Home prayer rule for the Easter week. Orthodox evening and morning prayers from Easter to Ascension

On Holy Week (from April 22 to April 27, 2019), a believer must definitely visit the temple. And, of course, these days cannot be spent without prayers. Christians should be distracted from worldly, everyday affairs and devote themselves to spiritual concerns.

What prayers to read during Holy Week?

If you have not yet read the entire Old and New Testaments, catch up on the days of Great Lent. Try to read these books in a calm environment, and then reflect on what you have read.

In addition to morning and evening prayers, you can read the psalms of King David, as well as Lenten prayers - the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete and the prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian.

And what prayers are read during Holy Week? All four Gospels should be read for the first three days. On Maundy Thursday, at the service in the temple, the faithful are present at the Last Supper and take communion, and in the evening the Gospels of the Passion of the Lord are read in the churches.

Prayer to the Lord Jesus crucified

“Nailed on the Cross for us, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten of God the Father, the Son, mercy, love and bounty, an inexhaustible abyss! We know, for the sake of my sins, from inexpressible philanthropy, Thou hast deigned to shed Your Blood on the Cross, even az, unworthy and ungrateful, hitherto filthy my deeds are trampled and not in anything else. Moreover, from the depths of my iniquity and impurity, with my intelligent eyes, I gazed at the Crucified Thee on the Cross of my Redeemer, with humility and faith in the depths of the ulcers filled with Your mercy, I cast myself down, asking for the sins of forgiveness and the filthy life of my correction. Be merciful to me, my Master and Judge, do not reject me from Your presence, but by Your all-powerful hand turn me to You and guide me on the path of true repentance, so that from now on I will lay the beginning of my salvation. Tame my carnal passions by Thy divine sufferings; With Your poured out Blood, cleanse my spiritual filth; crucify me with your crucifixion to the world with its temptations and lusts; With Your Cross, protect me from invisible enemies that catch my soul. Thy pierced hands, my hands, from every deed that is not pleasing to You, hold back. Nailed to the flesh, nail my flesh to Your fear, so that having evaded evil, I do good before You. Having bowed Your head on the Cross, incline my exalted pride to the land of humility; with your crown of thorns, protect my ears, in a hedgehog do not hear except what is useful; tasting bile with your mouth, put storage with my unclean mouth; Have a heart open with a copy, create a pure heart in me; With all Your ulcers, all of me is sweet in Your love, so that I may love You, my Lord, with all my soul, with all my heart, with all strength and with all my mind. Give yourself a strange and poor, where to bow your heads; give me the All-good One, who delivers my soul from death; give me the All-Sweet One, who delights me in sorrow and misfortune with His love, but I hated Him first, angered Him, exiled Him from myself and nailed to the Cross, now I will love him, rejoicing I will receive and sweetly His Cross until the end of my life I will bear. From now on, O my all-good Redeemer, do not give me a single will to be done, there is evil and indecent, but I will not fall into the hard work of sin that reigned in me; but Your good will, wanting to save me, may it always be done in me, even handing me over to You, my Crucified Lord, with the smart eyes of my heart I represent and pray from the depths of my soul, and even in my separation from my mortal body, You are One on the Cross I will see yours, in the hand of my protection I will accept, and from the air spirits of malice, I will instill sinners who have pleasing you with repentance. Amen".

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read:

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and bestowing life on those in the tombs . (Three times)

From the Ascension to the Trinity, we begin prayers with "Holy God ...", omitting all the previous ones.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three times)

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Tropari

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us; bewildering any answer, we offer this prayer as the Lord of sin: have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us, we put our trust in Thee; do not be angry with us, remember our iniquities below, but look now as if you are merciful, and deliver us from our enemies; Thou art our God, and we are Thy people, all works by Thy hand, and we call on Thy name.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Open the doors of mercy to us, blessed Mother of God, who hope in Thee, let us not perish, but let us be delivered from troubles by Thee: Thou art the salvation of the Christian race.

