In total, the game has five levels of itch-friendly action, more weapons, more enemies, which are increasingly difficult to smoke out of their shelters. Metal Slug goes from being just a difficult game to completely impassable. You can destroy almost all the objects on the screen in the game. Bosses are beautiful and dangerous. An excellent continuation of an excellent game that made a hit for the still not too long Metal Slug series. The big minus of the game for its fans on the machine was its frequent slowdowns in active scenes and boss battles. This time, the project was supervised by the Korean office Mega Enterprise, which, after the bankruptcy of SNK, bought the rights to the game. The Koreans saw the main goal in returning to the original idea of the first Metal Slug series, i.e. to World War II style. Perhaps this and many other facts affected the quality of the final product, which critics evaluate ambiguously, but among them there is not even one enthusiastic exclamation to this Metal Slug series. Of course, the game is not so bad and deserves attention, but in comparison with the entire Metal Slug series, which has raised the bar of quality for games of the shoot "em up genre, it looks rather faded, devoid of originality, all the more against the backdrop of the sensational previous series hit.Cool aside takes the storyline of the game. A certain organization "Amadeus" aims to take over all the military computer networks in the world with the help of a virus they have developed. Your goal is to stop them at any cost. In this series, the confrontation between Morden and the Falcons is reduced to nothing, in fact, Morden and his team take a secondary role in the villainous plans of the eggheads from Amadeus.
The team of fighters has undergone changes, the place of Tarma and Eri was taken by newcomers Trevor Spacey and Nadia Kassel. There are practically no new weapons and vehicles, with the exception of a pair of machine guns, a quadropod car and several units of enemy vehicles from previous series, on which you now have a chance to ride. Several new enemies have appeared: pirates reminiscent of the Arabs from the second part, snow yeti, Amadeus' own troops in blue uniforms, not unlike Morden's solat, the war robot Robomorden and essentially harmless eggheads, because of which, however, you are admitted for a while you can turn into a monkey. Special mention deserves the bonus system, which turns on immediately as soon as you pick up its emblem. Your task is to destroy as many enemies as you can in the time allotted to you. There are six missions in total, borrowing from the third part of the game the ability to end the level in several ways, but nonetheless not bringing tangible joy. The backgrounds for the first two missions are completely taken from the previous parts of the game with some alterations, the backgrounds of the others, although they are original, do not impress with animation. Changed the style of the soundtrack, one of the few virtues of the game.
