy.
  • Paleness of the skin.
  • A large amount of blood in the urinary fluid.
  • A significant increase in pressure (up to 170/100).
  • Oliguria (less than a liter of urine is produced per day).

A distinctive feature of the pathology is a strong morning puffiness. Massive edema can increase body weight up to 15-20 kg per day.

Glomerulonephritis is one of the most dangerous kidney diseases. The disease can be cured in an acute form, chronic pathology provokes kidney failure and organ failure. Patients with chronic glomerulonephritis require regular dialysis and organ transplantation.

Benign formations

Kidney tumors are caused by uncontrolled cell division resulting from a severe dysfunction of the immune system. Cells die in the body every second, they are destroyed by immune complexes, strictly monitoring the cellular balance. With a sharp drop in immunity, cells begin to divide uncontrollably, which leads to neoplasms.

Benign renal tumors are characterized by long growth. As the pathology intensifies, the patient's well-being worsens due to the growing pressure of the formation on the urinary tract, renal vessels and parenchyma (the outer shell of the organ).

With a small size, the tumor does not interfere with the normal functioning of the kidneys, but there is a risk of its transition to a cancerous state. Kidneys prone to the following types of benign formations:

  • Simple cyst. An outgrowth with a leg filled with serous fluid.
  • Lipoma. Fat deposits appear and grow to large sizes. Kidney lipoma is rarely diagnosed, mainly in women.
  • Fibroma. A formation arising from fibrous tissue. There are symptoms in women (this is a female pathology).
  • Adenoma. Hard, slight overgrowth of glandular cells. A rare type of kidney tumor, mostly young girls are affected.
  • Papillomas of the renal pelvis. Benign growths on the pelvis of the kidney, they are small in size and have a leg.
  • Angioma. Kidney formation growing from vascular tissue.
  • Myoma. A female disease, a kidney tumor grows from the uterine myometrium.
  • Lymphangioma. The life of the tumor gives the tissue of the lymphatic vessels.

In the male population, doctors more often diagnose the formation of tumors, women are more prone to the appearance of a renal cyst. Multiple proliferation of cysts on both organs is called "polycystic kidney." Pathology refers to hereditary diseases and can cause organ atrophy.

In the presence of benign formations, renal pains are aching, dull in nature. Why does the right kidney hurt? Pain impulses increase as the tumor grows (regardless of which organ is affected). They radiate to the thighs, groin and signal themselves with the following symptoms:

  • Increased thirst.
  • Increase in blood pressure.
  • The appearance of blood in the urinary fluid.
  • Polyuria (increased amount of urine).
  • The appearance of joint and muscle pain.
  • General weakness, weight loss and loss of appetite.
  • Prolonged subfebrile temperature (+37-37.2⁰ C).

If the temperature rises and reaches + 38-39⁰ C, this is an alarm signal indicating a sharp drop in hemoglobin in the blood. Anemia appears due to the fact that a growing tumor affects the bone marrow, which indicates a running process.

Nephroptosis

The kidneys are held in the body by ligaments (fascia). They form the renal bed, the pressure of the diaphragm and abdominal muscles helps the fascia work. Fatty tissue, located among the adrenal gland and kidney, also takes part in the process. But when the following situations arise:

Renal mobility goes beyond the physiological norm. Nephroptosis begins - omission of the kidney. Normally, the organ can move up to 1.5-2 cm. In pathological conditions, the kidney leaves the renal bed by 8-10 cm. Doctors call the traveling kidney “wandering”.

2% of the female and 0.5% of the male population of the planet suffer from nephroptosis. Most often, the disease occurs in people 25-40 years old. The disease is more susceptible to persons of asthenic constitution, with a weakened muscular apparatus of the abdominal cavity and insufficient fat layer. Pathology is more common in the right organ (the left kidney has stronger ligaments and is located slightly higher than the right one).

Manifestations of nephroptosis depend on the degree of development of the disease:

  • Initial stage. Symptoms are mild and manifest themselves as slight discomfort in the area of the affected kidney (dull, rare pain radiating to the lumbar region).
  • 1 stage. The pain syndrome manifests itself after a load or a sharp cough. If the patient lies on his back or side - the pain recedes.
  • 2 stage. As the pathology develops, the frequency, intensity of the pain syndrome increases. The pain radiates to the spinal column (the back hurts in the region of the kidneys). The blood pressure rises.
  • 3 stage. Soreness torments the patient with constantly pulling aching impulses. Soreness is also felt in the supine position. The functionality of the gastrointestinal tract is disturbed, appetite disappears, depression comes.