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Prayer 1, Saint Macarius the Great, to God the Father

Eternal God and the King of every creature, having made me sing even at this hour, forgive me the sins that I have done in this day by deed, word and thought, and cleanse, Lord, my humble soul from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And give me, Lord, to pass in peace in this night of this dream, so that, having risen from my humble bed, I will please Your most holy name, all the days of my stomach, and I will stop the carnal and incorporeal enemies that fight me. And deliver me, O Lord, from vain thoughts that defile me, and from evil lusts. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2, Saint Antiochus, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Almighty, Word of the Father, He is perfect Himself, Jesus Christ, for the sake of Your mercy, never leave me, Your servant, but always rest in me. Jesus, good Shepherd of Your sheep, do not betray me to sedition of the serpent, and do not leave me the desire of Satan, for there is a seed of aphids in me. You are, O Lord God, worshiped, Holy King, Jesus Christ, while sleeping, save me with a flickering light, by Your Holy Spirit, Who sanctified Your disciples. Give, Lord, to me, Your unworthy servant, Your salvation on my bed: enlighten my mind with the light of the mind of Your holy Gospel, soul with the love of Your Cross, heart with the purity of Your word, my body with Your impassive passion, save my thought with Your humility, and raise up me in time like Your praise. As if you were glorified with Your Father without beginning and with the Most Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

Prayer 3, to the Holy Spirit

Lord, the King of Heaven, the Comforter, the Soul of truth, have mercy and have mercy on me, Your sinful servant, and let me go unworthy, and forgive all, the fir tree has sinned today like a man, moreover, not like a man, but more woeful than cattle, my free sins and involuntary, led and unknown: even from youth and science are evil, and even from impudence and despondency. If I swear by Your name, or blaspheme in my thoughts; or whom I reproach; or I slandered whom with my anger, or grieved, or about what I became angry; or lied, or was worthless, or came to me poor, and despised him; or my brother grieved, or married, or whom I condemned; or you become proud, or you become proud, or you become angry; or standing by me in prayer, my mind moving about the wickedness of this world, or the corruption of thoughts; or overeat, or drunk, or laughing madly; or a crafty thought, or seeing a strange kindness, and by that wounded by the heart; or unlike the verbs, or the sin of my brother laughed, but my essence is countless sins; or about prayer, not radih, or otherwise that crafty deeds, I don’t remember, that’s all and more than these deeds. Have mercy on me, my Creator, Lord, dejected and unworthy of Your servant, and leave me, and let go, and forgive me, as Good and Lover of mankind, but I will lie down in peace, sleep and rest, prodigal, sinful and accursed, I will worship and sing And I will glorify Your honorable name, with the Father and His Only Begotten Son, now and forever and forever. Amen.

Prayer 4, Saint Macarius the Great

What will I bring to Thee, or what will I repay Thee, the most gifted Immortal King, the generous and philanthropic Lord, as if lazy to me for Your pleasure, and did nothing good, did You bring to the end of this past day, the conversion and salvation of my soul building? Be merciful to the sinner and naked of every good deed, raise up my fallen soul, defiled in immeasurable sins, and take away from me all the evil thought of this visible life. Forgive my sins, O only Sinless One, even though I have sinned on this day, in knowledge and ignorance, in word and deed, and thought, and all my feelings. You yourself, covering, save me from every opposing situation with your divine power, and indescribable philanthropy, and strength. Cleanse, O God, cleanse the multitude of my sins. Delight, Lord, deliver me from the net of the evil one, and save my passionate soul, and fall on me with the light of Your face, when you come in glory, and now sleep uncondemned, create sleep, and without dreaming, and undisturbed, keep the thought of Your servant, and all Satan's work reject me, and enlighten with me the reasonable eyes of the heart, so that I will not fall asleep in death. And send me an angel of peace, a guardian and mentor of my soul and body, may he deliver me from my enemies; so that, having risen from my bed, I will bring you prayers of thanksgiving. Hey, Lord, hear me, a sinful and wretched servant of Yours, with pleasure and conscience; grant me that I have risen to learn your words, and demonic despondency is far from me driven away to be created by your angels; May I bless Your holy name, and glorify and glorify the Most Pure Theotokos Mary, You gave us sinners intercession, and accept this one who prays for us; we know, as if imitating Your philanthropy, and praying does not stop. Toya by intercession, and the sign of the Holy Cross, and for the sake of all Your saints, keep my poor soul, Jesus Christ our God, for Thou art Holy, and glorified forever. Amen.

