Speed limit sign area. Speed limit sign. Maximum speed limit (SDA)

The areas of validity of signs in the SDA for 2019 are regulated either by the SDA Annex of the same name - road signs and markings, or by GOST R 52289-2004. In our case, the effect of a speed limit sign can be determined by the presence of an intersection, a plate of the length of the limit, as well as signs that remove such a limit, or the beginning or end of a settlement. But let's talk about everything in order!

What is the scope of the speed limit sign?

Sign 3.24 "Speed limit"

The "Speed Limit" sign is installed on dangerous sections of roads near sharp turns or concentrations of traffic accidents, where it is dangerous to drive at the initially allowed speed. In addition, sometimes a sign is installed where it is allowed to drive with more than required by the conditions of the city, highway or highway. For example, if there is a speed limit sign in the city of 80 km / h, then you can drive exactly up to 80 kilometers per hour, and not up to 60, as required by traffic rules in the city.

Also, according to GOST for 2019? You can not limit the speed of such signs by more than 20 km / h. That is, if you are driving along a highway where it is allowed to drive 90 km / h, and along the way you meet a “Speed limit” sign with the number 60, then such a sign was installed illegally - if you want to limit the speed to 60 kilometers per hour, then you must first stand speed limit sign up to 70 or 80, and only then, after 100-150 meters, sign 60 (paragraph 5.4.22 of GOST).

Also, like any other prohibition signs, the speed limit sign is not infinite, even if there is no corresponding sign of the end of the limit. The priority of the conditions of the sign here is similar to the sign "No stopping", and let's look at all the conditions for restricting areas of action.

The effect of the sign "Maximum speed limit" with a plate of the area of \u200b\u200baction

Everything is simple here: immediately under the sign 3.24, a sign 8.2.1 is hung on the same column (see the figure below), the number on which indicates the coverage area from the sign to the lifting of the restriction. If, for example, the sign indicates 40, and the plate indicates 150 m, then this means that we must drive the next 150 meters at a speed of no more than 40 kilometers per hour.

By the way, it is 40, not 60 and not 59 km / h - there is a violation, but there is a punishment for this violation. It is forbidden to drive at a speed above 40 - this is a violation, just no punishment is provided if the excess is less than 20 km / h. But in case of an accident, for example, such an excess can be taken into account not in your favor.

Action of speed limit until signs of the end of the restricted area

If the sign is applied without a plate with a speed limit zone, then after such a sign there may be a sign "End of the speed limit zone" with a crossed-out speed value already on a white background (and not on white with a red frame, like a prohibition sign). Then the prohibition of the speed limit sign after the end of the limit no longer applies, and we can drive at the maximum speed allowed for this section of the road (city or other settlement - 60 km / h, highway - 90 km / h, motorway - 110 km / h) . The same prohibition of maximum speed is removed by the sign "End of all restrictions" - an empty sign with diagonal strikethroughs on a white background.

In addition, signs of the end of the zone of validity of prohibition signs of traffic rules can stand, including if the prohibition sign itself stood with a sign of the zone of action. And this is logical, isn’t it, because we don’t have to measure the distance indicated on the plate with a tape measure ?!

The effect of the sign "Speed Limit" to a new one of the same sign

If sign 3.24 is followed by a new sign with a different restriction value, then the previous restriction does not apply, which is quite logical. The situation looks less logical when a new limit sign sets a larger value of such a limit. For example, there was a sign "60" and after it there was a sign "80". Then the new constraint also applies, and the previous one is lifted.

The effect of the sign "Speed limit" to the intersection or settlement

If there are no signs under the speed limit sign and if there are no signs for the end of the speed ban or the removal of all prohibition signs, then the speed limit prescribed by sign 3.24 is valid either to the nearest intersection, or to the sign "Settlement" or "End of settlement". Whatever you see along the way will cancel the effect of this prohibition sign. Moreover, a roundabout is also a full-fledged intersection.

At the same time, remember that not all intersections mean the end of the zone of validity of the "Speed Limit" sign. Various secondary exits or junctions of dirt roads to forest areas, exits to fields and other secondary roads not marked with a road junction warning sign (warning signs are installed 50-100 meters in settlements and 150-300 meters - on highways), then is one of these characters:

Remember also that exits from adjacent territories are not crossroads according to the interpretation of traffic rules and therefore do not cancel the operation of the "Speed limit" sign.

As for the end or, respectively, the beginning of the settlement, this is not just a visible beginning or end, respectively, but their designation with one of the following information signs:

Also keep in mind that the "Residential Zone" sign overrides the restriction. In general, a residential area rarely just starts from the road, but most likely you move off the road to another, and the new one has its own rules. But even if you find yourself in a rare exception, when the road with a restriction has moved into a residential area, then remember that the traffic rules of 2019 prescribe a maximum speed in a residential area of 20 kilometers per hour.