As the pathology develops, renal colic may appear, nausea is noted, bordering on profuse vomiting. Omission of the kidney provokes the development of pyelonephritis (infectious disease), hydronephrosis (progressive expansion of the renal pelvis), urolithiasis.

In patients, normal urination is disturbed, some people note bloody discharge from the urethral canal when lifting weights. A wandering kidney causes a miscarriage (causes a miscarriage), provokes a stroke, a heart attack. With proper and timely treatment, the prognosis of the outcome of the pathology is favorable.

Atherosclerosis of the renal arteries

The culprit of a common chronic disease is the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. Lipid deposits form on the walls of the artery of the kidneys. As a result, the vessels thicken and narrow, disrupting the blood supply to the organ. The development of a dangerous pathology leads to a cumulative number of factors:

  • Hypertension. With high blood pressure, the vascular walls are actively saturated with fat and gradually change. Vessel thickening is the first sign of developing atherosclerosis.
  • Diabetes. In case of metabolic disorders, the probability of kidney pathology increases by 7 times. The development of the disease is affected by a violation of lipid metabolism that occurs with diabetes mellitus.
  • Physical inactivity. The lack of muscle activity entails pathological changes in the vessels of the kidneys and the appearance of atherosclerosis.
  • Infections. The risk of pathology increases in the presence of cytomegalovirus and chlamydial infection.
  • Dyslipidemia. Imbalance of fat metabolism, which provokes the active deposition of fatty plaques on the vessels and the occurrence of atherosclerosis.

Obesity, long-term smoking is directly related to the development of pathology. Atherosclerosis often develops in people who abuse fatty foods, smoked meats. The causes that affect the appearance of the disease include hereditary predisposition and age (older people are more likely to suffer).

The intensity and specificity of renal pain depend on the stage and progression of the pathological process:

  1. At the first stage, the disease is manifested by the formation of lipid spots. Symptoms are practically absent. Pathology is rapidly progressing and moving to the next stages of development.
  2. The second stage includes the formation of large fibrous plaques. Immune cells strive for formations, trying to cope with deposits. Accumulating in large quantities, they provoke the onset of the inflammatory process. The decomposition / breakdown of fats begins, which are overgrown with connective tissues. The blood flow is disturbed, the patient feels aching pains on the side of the affected kidney.
  3. The third final stage declares itself by the active development of complications. Painful impulses have a paroxysmal, pulling character. Pain in the kidney area is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The duration of the attacks is different - from 2 hours to 3 days.

Atherosclerosis of the renal arteries is difficult to treat. Pathology can provoke the development of gangrene, peritonitis, give impetus to the appearance of a heart attack and stroke. In extreme cases, the disease is fatal.

hydronephrosis

A pathological situation in which urea is formed in the renal tissue. Urinary outflow is disturbed, urine accumulates in the pyelocaliceal system. The pelvis gradually expands, failures and an imbalance in the normal functioning of the kidney begin. Pathology is more often diagnosed in young women 20-30 years old. With hydronephrosis, only one kidney is affected.

Pathology is formed gradually, in the initial stages it goes unnoticed. The disease makes itself felt when an infection occurs in the body or an injury. There are paroxysmal aching renal pain, radiating to the lower back. With the progression of the disease, the painful syndrome intensifies. There is a sharp pain that occurs at any time of the day, which proceeds with:

  • Bloating.
  • Nausea leading to vomiting.
  • An increase in blood pressure.

The pathology is characterized by a decrease in urine output before and during an attack and a sharp increase in urinary fluid after it ends. If hydronephrosis occurs against the background of an infectious disease, the patient has an increase in temperature.

In the chronic, advanced stage of the disease, an increase in the organ is felt, the function of the kidney is impaired. There are symptoms characteristic of inflammatory renal diseases:

  • Blood in the urine.
  • Weakness of the body.
  • Drawing pains in the kidneys, radiating to the back.