Prayer 5th

Lord our God, if I have sinned in these days in word, deed and thought, forgive me as Good and Lover of mankind. Peaceful sleep and serene grant me. Send your guardian angel, covering and keeping me from all evil, as if you are the guardian of our souls and our bodies, and we send glory to you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6th

Lord our God, in Worthless faith, and His name more than any name we call, give us, departing to sleep, weaken the soul and body, and keep us from every dream, except for dark sweetness; set the striving of passions, quench the kindling of the uprising of the body. Give us a chaste life of deeds and words; Yes, a virtuous residence is receptive, the promised ones will not fall away from Your good ones, for blessed are You forever. Amen.

Prayer 7, Saint John Chrysostom

Prayer 8, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, for the sake of Your most honest Mother, and Your bodiless Angels, Your Prophet and Forerunner and Your Baptist, the apostles of God, the bright and victorious martyrs, the reverend and God-bearing father, and all the saints with prayers, deliver me from the present demonic condition. Hey, my Lord and Creator, do not want the death of a sinner, but as if to turn and live to be him, give me the conversion of the accursed and unworthy; deliver me from the mouth of the destructive serpent that gapes, devour me and bring me down to hell alive. Hey, my Lord, my consolation, Even for the sake of the accursed in corruptible flesh, throw me out of wretchedness, and give consolation to my wretched soul. Plant in my heart to do Thy commandments, and leave evil deeds, and receive Thy blessedness: in Thee, O Lord, trust, save me.

Prayer 9, to the Most Holy Theotokos, Peter the Studio

To Thee, the Most Pure Mother of God, as a cursed one, I pray: weigh, Queen, as if I sin without ceasing and anger Your Son and my God, and many times I repent, I find lies before God, and I repent trembling: will the Lord really strike me, and by the hour I will create ; lead this, my mistress, the Lady Theotokos, I pray, have mercy, yes strengthen, and do good work and grant me. Vesi bo, my Lady Mother of God, as if by no means an imam in hatred of my evil deeds, and with all my thought I love the law of my God; but we do not know, the Most Pure Lady, from where I hate it, I love it, but I transgress the good. Do not allow, Most Pure One, my will to be done, it is not pleasing, but may the will of Your Son and my God be done: may it save me, and enlighten me, and give me the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that from now on I would stop foul deeds, and the rest would live in command Your Son, to Him befits all glory, honor and power, with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 10, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Good Tsar, good Mother, Most Pure and Blessed Mother of God Mary, pour out the mercy of Your Son and our God on my passionate soul and with Your prayers instruct me in good deeds, so that the rest of my life will pass without a blemish and I will find paradise with You, Virgin Mary, one Pure and Blessed.

Prayer 11, to the holy guardian angel

Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me all, the fir-tree of sinning today, and deliver me from all the wickedness of the enemy, but in no sin will I anger my God; but pray for me a sinful and unworthy slave, as if I were worthy, show the goodness and mercy of the All-Holy Trinity and the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ and all the saints. Amen.

Kontakion to the Theotokos

The chosen Governor is victorious, as if having got rid of the evil ones, thankfully we will write down Ti Thy servants, the Mother of God, but as if having an invincible power, from all troubles of freedom, let us call Ty; Rejoice, Unbrided Bride.

Glorious Ever-Virgin Mother of Christ God, bring our prayer to Your Son and our God, may our souls be saved by You.

I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me under Your shelter.

Virgin Mother of God, do not despise me, a sinner, requiring Your help and Your intercession, my soul trusts in You, and have mercy on me.