What is the area of validity of the temporary sign "Speed Limit"?

Temporary speed limit signs are usually placed during road repairs or construction of structures near this road and in other cases of temporary concentration of a dense flow of cars on a road section. The temporary prohibition sign, unlike the permanent one, is made on a yellow background instead of white.

Temporary sign 3.24 "Speed limit"

The end of the area of effect of a temporary sign "Speed limit" according to the Rules of the Road is no different from similar areas of effect of a permanent restriction - it can be canceled by the nearest intersection, the end / beginning of a settlement, the sign of the end of the speed limit or all restrictions, or by the propagation distance, if set with corresponding plate.

In practice, for 2019, temporary signs are most often canceled with the “End of all restrictions” sign, because a significant reduction in speed is also required with temporary signs, which means that several such signs have been installed that gradually limit the speed lower and lower.

Also keep in mind that automatic photo and video recording of speeding is not allowed in areas where temporary signs are installed. Simply put, speed violators cannot be caught on auto-fixation cameras if such speed is limited by a temporary sign. But the inspector with a camera in his hand, which simply records the speed of the car for subsequent proof of the excess, maybe if there was such a punishable excess.

What does not cancel the zone of action of the sign "Speed Limit"?

So, above we examined which road signs and intersections cancel the distribution of sign 3.24. Now, so that you are definitely not mistaken, we present that not cancels the speed limit:

  • tunnels, bridges, overpasses;
  • if the road turns without the formation of intersections (even if it turns in the opposite direction);
  • the sign "Main road", if it is not installed in front of the intersection (according to GOST, this sign can be installed simply on a section of the road, prohibiting stopping according to traffic rules);
  • traffic lights, if they are not installed at the intersection, but, for example, for pedestrians.

If the area of the speed limit sign on the plate is greater than the distance to the intersection

If suddenly it turned out that on the plate under the sign "Speed limit" flaunts "2 km", but after one kilometer you find an intersection or the end / beginning of the settlement, then know that the latter cancel the prohibition sign to move at a speed higher than indicated on the sign. That is, the intersection or the beginning / end of the settlement in this case have priority over the sign. This is all because in this case such an organization of the operation of signs contradicts GOST and means that the road builders incorrectly placed the sign. And GOST clearly states that the distance of action on the plate cannot be more than the distance to the intersection or the nearest settlement or its end.

What are the penalties for violating the "Maximum Speed Limit" sign?

There is no difference from whether you exceeded the speed indicated on the sign or simply set on a given section of the road (for example, in a city of 60 km / h), there is no. Penalties for exceeding rely on the very fact of exceeding. In the table below you can see all the possible penalties for violating the speed limit ban for 2019.

Various penalties depending on the magnitude of the excess and the repetition of the violation.

FINE WHAT IS SPEEDING?
rubles, if he was caught by a traffic police inspector, or only get a fine of 5,000 rubles if the excess was recorded by an auto-fixation camera.

Is there a discount for speeding tickets?

50% discount applies to fines for minor speeding. And it does not apply if you have exceeded again or by more than 60 km / h (if in the decision on the imposition of a fine you have indicated part 6 or 7 of Article 12.9 as imputed to you). Take a closer look, the resolution always indicates the sane article and its part.

If the discount is in effect, then the half-price penalty can be paid within 20 days after the date of the decision (not to be confused with the date the order was served or received by mail).

There are always different signs on the roads. Among them, the most common is "Speed Limit". Although it seems elementary to most motorists, when they see it on the road, some "dummies" - drivers with little experience, have questions. What do you need to know about the speed limit sign?

This sign looks like this: a value is indicated on a white circle, and its outline is outlined in red. The number indicated on the sign indicates the maximum permissible speed that can be developed in this place. This value cannot be exceeded.

When studying at a driving school, special attention is paid to this road sign. Sometimes even a couple of classes are assigned to it. But even so, some students manage to forget everything. It is for them that the information below is indicated.

The SDA states that the "Speed Limit" is used to prohibit the movement of all vehicles of the above value. Its goal is to improve traffic safety. Therefore, you can see it both in the city and beyond.

If at one point on the road the speed limit differs from another by 20 or more km/h, then a stepped sign is mounted at that point. That is - in the amount of several pieces, on each of which the value becomes smaller. However, this is not necessary provided that its visibility is more than 150 m.