Hydronephrosis is a dangerous disease. In the thermal stage, the disease provokes the development of urolithiasis, kidney failure and complete organ failure. There is intoxication of the body with decay products, sepsis, leading to death. A life-threatening condition also provokes a spontaneous rupture of the calyx / pelvis of the kidney - in this case, urine is poured directly into the abdominal cavity.

Other causes of pain

The kidneys hurt not only as a result of infectious, inflammatory diseases. Other conditions of the body can provoke an unpleasant painful syndrome.

During pregnancy

The expectant mother significantly increases the load on the entire body. During this period, a woman has to deal with toxicosis, weakness, malaise and fatigue. During pregnancy, when the body works under conditions of increased stress, “sleeping” ailments worsen and new diseases develop. Very often, a pregnant woman complains of pulling pains in the kidneys. There can be three reasons:

Kidney ailments negatively affect the development and formation of the fetus, they can provoke miscarriage, early birth and infect the baby in utero. Such situations are dangerous because during pregnancy, kidney diseases are asymptomatic or “hide” under appendicitis, SARS or food poisoning.

If the expectant mother feels pulling pains in the lumbar region, you can understand that the kidneys hurt by the following symptoms:

  • Severe swelling of the legs.
  • Burning and pain when urinating.
  • Sensation of incomplete emptying of the bladder.
  • Pain in the region of the kidneys on palpation.
  • An increase in pressure (if it did not bother you before).

The pain syndrome is complemented by nausea, fever, vomiting and fever. In the presence of such symptoms, a pregnant woman should be examined.

The same situations with the kidneys occur during menstruation. The general weakening of the body against the background of changes in the hormonal background during menstruation exacerbates existing renal ailments and provokes the development of diseases.

Injuries

The kidneys are sufficiently protected from external factors due to their anatomical location. But even these important organs for the body can be damaged from injury to the abdomen, retroperitoneal space and lower back. In 70-80% of cases, kidney injury is caused by:

  • Deliberate blows to the lumbar region.
  • Prolonged compression of the renal organs.
  • Trauma to the lumbar region as a result of an accident.
  • Falls on hard, hard objects and flat surfaces.

The kidney is a sensitive and delicate organ. She reacts to injury rapidly, responding with sharp cutting pain. There is significant swelling, swelling in the lumbar region and hematuria (the appearance of blood during urination).

Pain syndrome in case of kidney injury covers the entire lumbar zone, affecting muscles, ligaments and bones. Nausea, vomiting and fever may begin.

Kidney pain after beer

A well-known fact - when drinking beer, you run to the toilet more often. Beer acts as a diuretic and has a beneficial effect on the kidneys, cleansing them? This misconception is inherent in many beer lovers who, after drinking another portion of an intoxicating drink, feel disease syndromes in the kidneys.

Increased urination is not normal for the body. Together with urine, the necessary vitamins, trace elements (potassium, magnesium) are excreted from the body. The consequence of this is a gross violation of the acid-base balance.

The poor kidneys of a hop lover have to work in a triple mode, because their task is to cleanse the body, drive more fluid. With the departure of potassium from the body, problems are observed in the work of the cardiovascular system, the calf muscles hurt and swell, the legs weaken. After alcohol, the kidneys respond with excruciating, pulling pain that radiates to the lumbar region.

Magnesium affects the psycho-emotional background of a person. Its absence in the body affects the state of the psyche. A beer lover turns into a restless, irritable person, sleep is disturbed due to constant aching pains in the kidney area. A detrimental effect on the state of the body and a lack of vitamins. Immunity weakens, constant colds come.

When the kidneys hurt, it becomes increasingly difficult for them to remove toxins from the body. The destruction of organs increases, soon the dead kidney cells are replaced by connective tissue. The kidneys are reduced in size, wrinkled.

A lover of an intoxicating drink risks earning atherosclerosis of the renal vessels. Those who regularly drink beer for a long time are 10 times more likely to have kidney infarction, kidney hemorrhage and death, and organ failure.

Intoxication

Many of us know firsthand what poisoning is. The use of food of poor quality (a product that provokes poisoning of the body can be absolutely anything). The danger is that people affected by the attack of microbes, at first, do not even suspect about it.

Drugs are also the cause of intoxication. Although any person is well aware of the dangers of self-treatment, but frivolity takes over, causing great harm to health.