Prayer of St. Joannicius

My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.

It is worthy to eat as truly blessed Thee, the Mother of God, the Blessed and Immaculate and Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth to the real Mother of God, we magnify Thee.

From Pascha to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the refrain and irmos of the 9th ode of the Paschal canon are read:

An angel crying out of grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And pack the river: rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the tomb and raised up the dead; folks, have fun! Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and rejoice, Sione. You, Pure One, show off, Mother of God, about the rise of Your Nativity .

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer of Saint John of Damascus

Lover of mankind, will this coffin be for me, or will you enlighten my wretched soul in the daytime? Seven coffin is before me, seven death is coming. I am afraid of Your judgment, Lord, and endless torment, but I do not stop doing evil: I will always anger the Lord my God, and Your Most Pure Mother, and all the heavenly powers, and my holy guardian angel. We know, O Lord, that I am not worthy of Thy love for mankind, but I am worthy of all condemnation and torment. But, Lord, either I want it or I don't want it, save me. If you save the righteous, you are nothing great; and if you have mercy on the pure, it is nothing marvelous: for the essence of Thy mercy is worthy. But on me, a sinner, surprise Thy mercy: in this, show Thy philanthropy, so that my malice will not overcome Thy inexpressible goodness and mercy: and if you wish, arrange a thing for me.

Enlighten my eyes, O Christ God, lest I fall asleep into death, lest my enemy say: Be strong against him.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Be the intercessor of my soul, O God, as I walk in the midst of many nets; Deliver me from them and save me, Blessed One, like a Lover of mankind.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

The Most Glorious Mother of God, and the Most Holy Angel of the Holy Angels, silently sing with heart and mouth, confessing this Mother of God, as if she truly gave birth to God incarnate to us, and praying unceasingly for our souls.

Mark yourself with the sign of the cross.

Prayer to the Holy Cross

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His presence. As the smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts from the face of fire, so let the demons perish from the face of those who love God and are marked by the sign of the cross, and in joy they say: Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, drive away the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on you, who descended into hell and corrected his strength the devil, and who gave us His Honorable Cross to drive away every adversary. O Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God and with all the saints forever. Amen.

Or briefly:

Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honorable and Life-Giving Cross, and save me from all evil.

Prayer

Weaken, leave, forgive, God, our sins, free and involuntary, even in word and in deed, even in knowledge and not in knowledge, even in days and nights, even in mind and in thought: forgive us all, as Good and Humanitarian.

Prayer

Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord, Lover of mankind. Bless those who do good. Grant to our brethren and relatives even for the salvation of petitions and eternal life. In the infirmities of the being, visit and grant healing. Izhe govern the sea. Travel travel. Fight Orthodox Christians. Grant forgiveness to those who serve and pardon us of sins. Those who have commanded us unworthy to pray for them, have mercy according to Your great mercy. Remember, Lord, before our departed father and brothers, and give them rest, where the light of Thy face dwells. Remember, Lord, our captive brothers and deliver me from every situation. Remember, Lord, those who bear fruit and do good in Your holy churches, and grant them even salvation, petitions and eternal life. Remember, Lord, also us, the humble and sinful and unworthy servants of Thy, and enlighten our minds with the light of Thy mind, and guide us on the path of Thy commandments, with the prayers of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary and all Thy saints: blessed be Thou forever and ever . Amen.

Confession of sins daily

I confess to you the Lord my God and Creator, in the Holy Trinity, the One, glorified and worshiped, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, all my sins, even when I have done all the days of my life, and for every hour, and now, and in the past days and night, deed, word, thought, overeating, drunkenness, secret eating, idle talk, despondency, laziness, contradiction, disobedience, slander, condemnation, neglect, self-love, avarice, theft, ill-spokenness, filthy gain, mischief, jealousy, envy, anger, remembrance , hatred, covetousness and all my feelings: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and my other sins, both spiritual and bodily, in the image of you my God and the Creator of anger, and my neighbor unrighteousness: regretting these, I blame myself to you my God I imagine, and I have the will to repent: to the point, Lord my God, help me, with tears I humbly pray to Thee: forgive me, who has passed my sins by Thy mercy, and resolve from all these, even those who have spoken before You, as Good and Humane.