Although this road sign establishes a certain speed limit, it still does not require movement with just such an indicator on the speedometer. An analogy with the passage of a traffic light on a yellow signal is appropriate here. It is allowed to drive the car at the speed of the above value, but it must not be exceeded by more than 19 km/h.

Previously, this value was less. If it is more than 20 km / h or more, then this is already considered a violation. When passing cameras, you should not accelerate exactly to the maximum permissible rate, since some speedometers have an error of 2-3 km / h. The driver will think that he does not violate the speed limit, but in fact there will be an excess, albeit by a small value. There is already a fine for it.

When you see a sign with a restriction, you must slow down to the permitted speed. And you need to do this in advance, without resorting to emergency braking. A legitimate question arises - from what moment does it act and where does it end?

It begins to act directly from the place of its installation. With this, usually, there are no problems. Motorists see it in advance and have time to slow down.

"Speed limit" has a limitation of action:

  1. Crossroads. From the sign to the intersection, you must observe the speed limit, the value of which is indicated. Then you can speed up. In the city, the speed limit is up to 60 km/h. Without violations, it is allowed to accelerate up to 79 km / h. Anything above is already considered a violation and is punishable by a fine.
  2. The beginning or end of a settlement. If after the sign after a few meters there is a sign “Beginning of the settlement” with the name of the city or village on a white background, then this is where the restriction ends.

In the city or village itself, you cannot accelerate more than 60 km / h, and sometimes you need to go even slower if there is another restriction. It is valid until the sign "End of settlement" on a white background, provided that there are no intersections. After that, you can again accelerate to 90 km / h, but not in the village, but outside it.

Sometimes the sign is placed together with the sign "Extension of the coverage area." Then he will act at a distance indicated in the plate. It does not matter if there is an intersection at this distance or not. Its presence does not matter. This issue is discussed in more detail below.

The sign can also be in areas where there are no intersections and settlements. How to keep the speed limit in such conditions? So "newbies" are most often confused.

The length of the distance where the sign is valid is indicated by a special plate. If there is a restriction, but there is no plate, then it will continue to operate until the sign "End of the speed limit zone". It looks the same as the sign discussed in this article, but with a strikethrough line.

Sometimes the indicated designation becomes invalid - after the "End of all restrictions". It is easy to recognize it - the white background is crossed out by a diagonal line. Although it implies the abolition of all signs, it is not so.

It only cancels:

  • length of the minimum distance;
  • overtaking ban;
  • giving a sound signal;
  • as well as parking and stopping at various places;
  • and speed limit.

It can be located along with a sign indicating the distance. This indicates that the action of the tablet in this place is terminated.

The most common speed limit situations are:

  1. The action "Speed limit" when it is repeated in one section. Sometimes there are several road signs that limit the speed of cars. Usually the values are listed in descending order. Such signs are often found at repair sites so that drivers have time to prepare for the approach of a dangerous object, and sometimes even stop completely.
  2. Action before an intersection or settlement. If there are no information signs with the sign, then its validity will last until the nearest intersection, and also until the beginning or end of the settlement. The restriction loses its effect even after passing the road with, since this is also an intersection. But, here, exits from the highway into the yards or into the field are not intersections. They do not remove the effect of this road element. In yards and residential areas, you can accelerate no more than 20 km / h. Not all signs with the name of a city or village cancel the restriction. "Beginning of settlement" or "End of settlement" must be on a white background. The blue background only informs drivers that they have entered the settlement, but does not oblige them to drive more slowly. In other words, it means that the highway passes through this city or village.
  3. The effect of the sign "Speed Limit" on a yellow background. It is temporary and is usually installed at or before repair sites and is accompanied by a corresponding plate. Its essence is the same as that of the usual restriction. Usually, however, the yellow “Speed Limit” sign must be observed until “”, after which you can accelerate again. As a rule, “Speed Limits” are set so that drivers drive slowly in certain areas. Therefore, to avoid emergency situations, several such signs, similar to step ones, are installed at once.

There should be no cameras at the locations of the temporary “Speed Limit” sign on a yellow background, as it is not here for a permanent period. If they are available and recorded a violation, then it can be appealed. However, an inspector in such a place can stand and shoot violations on the camera of a patrol car, and then write out protocols for them. It is not possible to appeal against his actions in such a situation.

Situations where the effect of the sign is not canceled

There are circumstances under which the "Speed Limit" remains in effect and does not cancel its effect under the influence of other signs:

  • pedestrian crossings - in addition to violating the speed limit, they cannot be overtaken;
  • tunnels, bridges and overpasses - artificial lighting in them is worse than daylight on open roads, so you can’t accelerate or slow down here without special need;
  • smooth or sharp turn without exits - if there are no other ways to turn, then it is not considered an intersection and the speed limit will be in effect after it has been passed;
  • "Main road" - the restriction remains only when there is no intersection on the way;
  • traffic light - it does not cancel the sign only if it is located on a straight stretch of road.