The very first to face the destructive effects of toxins, the kidneys are the body's main filter. The main task of these organs is to purify the blood and remove poisons and toxins with the help of urine. Against the background of serious poisoning of the body, renal failure develops, accompanied by:

  • A significant reduction in the excretion of urinary fluid.
  • Rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure.
  • Dryness of mucous membranes, pallor of the skin.
  • The appearance of severe swelling.
  • Pain in the kidneys.

Renal pain impulses in case of poisoning are bursting in nature. A dull pain covers the lumbar region and the lower part of the sternum, passing to the sides. Soreness is characterized by a long, painful period. With severe intoxication, nausea is observed, leading to profuse vomiting and loss of consciousness.

The most dangerous toxic kidney damage appears after taking low-quality surrogate alcohol. Such poisoning leads to kidney failure, complete cessation of urine outflow, sepsis of the body and death.

Cooling as a cause of kidney pain

“I have a cold in my kidneys, they hurt, what should I do?” – such a question is very often heard at the reception by urologists. It should be understood that in fact it is difficult to chill the renal organs - they are located deep in the body, and their temperature does not drop below +37.5⁰ C. The following factors lead to painful discomfort of the kidneys after exposure to cold:

Hypothermia of the whole organism and causes excruciating painful spasms of the kidneys. This organ, under the influence of cold, impairs blood circulation, slows down metabolic processes. Such disruption of work provokes the accumulation of toxic substances.

Remains of mineral substances crystallize, forming small salt accumulations, provoking the development of urolithiasis. "Cooled" kidneys signal their distress by feeling a strong chill, piercing pain in the lumbar region.

The pain impulse covers the pelvic region, bloody streaks are visible in the urine. The patient feels weakness of the legs, he is not able to stand for a long time, he hardly unbends his limbs. Urination turns into a painful process, accompanied by a burning sensation. There is drowsiness and lethargy, there is an upset bowel.

How to treat kidney pain

Kidney pain is an unpleasant and dangerous phenomenon. It is difficult for a person suffering from kidney pain to get rid of the painful syndrome. Kidney pain does not allow the body to find rest, it pulls the back with uniform torment, not weakening for a long time. If the pain impulse is accompanied by an increase in temperature to + 37⁰ C, this is a formidable sign of infectious diseases and a clear reason to go to the doctor.

Call the emergency!

Attention! If you have the following symptoms, call an ambulance immediately! Such situations are life-threatening:

  • A sharp increase in temperature to + 38-39⁰ C.
  • Urination passes with piercing burning.
  • Feverish state, accompanied by nausea, vomiting.
  • The separated urinary fluid is turbid, with an admixture of sand and blood.
  • Frequent desire to go to the toilet, but very little urine is produced.
  • Kidney pain from pulling turns into piercing, intensifying in the lumbar region.

Only a qualified doctor will be able to correctly diagnose the pathology and develop an individual treatment plan. Kidneys are no joke! They need to be protected. And the key to successful getting rid of the problem is a properly selected diet.

Diet for kidney disease

The diet for patients is compiled individually, taking into account the nature and degree of pathology. But there are a number of common rules for kidney ailments. They help to correctly compose the menu and help the main therapy to cope with the disease faster.

Nutrition for renal ailments is based on the introduction of a number of strict restrictions. The diet is based on carbohydrate-containing foods. Spicy, smoked and fried are strictly prohibited.

Protein products. A good result shows a refusal to eat protein foods. A protein-free diet for kidney disease becomes a priority. It excludes the following products:

  • Meat.
  • Sea fish.
  • Spices, seasonings.
  • Legumes (any kind)
  • Pepper (hot, fragrant).
  • Canned or salted vegetables.

Cooking takes place without the use of onions, garlic. They are prohibited in the diet of renal patients. Spinach, sorrel, radish, parsley and asparagus are taboo. Such plants worsen the water-salt balance and negatively affect the treatment of the kidneys.

But how to do without proteins? They are necessary and important for the healthy functioning of the body. Doctors do not recommend completely abandoning protein foods for kidney ailments and occasionally eating them without harm to health.

It is allowed to pamper yourself with baked or boiled poultry meat, completely excluding meat broths.

Dairy. Milk with kidney ailments is allowed to use, but subject to low-fat product.