When you go to sleep, say:

In Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commit my spirit: You bless me, You have mercy on me and grant me eternal life. Amen.

Notes:

- Printed in italics (explanations and names of prayers) are not read during prayer.

- When it is written “Glory”, “And now”, it is necessary to read in full: “Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen"

- There is no sound ё in the Church Slavonic language, and therefore it is necessary to read “we call”, and not “we call”, “your”, and not “your”, “mine”, and not “mine”, etc.

The temple is alreadyRussian and ready for service, but everyone needs to get out of it. And the doors must be closed. Now in our minds the temple is the Life-Giving Sepulcher of the Savior. And we ourselves go to him, as once myrrh-bearing women.

The basis of the world is the week. The number six indicates the created world, and the number seven reminds us that the created world is covered with blessing. Here is the key to understanding the celebration of the Sabbath. On the seventh day, i.e. On Saturday, God blessed what He created, and, resting on Saturday from daily affairs, a person had to reflect on the affairs of the Creator, praise Him for the fact that He arranged everything miraculously. On Saturday, a person was not supposed to show his hair.

Without faith in the Risen Christ, there is no Christianity. That is why all the opponents of our faith are persistently trying to shake the truth of the Resurrection.

The first objection: Christ did not die on the cross: He only fell into a deep faint, from which he later woke up in a cave, got up from His bed, rolled away a huge stone from the doors of the tomb and left the cave ... To this ...

From the day of Holy Pascha to the feast of the Ascension (the 40th day), the Orthodox greet each other with the words: "Christ is Risen!" and answer "Truly Risen!"

EASTER HOURS

ABOUT PARTICIPATION

BRIGHT WEEK

The entire Bright Week is the brightest days of the church year, when the Divine Liturgy is served every day at the open Royal Doors. And only in this week (week) after each after each Divine Liturgy, a procession with the icon, Banners, Artos is performed.

One-day fasts are canceled on Wednesdays and Fridays.

On the Rule of Prayer on the Days of the Celebration of Holy Pascha

On all days of the Easter week - the first week after the feast of the Resurrection of Christ - instead of evening and morning prayers, they sing or read. They are placed in most prayer books.

Those preparing for Communion should read instead of the repentant canon to the Lord Jesus Christ, the canons to the Most Holy Theotokos and the Guardian Angel, as well as Follow-up to Holy Communion.

All prayers(including thanksgiving prayers for Holy Communion) preceded by three reading the troparion of Pascha: “ Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and bestowing life on those in the tombs". Psalms and prayers from the Trisagion (“Holy God ...”) to “Our Father ...” (with troparia after it) are not read.

The Easter Hours are also sung instead of Compline and Midnight Office.

From the second week of Easter the reading of the usual morning and evening prayers begins again, as well as the Rules for Holy Communion, including the canons to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos, the Guardian Angel and the Follow-up to Holy Communion.

However, it is necessary to pay attention to the following features.

Before the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, on the eve of which the Easter holiday is celebrated, instead of praying to the Holy Spirit(“King of Heaven…”) the troparion of Pascha is read three times (“Christ is risen from the dead…”).

Also from Monday of the First Week after Easter until Ascension: instead of the prayer "It is worthy to eat", reads:

« Angel crying out of grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And pack the river: rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the tomb and raised up the dead; folks, have fun!
Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and rejoice, Sione. You, Pure One, show off, Mother of God, about the uprising of Your Nativity.

From the Ascension to the day of the Holy Trinity prayers start with the Trisagion(“Holy God ...”) - a prayer to the Holy Spirit (“King of Heaven ...”) is not read or sung until the feast of the Holy Trinity. Until the day of the Holy Trinity, bows to the earth are also canceled.