These situations should be remembered and never confused in order to make your travel by car safer. This will help you avoid sometimes ridiculous fines.

Penalty for non-observance of the sign "Speed Limit"

There is a fine for speeding. Constantly, after a certain period of time, it is increased to improve the safety of motorists. According to statistics, this has a positive effect on safety, because not every car owner is ready to pay a huge fine.

Now, some motorists, when they see a speed limiting sign, reduce it, since such a violation is recorded by cameras, and it is more difficult to deceive them than an inspector. In addition, sometimes portable cameras are not visible on the track, so they can be installed anywhere. Of course, you can install a radar detector in the car itself, but it is also powerless with some cameras, as they are often “reflashed” and updated.

So, the fines for non-observance of the "Speed Limit" sign are as follows:

  1. For exceeding the speed limit by 20 km / h, but not more than 40 km / h, a fine of -500 rubles is provided. If you pay it within 20 days after the violation, a 50% discount works.
  2. If the speed is exceeded by 40-60 km/h, then the amount of the fine will be from 1000 to 1500 rubles. If paid on time, a discount will also be given. If such a violation repeats, then a fine of 2000-2500 rubles is provided, without deprivation of a driver's license.
  3. When exceeding 60-80 km / h, the fine increases to 2000-2500 rubles. In some cases, perhaps, deprivation of rights by a court decision. In case of repeated violation, recorded by the camera, the driver will be fined for 5 thousand rubles. If the traffic police inspector stops the car owner with such a violation, then you will have to say goodbye to the rights for 1 year.

For some motorists, even such fines seem small, and they continue to violate the speed limit. This is done, most often because in order to be in time somewhere, to arrive earlier than others, because at present life in cities is very fast and almost all of its inhabitants are always in a hurry. However, traveling by car is the case when there is absolutely no need to rush. The few minutes saved are definitely not worth it.

According to traffic police statistics, very often accidents happen precisely because of non-compliance with the speed limit. Drivers are confident that they know how to control the car when driving fast, so they very grossly violate this rule. However, do not forget that with this style of driving at any time, everything can get out of control. In addition, at high speed, the risk of serious injury increases significantly, and even a seat belt may not save. Sometimes such accidents end in the death of the driver and passengers.

What to do if the zone of action of the sign "Speed Limit" ends further than the intersection

It happens that the "Speed Limit" is located with a sign "Area", but the distance indicated in it is greater than the distance to the end of the intersection.

In fact, everything is simple. Under these circumstances, the speed limit lasts until the vehicle has traveled the distance indicated on the plate. In this case, the intersection must be passed with the same speed limit, not exceeding it by more than 19 km / h.

In 80% of cases, serious accidents occur when driving at high speeds. To prevent emergencies, special road signs have been created that dictate to slow down. It is important to understand that the area of effect of the Speed Limit sign always ends.

Road elements canceling the rule

The speed limit may not apply to the entire road. There are rules according to which the driver can return to the previous driving pattern.

Below is a look at which signs cancel the speed limit:

  1. If, together with the road element, there is an additional numerical designation, this indicates the distance after which the rule loses its relevance. So, with a limit of 40 and the number on the plate 250, it says that the next 250 meters must be observed on the speed sensor number 40.
  2. In the absence of a plate with an additional designation, another road sign may be encountered along the way, which symbolizes the end of the previous restriction. After it, drivers are allowed to increase speed on the next leg of the journey. This element is denoted as follows: an underlined line on a white background with a red border.
  3. Another sign that cancels the rule is the “End of all restrictions” (crossing line on a white background). Such a designation cancels even the distance that is assigned in the plate.

The action of the speed limiter in different situations

The speed limit is valid until a certain point.

Below are the situations when the zone of the road to which the rule applies ends:

  • Until the next sign. Sometimes, at a certain distance from the speed limiter, a sign with a different limit is installed. In this case, the first of them ceases to operate. In other situations, the new designation allows you to drive at a higher speed than the previous one. And even in this case, the first restriction is removed.
  • To the first intersection or settlement. If there are no signs under the sign and other signs that lift the prohibition are encountered along the way, the speed limiter's area of effect extends to the nearest intersection or a sign symbolizing the beginning or end of the settlement.

Considering the situation with an intersection, it should be borne in mind that the rule is not canceled for a roundabout.

IMPORTANT! Not all intersections can affect the end of the speed limiter. These do not include ramps and junctions to dirt roads without additional designations. As well as trips from such territories.