Salt. Minimize salt intake (this substance destabilizes fluid output, which should not be allowed with kidney problems). For replacement, it is allowed to use small amounts of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice (these products have anti-inflammatory properties).

But if there are problems with the gastrointestinal tract along with kidney problems, vinegar with lemon juice is excluded from the diet.

Liquid. An important item in the diet of a renal patient is proper fluid intake. In the treatment of kidney ailments, an excess of fluid is very dangerous for the body. In such cases, it is allowed to consume up to 1.5 liters of liquid per day (which includes not only water, but also drinks, broths, soups, liquid dishes). If such an attitude is violated, the load on the kidneys increases, which leads to a deterioration in their condition.

Prohibited Products. Attention! The following list includes products that are completely prohibited in the presence of kidney problems:

  • Cocoa.
  • Chocolate.
  • Alcohol.
  • Natural coffe.

How to live now coffee lovers! But don't get upset. As an alternative to aromatic coffee, choose chicory drinks. But, before filling them with shelves, consult your doctor - chicory has a powerful diuretic effect.

Permitted Products. For first courses, cook vegetarian soups, vegetable broths, lean cabbage soup, low-fat borscht. Chicken eggs are allowed to be eaten (up to 2 per day). Butter is allowed, but provided it is not salty. When cooking, give preference to olive oil. Include in the menu jams, jams, kissels, compotes and the following products:

  • Any bread.
  • Dried fruits.
  • Cereals, pasta.

In the treatment of kidney problems, it is necessary not only to correctly compose a diet for yourself. A significant role is played by the mode of eating - it must become fractional. Fractional nutrition - five, six times the use of food with small portions.

People's Pharmacy

It is possible to treat renal ailments with the use of folk remedies. Treatment at home requires a mandatory prior consultation with a doctor! For renal treatment, medicinal collections of herbs are used, which have pronounced antispasmodic and diuretic properties:

  • Knotweed.
  • Parsley.
  • Bearberry.
  • Field horsetail.
  • Cornflower flowers.
  • Juniper fruits.
  • Birch leaves and buds.

Herbal tinctures are taken in a course of 1.5-2 months. It is enough to carry out 2-3 restorative courses per year. Suitable herbs are selected individually, you can also make collections of medicinal herbs. Get acquainted with recipes that are effective in the treatment of kidney ailments. When infusing herbal teas, use a thermos.

When removing inflammation and removing sand and small pebbles:

  • Grind in the same amount of horsetail, lingonberry leaves and bear ears. Collection (2 tsp) steamed with boiling water (300 ml). Infuse the decoction for 1.5 hours, strain and add the mummy (0.3 g). The mixture is divided into three parts and consumed half an hour before meals three times a day.
  • Mix linden flowers, elderberry and chamomile (one teaspoon each). Brew the herbal mixture with boiling water (200 ml). Heat in a water bath for half an hour, cool and strain. Then dilute the resulting mass with clean water to a volume of 300 ml. Pete a glass of decoction a day before going to bed.

Folk ways to treat chronic ailments (they help especially well during exacerbations):

  • Mix the same amount of motherwort, tricolor violet, St. John's wort, horsetail. Steam the herbal mixture (3 tablespoons) with boiling water (700 ml). Insist 2-2.5 hours in a thermos. Filter the broth and take every day three times a glass half an hour before meals.
  • Finely chop the marjoram. Grass (4 tablespoons) steam with a glass of boiling water and leave to infuse in a thermos for 1.5-2 hours. Strain and take warm four times a day, 50 ml.
  • Grind fresh birch twigs together with buds. Mass (2 tablespoons) pour boiling water (0.5 l). Infuse for 2-3 hours and filter. Take the mixture instead of tea twice daily on an empty stomach.

In addition to herbs, it is very useful for diseases and as a preventive measure to use berry fruit drinks (up to 1.5-2 liters daily). Make fruit drinks from cranberries, sea buckthorn, currants and strawberries. Decoctions of viburnum and apple peel will be of great benefit.

Appreciate your health! Listen to the slightest signals that the body gives, follow all the doctor's instructions! And be sure to coordinate with him the reception of folk remedies and independent measures. So you protect yourself from unpleasant consequences and prolong the health of the kidneys.