Rising from sleep, before any other work, stand reverently, presenting yourself before the All-Seeing God, and, making the sign of the cross, say: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then wait a little until all your feelings come to silence and thoughts leave everything earthly, and then perform the prescribed short prayers with bows, without haste and with attention of the heart.

Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Instead of the prayer "King of Heaven ..." from Easter to Ascension, the troparion of Easter is read three times:

Troparion, tone 5

Christ has risen from the dead, / trampling down death by death / and to those in the tombs / bestowing life. (3)

Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake!

Lord have mercy. (3)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father who is in heaven! May your name be hallowed; let your kingdom come; may Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Troparion of the Holy Trinity

Rising from sleep, we fall down to You, Good One, / and we proclaim the angelic song to You, Strong One: / "Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!"

Glory: From bed and from sleep You raised me, Lord! / Enlighten my mind and heart, / and open my mouth, / to sing to You, Holy Trinity: / "Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!"

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, / and everyone's deeds will be revealed. / But in fear we will exclaim at midnight: / "Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!"

Lord have mercy. (12)

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Rising from sleep, I thank You, Holy Trinity, that by Your great goodness and long-suffering, You, God, did not become angry with me, a lazy and sinful one, and did not destroy me with my iniquities, but showed me Your usual philanthropy, and lifted me up, lying insensible, so that I turn to You early in the morning and glorify Your power. And now enlighten the eyes of my thoughts, open my mouth, so that I may learn Your word, and understand Your commandments, and do Your will, and sing, glorifying You from the heart, and sing of Your all-holy name, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King, God!

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, the King, our God!

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God!

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, blot out my iniquity; wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against you, the only one, and done evil before you, so that you may be justified in your words and overcome if they enter judgment with you. For behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins my mother bore me. For, behold, you have loved the truth, the hidden and secret wisdom of yours has revealed to me. You will sprinkle me with hyssop and I will be cleansed; wash me and I will be whiter than snow, let me hear joy and gladness, the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a Right Spirit within me. Take me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and confirm me with the Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the transgressors Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation, my tongue shall rejoice in thy righteousness. Lord, You will open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise. For if You were willing to sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; God will not despise the heart of the contrite and humble. Benefit, O Lord, in Thy good pleasure Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be erected, then you will favorably accept the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and burnt offerings, then they will offer calves on your altar.

Prayer 1, St. Macarius the Great

God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have never done good before You, but deliver me from evil and may Your will be in me, so that I do not open my unworthy mouth in judgment and praise Your holy name, the Father, and the Son, and Holy Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2, his

Rising from sleep, I offer the midnight song to You, Savior, and falling at Your feet, I cry to You: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but have pity on me, who voluntarily endured crucifixion, and soon raise me, carelessly lying, and save me, standing before you in prayer. And after a night's sleep, send me a clear, sinless day, Christ God, and save me.

Prayer 3, his

To Thee, Lord Lover of mankind, having risen from sleep, I hasten, and I take up the deeds pleasing to Thee, according to Thy mercy, and I pray to Thee: help me at all times, in every deed, and deliver me from every evil vicissitudes in this world and from the devil help, and save me, and lead me into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my Creator and Provider and Giver of all good things. And in You is all my hope, and I send glory to You, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4, his

Lord, You, by Your many goodness and Your great mercy, gave me, Your servant, the past time of this night to pass without adversity from any evil of the enemy. You Yourself, Lord, Creator of everything, vouchsafe me with Your true light and an enlightened heart to do Your will, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, St. Basil the Great