If we take into account the beginning or end of the settlement, the features of movement are as follows:

  • The maximum allowed speed in the residential area is 20 kilometers per hour.
  • Moving to a residential area rarely starts from the road. And it happens that you find yourself on a different road, where new rules apply.

Time limit

This designation is placed on repaired sections of roads. A similar sign outwardly differs from others in this category in that it is located on a yellow background and acts in the same way as a standard one.

The end of the action of a road section with a similar designation is also no different. Often the rules of this category of road elements are canceled with the designation “The end of all prohibitions”.

On the way where the time limit is met, the driver is required to reduce the speed as much as possible. Therefore, on the road, you can first encounter a number of limiters along the way, which allow the driver to gradually slow down.

The area of validity of a temporary sign may also, as in other cases, end with an intersection, the beginning or end of a settlement, and a designation of the end of restrictions. Also, this element of road regulation may contain a plate under it.

IMPORTANT! When it comes to a temporary sign, it is almost impossible to set up a fixation for it from a video camera. On these sections of roads, only a traffic police officer can catch you for violating the rules.

In what cases the effect of the sign is not canceled:

  • Pedestrian markings available.
  • Road turn without crossing with other roads.
  • The presence of complex road routes (tunnel, bridge, etc.).
  • There is a “Main Road” sign in front of the intersection.
  • A traffic light has been installed on the site to allow pedestrians to pass.

Penalties for disregarding a speed limit sign

The amount of the fine for high-speed driving in unauthorized places is set depending on the number of mileage units exceeding the speed limit, as well as the repeated nature of violations. So, the fine for such a disregard for the rules can be quite high.

In general, when exceeding the speed limit:

  • over 40 kilometers per hour - the driver faces an administrative penalty of 500 rubles;
  • up to 60 kilometers per hour - you will have to pay 1-1.5 thousand rubles;
  • up to 80 kilometers per hour will cost 2-2.5 thousand rubles, and in some cases with deprivation of rights up to six months.

For repeated violations of the restriction:

  • 40-60 kilometers per hour - up to 2.5 thousand rubles are charged;
  • up to 80 kilometers per hour - a fine of 5 thousand rubles is imposed (if the offense is recorded by a camera) and deprivation of a driver's license for 12 months (if the offender is caught by a traffic police officer).

Accidents that occur when the speed limiter is neglected often end in death for many. Therefore, it is vital for every driver to follow the speed limit signs.

On the video about fines

Remember that when you get behind the wheel, you become responsible for yourself, your passengers and other road users. Try to follow the signs, do not exceed the speed limit and then your path will be the safest.

Many motorists think that almost any speed limit - be it a sign or a limit set in traffic rules - means that you can drive at the actual speed plus 20 km / h from the allowed one. Well, this is almost always the case, but there are a small number of subtleties and other risks that we want to talk about in this article.

How much can you drive under the signs 40, 60, 70 km/h and others?

The first thing to mention is that if there is a speed limit sign, then you can drive no more than indicated on it. The point here is not the traffic rules, but other pitfalls. Yes, very often it is not punishable to drive in excess of no more than 20 km / h, but this is not always the case.

So, the Code of Administrative Offenses gives us the main answer. It is in its part 1 of article 12.9, which is responsible for fines and deprivation of rights for speeding, that it is established that exceeding by 20 km / h is not punished by any fine at all.

To be more precise, the 1st part has generally lost force since the distant 2013 by the relevant Federal Law No. 196-FZ. And earlier it was possible to exceed the established speed limit by no more than 10 km / h with impunity. Exceeding 10-20 km / h was then punishable by a fine of only 100 rubles. Few people probably remember that there were such fines at all, because today the minimum is 500 rubles.

But if you drive more than 20 km / h faster than the permitted speed, then you will be fined from 500 rubles, or you may be deprived of your rights for up to 1 year.

You should also take into account the error of the measuring device - but this only applies to automatic fixation cameras. The cameras in the hands of the inspectors on the road practically do not take into account the error, although, of course, there is one.

For automatic fixation cameras, such an error is usually about 1-2 km / h.

Thus, the following factors influence the selected speed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe speed limit sign:

  • you can drive in excess of 20 km / h without a fine under the Code of Administrative Offenses,
  • you can drive with a slight excess of 1-2 km / h due to the considered error of photo fixation cameras.

But not everything is so simple!

The fact is that the speed error occurs not only in cameras for photographing violations, but also in the speedometer of your car. Most often, the speed value can be underestimated or overestimated due to a different wheel radius than the one with which the speedometer is calibrated. So, if you put wheels larger than those with which you bought the car, then the actual speed will be higher than the speedometer shows, and then the above values \u200b\u200bare not suitable for your speedometer, and you can drive at a lower speed. Be careful!