Lord Almighty, God of incorporeal Forces and all flesh, living on the heights of heaven and looking around the valleys of the earth, testing both hearts and inner feelings and secrets of people, knowing clearly, without beginning and eternal Light, in Whom there is no change and not a shadow of change! Himself, immortal King, accept our prayers, which we, boldly hoping for the multitude of Thy mercies, now [at night] from bad lips bring to You, and forgive us our sins, in deed, and in word, and in thought, consciously and out of ignorance committed us, and cleanse us from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, [making us temples of Thy Holy Spirit]. And grant us with a wakeful heart and a sober mind to pass the whole night of our present life, waiting for the coming of the bright day of the appearance of Your Only Begotten Son, the Lord and God and Savior of our Jesus Christ, when He, the Judge of all, will come to earth with glory to reward everyone according to his deeds ; May He find us not fallen and lazy, but awake and risen, in the fulfillment of His commandments, and ready to enter with Him into joy and the divine chamber of His glory, where the unceasing voice of celebrating and the inexpressible delight of contemplating the inexpressible beauty of Your face. For You are the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying everything, and all creation praises You forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6, his

We bless you, the Most High God and Lord of mercy, who always does great and incomprehensible things with us, glorious and terrible, which have no number, giving us sleep for the repose of our weakness and for rest from the labors of the laborious flesh. We thank You, for You did not destroy us with our iniquities, but showed Your love for mankind, as usual, and raised us up, lying in insensible sleep, for the glorification of Your might. Therefore, we pray to Your immeasurable goodness: enlighten our mental eyes and raise our minds from the heavy sleep of carelessness. Open our mouths and fill them with Your praise, so that we can steadfastly sing, [praise] and glorify You, in all and from all the glorified God, the beginningless Father with Your only begotten Son and Your all-holy, and good, and life-giving Spirit, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 7. Midnight Song to the Most Holy Theotokos

I sing of Your grace, Lady, I pray to You, bless my mind. Teach me to walk right in the way of Christ's commandments. Strengthen me so that I stay awake in singing, driving away despondency. Bound by the fetters of the fall, by Thy supplications, free, Bride of God. Keep me safe night and day, delivering me from the attacks of enemies. Having given birth to God, the life of the Giver, revive me, mortified by passions. Having given birth to the Light of Non-Evening, enlighten my blinded soul. O wondrous Hall of the Master, make me the home of the Divine Spirit. Having given birth to a doctor, heal the long-term passions of my soul. Carried along the waves by the storm of life, direct me to the path of repentance. Deliver me from the eternal fire, the evil worm and the underworld. May I not be the joy of demons, guilty of many sins. Renew me, Immaculate, decrepit from inconspicuous sins. Make me unaffected by any torment and implore all the Lord. Grant me, with all the saints, to partake of heavenly joy. Blessed Virgin, hear the voice of Your indecent servant! Grant me streams of tears, Most Pure, cleansing my soul of filth. I bring groanings from my heart to You unceasingly - be zealous, Mistress! Accept my prayer service and bring it to the merciful God. Lifted above the angels, lift me above the worldly confusion. Light-bearing Heavenly Tabernacle, direct spiritual grace in me. I raise my hands and lips to praise, defiled by filth, O All-blameless. Deliver me from soul-destroying abominations, diligently imploring Christ, - honor and worship befits Him now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 8, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Many-merciful and all-merciful my God, Lord Jesus Christ, out of great love You came down and became incarnate to save everyone. And again, Savior, I pray to You: save me by grace! After all, if You could save me by works, it would not be a grace and a gift, but rather a duty. Thus, rich in compassion and unspeakable in mercy, for You said, O my Christ: "He who believes in Me will live and never see death." If faith in You saves those who have lost hope, then behold, I believe, save me, for You are my God and Creator. May faith be credited to me instead of works, O my God, for You will not find any works that justify me. But instead of all of them, let this faith of mine be sufficient - let it answer, let it justify me, let it show me as a participant in Your eternal glory. May Satan not steal me away and may not boast that he has torn me away from Your, the Word of God, hands and fences. But whether you want to or not, save me, Christ, my Savior, come to my aid soon, hasten, I am perishing - for You are my God from my mother's womb! Vouchsafe me, Lord, now to love You, as I once loved that very sin, and again to serve You without laziness, diligently, as I previously worked for Satan the deceiver. I will constantly serve You, the Lord and my God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 9, to the Angel, the guardian of human life

Holy Angel, appointed to watch over my poor soul and unhappy life, do not leave me, a sinner, and do not depart from me for my intemperance. Do not let the evil demon rule over me through this mortal body. Take firmly my unfortunate and drooping hand and lead me to the path of salvation. O holy Angel of God, guardian and protector of my poor soul and body! Forgive me everything that I have offended you with all the days of my life, and if I have sinned this past night, protect me this day and save me from every temptation of the enemy, so that I do not anger God with any sin, and pray for me to the Lord May He establish me in His fear and show me as a slave worthy of His goodness. Amen.

Prayer 10.
Closing Morning Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

My Most Holy Lady, Mother of God, with Your holy and all-powerful supplications, drive away from me the humble and unfortunate servant of Your despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence and all filthy, crafty and blasphemous thoughts from my poor heart and from my darkened mind, and extinguish the flame of my passions, for I am wretched and unhappy. And deliver me from many and pernicious memories and intentions, and from all evil deeds free me, for all generations bless You and Your many-honored name is glorified forever and ever. Amen.

About living

Remember, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the mercies and bounty that have been inherent in You from time immemorial, for the sake of which You became human, and crucifixion and death, for the salvation of the right of those who believe in You, were pleased to endure; and rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and sit to the right of God the Father, and look down on the humble prayers of those who call on you with all their hearts; incline Your ear, and hear the humble prayer of me, Your indecent servant, like the aroma of a spiritual fragrance that brings You for all Your people. And first, remember Your Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which You acquired with Your precious Blood, and confirm, and strengthen, and expand, multiply, pacify, and forever preserve the gates of hell that cannot be overcome; Stop the divisions of the Churches, curb the audacity of the pagans, and quickly destroy and eradicate the uprising of heresies, and turn into nothing by the power of Your Holy Spirit. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on our God-protected country, its authorities and its army, so that we can lead a quiet and serene life in all piety and purity. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on the Great Lord and Father of our Most Holy Patriarch (name), His Grace metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Orthodox, also priests and deacons, and all church ministers whom You appointed to pasture Your spiritual flock, and through their prayers have mercy and save me, a sinner. Save, Lord, and have mercy on the elders and the young, the poor and orphans, and widows, and those who are in illness and sorrow, in troubles and sorrows, difficult circumstances and captivity, in dungeons and imprisonment, especially Your servants, for Your sake and the Orthodox faith persecuted from pagans, atheists, from apostates and from heretics, and remember them, visit, strengthen, comfort, and soon, by Your power, give them relief, freedom and deliverance. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on those sent to serve, and our traveling fathers and brothers, and all Orthodox Christians. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on those whom I, through my foolishness, seduced, turned away from the path of salvation, and attracted to evil and inappropriate deeds; By Your Divine Providence, turn them back to the path of salvation. (Bow)

About the departed

(Bow)

Remember, Lord, the souls of your departed servants, my parents (their names), and all relatives in the flesh; and forgive all their sins, voluntary and involuntary, granting them the Kingdom of Heaven, and the communion of Your eternal blessings, and Your endless and blissful life pleasure. (Bow)

Remember, Lord, and all with the hope of the resurrection and eternal life of the deceased: our fathers and brothers and sisters, and here and everywhere lying Orthodox Christians, and with Your saints, where the light of Your face shines, settle them, and have mercy on us, as Good and Humanitarian. From Antipascha (Week about Thomas) to the celebration of Pascha at the end of the prayers included in the home prayer rule, instead of "It is worthy to eat ...", the refrain and irmos of the 9th song of the Paschal Canon are read:

The angel proclaimed to the Blessed One: / “Pure Virgin, rejoice! / And again I will say: Rejoice! / Your Son rose from the tomb on the third day, / (and raised the dead. / People, rejoice!)

Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, / for the glory of the Lord has risen over you! / Rejoice now and show off, Zion! / You rejoice, Pure Mother of God, / about the resurrection of the One Born by You.

Then: Glory, and now: Lord, have mercy. (3) Lord, bless.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy and save me, a sinner.