In addition, and this is already good news, in most cars, the speedometers initially show about 1-3 km / h higher speed than the real one. Therefore, if you slightly exceeded the limit indicated on the plus sign of 20-21 km / h, then most likely you will not receive a fine for exceeding.

Features of Avtodoria

Meanwhile, the same error should be excluded if we are talking about Avtodoriya - types of cameras that work in pairs on the same section of the road, are located at a short distance from each other and measure the average speed.

In this case, the unpunished speeding under the Code of Administrative Offenses by no more than 20 km / h still works, but the error is practically eliminated.

Why can't you exceed the speed limit, except for a fine?

Everything is very simple! To do this, you just need to understand that violation and punishment are not the same thing. If, for example, 60 km / h, you drove 79, then there will be no fine for this, but this does not cancel traffic violations - specifically paragraph 10.1. And such a violation increases a number of other risks.

The first and most common risk is an accident. Speeding affects the degree of guilt, regardless of the fine, of course. But it's not that simple - if you were driving 50 where you can only go 40, this, of course, does not automatically make you the culprit. But in situations where not everything is so clear - in case of mutual guilt, the judge considering the case, when determining guilt, may attribute the speeding in the direction of increasing the degree of your guilt.

Also, if you were driving with an unpunished excess, but still violated, this will definitely be an aggravating factor in choosing a punishment when a fork is possible, for example:

  • a fine or deprivation of rights under certain articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses,
  • an increase in the period of deprivation where such a period is represented by a range at the choice of the body considering the case,
  • deterioration of the position of the perpetrator in a criminal case (for example, if the driver knocked down a pedestrian to death or with serious consequences at the crossing).

What will be the fine if you go faster?

500 rubles. This is if you still did not meet the speed that is not punishable by a fine and exceeded at least 1 km / h from the "forgiven" +20 km / h plus camera errors.

If you did not notice the speed limit at all and were driving significantly faster than the speed limit, then the following penalties await you. Let's take the limit of 40 kilometers per hour as an example:

  • if you drove 61-80 km / h (exceeded by 20-40 km / h) - a fine of 500 rubles,
  • if you drove 81-100 km / h (exceeded by 40-60 km / h) - a fine of -1500 rubles,
  • if you drove 101-120 km / h (exceeded by 60-80 km / h) - a fine of 2000 rubles or deprivation for 4-6 months (there can be no deprivation on camera, only a fine),
  • if you drove faster than 121 km/h (exceeded by more than 80 km/h) - a fine of rubles or deprivation for six months,
  • if you were driving 81-100 km/h (exceeded by 40-60 km/h) and earlier for about a year you have already been brought for the same violation - a fine of -2500 rubles,
  • if you were driving faster than 101 km/h (exceeded by more than 60 km/h) and had already been charged for the same violation for about a year - a fine of 5,000 rubles if the excess was recorded on camera, or deprivation for a year if you were caught by an inspector traffic police on the road.

How do I know if I've been fined?

If you have just passed with a slight excess under the sign 40, 60, 70 or any other, then you cannot immediately find out whether the camera issued a fine or not.

As a rule (depending on the region and type of camera), a fine in the period from 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks (in the case of Avtodoriya, as a rule, the fine comes the latest) begins to be displayed on the official website of the traffic police and on the State Services. Later (here already) a copy of the decision will come with a photo of the excess.

The speed limit sign is valid until the nearest intersection, unless there are other signs regulating the speed. At the same time, after the cancellation of the speed limit sign, we do not forget about the value of the maximum speeds in the city, village and on the highway.

The maximum speed limit sign is sign 3.24.

Quote from the traffic rules of the Russian Federation, Appendix 1:

Thus, the effect of sign 3.24 extends from the place where the sign was installed, forward in the direction of travel, to one of these places:

1) if there is an intersection - to the nearest intersection. True, if there is an intersection without priority signs with a field, forest or secondary road, then in such places the effect of the sign 3.24 does not stop. But note that the road must be either field, or forest, or secondary.

2) in a populated area in the absence of an intersection - up to road sign 5.24.1 or 5.24.2;

3) outside the settlement in the absence of an intersection - to the road sign 5.23.1 or 5.23.2.

And finally, if there is sign 3.25 “End of the maximum speed limit zone” on the road, or sign 3.31 “End of the zone of all restrictions”, or sign 3.24 with a different value of the maximum allowed speed - sign 3.24 will be valid until one of these three signs.

The maximum speed limit prohibition sign may be valid until the next speed limit cancellation road sign, or until the next prohibition sign with a different numerical speed indication, for example, it was 70, then 50 or 40. In the absence of all cancellation signs, the speed limit prohibition sign is valid until designated intersection, and in the settlement without marked intersections - to the end of the village.

The mandatory minimum speed limit sign (on a blue background) is also valid until the next cancellation sign "End of minimum speed limit zone". There is also a general sign “End of the zone of all restrictions”, it can also relate to the cancellation of the speed limit sign.

SDA: Prohibition road sign 3.24 Maximum speed limit in the Rules of the road

SDA P1 3.24, 3.25

Prohibition road sign 3.24 The maximum speed limit imposes a prohibition on driving at a speed in km/h exceeding that indicated on the sign.

Scope of the prohibition road sign 3.24 The maximum speed limit extends from the place where the sign is installed to the nearest intersection behind it, and in built-up areas, if there is no intersection, it extends to the end of the built-up area. The action of the sign is not interrupted at the places of exit from the territories adjacent to the road and at the places of intersection or junction with field, forest and other secondary roads, in front of which the corresponding signs are not installed.

The effect of the prohibition road sign 3.24 The maximum speed limit set in front of the settlement, indicated by the road sign 5.23.1 or 5.23.2, extends to this sign.

Road signs 5.23.1 and 5.23.2 The beginning of the settlement from Appendix 1 to the SDA to which the speed limit sign is valid

For prohibition road sign 3.24 the zone of action of the sign can be reduced by installing at the end of the zone of its action a road sign 3.25 End of the maximum speed limit zone or by using plate 8.2.1.

The coverage area of road sign 3.24 can be reduced by placing a prohibition road sign 3.24 Maximum speed limit with a different maximum speed.

Speed limit sign - sign coverage area

One of the most common traffic violations, which is recorded daily on the roads of our country, is considered to be speeding. It is also often the main cause of road traffic accidents, often accompanied by serious material damage and loss of life. The visible consequences of such behavior of drivers who easily violate the speed limit are faced daily by all road users.

Despite the fact that the speed limit sign is installed not just like that, but only on potentially dangerous and difficult sections of roads, drivers are in no hurry to remove their foot from the gas pedal after crossing it. Moreover, many car owners have long forgotten that when driving in urban areas, the maximum speed is initially limited, and it is strictly forbidden to drive faster than 60 km / h. If road conditions require otherwise, then it can be further reduced by installing appropriate signs that indicate the specific permitted value for a particular section.

Features of installing a sign Speed limit

Like any other, the Maximum speed limit sign is not set on the road just like that. As a rule, he says that a difficult turn awaits the driver ahead, a significant narrowing of the roadway, difficult visibility in relation to oncoming traffic, etc. In addition, the Speed limit sign is often located near child care facilities - kindergartens, schools, and in this In this case, the speed dropped by the driver in time can save the life of a child who suddenly jumped onto the road in the wrong place.

Any difficulties on the part of the driver when interpreting this sign are simply unthinkable - the sign is extremely clear, and even people who do not have rights understand its meaning very well. On a white background, equipped with a red border, the value of the maximum permissible speed, which is allowed on this section of the road, is indicated. If the speed limit sign is located on a yellow background, this indicates its temporary purpose, but at the same time, if it contradicts the signs established on a permanent basis, it is necessary to be guided in further movement by the temporary indicator.

How long does it take to comply with the speed limit

After crossing the established sign with the designated restriction, a number of car owners find it difficult to determine the area where this restriction can no longer be observed. Finding a place where you can increase the current speed of the car is not so difficult.

  1. The most obvious sign that indicates the ability to press the gas pedal is the sign End of the zone of all restrictions. In cities, these are quite rare.
  2. In the conditions of the city, you can often see the sign 3.25, which removes a certain previously indicated restriction. Immediately after crossing it, the speed can be increased to the "urban" value.
  3. If a sign indicating the specific distance at which the restriction is in effect is located under the indicator limiting the maximum speed, immediately after passing this segment, it can be increased. The distance is easy to determine from the odometer readings - the main thing is to fix its readings at the moment of crossing the speed limit sign. But do not rush to accelerate, because it is better to drive an extra hundred meters a little slower than to get a fine for exceeding.
  4. The previous restriction is removed if there is another sign on the road with a different value of the permissible speed.
  5. The action of the indicator, which limits the maximum permissible speed, automatically ends if there is an intersection in the path of the car. After crossing it, the maximum speed limit sign is not mandatory, and if the speed limit after crossing the roads still has its own characteristics, another sign must be installed.
  6. The restriction is removed when leaving the city where such a sign was installed. However, this only works if there is a corresponding sign on the road, namely “End of settlement”. If it is absent, the restriction may extend its effect to several tens of kilometers, until the driver meets a sign with other requirements.

It is worth noting that at the entrance to a city or village, the zone of validity of the speed limit sign, which is located in front of it, does not lose its relevance, and the requirements for observing the speed limit remain valid.

Responsibility for exceeding

Since the speed limit road sign is never set just like that, but only in dangerous areas, or where the movement of vehicles at high speed can lead to human casualties, the punishment for ignoring its requirements is quite severe. This is due to the serious consequences of violating the speed limit, which can be encountered almost daily on our roads. Therefore, the punishment for such a violation is tangible - it is quite possible to receive not only an impressive fine, but also lose the right to drive a vehicle for a period of one year.

The final amount of the fine for this type of violation may vary, and depends on a number of points, for example:

  • the specific location of the road where the offense was committed, as well as its category;
  • type and characteristics of the vehicle violating the speed limit;
  • type of tasks performed by the vehicle - transportation of hazardous substances, people, towing.

It is worth noting that despite the fact that the maximum speed is prescribed in the traffic rules, for various types of roads it can be increased by the regions independently. In this case, appropriate signs are installed. About such a measure in one of the regions is described in the video:

Questions of traffic rules by sign Maximum speed limit

Which of the following signs apply only to the period of time when the road surface is wet?

Only a combination of signs "A" - 3.24 "Maximum speed limit" with a sign 8.16 "Wet surface", indicating that the sign applies to the period when the road surface is wet - is the correct answer. Sign "B" - 1.18 "Emission of gravel" - warns of a section of the road where gravel, crushed stone and the like can be ejected from under the wheels of vehicles. Sign "B" - 1.15 "Slippery road" - warns of a road section with increased slipperiness of the roadway. The reason for this may be snowfall, icing, spillage of bitumen during road works, etc. ("Road Signs").

This road sign:

  • Recommends driving at a speed of 40 km/h
  • Requires driving at a speed of at least 40 km/h
  • Prohibits driving at speeds over 40 km/h

Sign 3.24 "Maximum speed limit" is a common sign on our roads. ("Road signs"). It is forbidden to drive at a speed (km/h) exceeding that indicated on the sign. For exceeding the speed limit over +20 km / h, a punishment follows - a fine; over +60 km/h - a fine or deprivation of rights.
Action area:
1 - From the installation site to the nearest intersection, and in the settlement in the absence of an intersection - to the end of the n.p.
2- The coverage area may be limited by plate 8.2.1
"Zone of action".
3 - Up to the same sign with a different speed value.
4 - Before the sign 5.23.1 or 5.23.2 "Beginning of the settlement" with a white background.
5 - Up to sign 3.25 "End of speed limit zone".
6 - Up to sign 3.31 "End of the zone of all restrictions." ("Road signs").

The requirements of which signs come into force directly in the place where they are installed?

The action of the prohibition sign 3.24 "Maximum speed limit" extends from the installation site to the nearest intersection, and in the absence of an intersection - to the end of the settlement ("B"). The coverage area may be limited, for example, by the plate 8.2.1 “Action area” (“A”). The sign is valid 100m from its place of installation. Plate 8.1.1 under the sign ("B") "Distance to the object" indicates the distance from the sign to the place where it begins to operate. ("Road signs").

Which signs apply only to the nearest intersection in the direction of travel?

The effect of signs: B - 3.24 "Maximum speed limit" and D - 3.28 "Parking is prohibited" extends to the nearest intersection behind it, and in built-up areas in the absence of an intersection - to the end of the built-up area. The operation of the signs: A - 5.31 "Zone with a maximum speed limit" and B - "Zone with a restriction on parking" is canceled by signs corresponding only to them 5.32 "End of a zone with a maximum speed limit" and 5.28 "End of a zone with a restriction on parking" ("Road signs ").

3.24 Maximum speed limit

It is forbidden to drive at a speed (km/h) exceeding that indicated on the sign. The coverage area of signs extends from the place where the sign is installed to the nearest intersection behind it, and in populated areas, if there is no intersection, to the end of the populated area. The action of the signs is not interrupted at the places of exit from the territories adjacent to the road and at the places of intersection (adjacency) with field, forest and other secondary roads, in front of which the corresponding signs are not installed. The effect of the sign 3.24, installed in front of the settlement, indicated by the sign 5.23.1 or 5.23.2, extends to this sign. The zone of action of signs can be reduced by placing sign 3.25 (End of the maximum speed limit zone) at the end of their zone of action or by using plate 8.2.1. Sign 3.24 coverage area can be reduced by placing sign 3.24 with a different maximum speed
