The most important changes in the new document relate to the classification of blood pressure (BP) levels: now the values of systolic blood pressure in the range of 130-139 mm Hg. Art. or diastolic blood pressure from 80 to 89 mm Hg. Art. will be considered arterial hypertension of the 1st degree. In addition, the definition of arterial hypertension, the threshold values of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, starting from which the patient will be shown antihypertensive drug therapy, have changed, and target blood pressure levels have become more aggressive. The new recommendations were published simultaneously in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Hypertension.

To stabilize the pressure, the procedure should be carried out daily for three weeks, then take a break for a week and repeat the treatment again.

Avoid nervous tension and stressful situations. Do not eat too salty and fatty foods. Watch your weight. Check your blood pressure regularly. Avoid alcohol and smoking completely. Move more and be outdoors.

We offer a description of effective folk remedies for hypertension. Perhaps not all of these methods will suit you: some are incompatible with gastrointestinal diseases, others cannot be used during pregnancy, etc. The algorithm of actions is as follows: select from the list the procedures that seem suitable to you, and start performing them (in the order listed or in parallel).

As a result, blood pressure will decrease, but most likely not for long. In order to constantly keep blood pressure within comfortable limits for you, it will be necessary to carry out the whole range of antihypertensive measures, from reducing daily salt intake to connecting various types of physical activity. Yes, and you still have to go to the hospital: the cause of fluctuations in blood pressure must be found out. After all, hypertension can be a symptom of other diseases (for example, thyrotoxicosis), which should be treated as early as possible.

Not always: the answer depends on the magnitude of blood pressure and the severity of symptoms. If you have moderate or severe hypertension (see table) and the pressure cannot be brought down in 20-30 minutes, you will need to call an ambulance. A significant and prolonged increase in blood pressure is fraught with circulatory disorders of the heart and brain, sometimes irreversible.

Mild hypertension140 – 160 90 – 100

ATTENTION! In pregnant women, high blood pressure can be a symptom of late preeclampsia, a condition that can lead to placental edema and miscarriage. Therefore, it is possible to bring down pressure on your own only in cases where its causes are known - stress, overwork, etc.

Compresses and temperature effects

First, we list the most easy for hypertension, "passive" methods of treatment.

Vinegar foot wrap:

  1. Moisten two towels with 3-6% table vinegar (or 9% diluted, accuracy is not particularly important).
  2. Wrap them around your feet and place them on a non-absorbent surface.
  3. Sit with a compress for 10-15 minutes, from time to time wiping the temples with a handkerchief soaked in vinegar.

Warming up with mustard plasters: overlay areas - the back of the neck, shoulders and calf muscles (the diagram is shown in the figure); the duration of warming up is the same 10-15 minutes.

The result of performing any of these procedures will be a decrease in pressure by 30-40 points. "Wet" temperature influences have a similar efficiency (see table).

Warm water treatmentsCryo procedures
Warm baths for hands and feet with soothing aromatic oils (bergamot, myrrh, jasmine, rose, lavender)Applying an ice towel to the solar plexus area, to the base of the neck in front and behind
"Prickly" hot shower on the neck and back of the neckWiping the neck with pieces of ice along the carotid artery and the line of the spine
In no case, not a bath and not a “lying” hot bath - this is too much stress on the heartBy no means "bath with water 1-2 ° cooler than room temperature", as some sources advise
Contrast baths (only for limbs) and low-contrast body showers are acceptable

At first glance, the situation is paradoxical: heating expands blood vessels, and cooling narrows them, while both types of exposure lower pressure. Actually there is no contradiction. The effect of cold in this case is not aimed at lowering body temperature, but at cooling sensitive skin: the touch of ice narrows the peripheral vessels, but almost immediately their reflex expansion occurs. Blood flow to the affected area increases, and the total blood pressure decreases slightly.

ATTENTION! During pregnancy, temperature methods cannot be used, especially for warming baths. Even foot baths are contraindicated, because the outflow of blood to the limbs can cause fetal hypoxia.

Breathing exercises as an emergency measure

One of the most effective ways to normalize the rate of blood flow is to regulate breathing. The simplest exercises are “inhale / exhale with the stomach” and “exhale into the funnel”. How to “breathe with your stomach” is shown in the picture, we will consider in detail only the scheme for performing exercise No. 2. For the "funnel" you will need raw material - an empty 1.5-liter PET bottle. You need to do the following with it:

  1. Carefully cut off the bottom and turn the bottle upside down.
  2. Unscrew the cap, take the bottle with both hands and put it close to your face (carefully so as not to get hurt by the edges).
  3. Breathe as long as possible into the resulting pipe, blowing air with pressure through a narrow neck.

If you hold on for at least 10 minutes, the pressure will decrease by 30 (upper) / 10 (lower) points.

Helps with pressure and breathing Strelnikova. In fact, this breathing exercise is not only for hypertensive patients and involves systematic exercises. But some exercises can still be considered as "emergency hypertensive care."

  1. Breathing warm-up: 4 quick noisy breaths + 1 inaudible exhalation without effort + 4 seconds of rest - repeat 6 times.
  2. Exercise "Palms" (sitting or lying down): bend your elbows and rest your palms against an invisible wall. Rhythmically clench your fists, sharply inhaling air with your nose (as in the warm-up, 4 breaths in a row + 4 seconds of rest) - repeat 24 times.
  3. Exercise "Carriers" (sitting or lying down): rest with clenched fists on the belt or press them to the stomach at the same level, then rhythmically straighten the arms with fists on the floor while inhaling (8 breaths in a row + 4 seconds of rest) - repeat 12 times.

If there is no threat of a hypertensive crisis, it is better to perform breathing exercises while standing, as in the figures below.

Foods for hypertension

The regulatory effect of food products on blood pressure is not instantaneous, but rather cumulative. It manifests itself most fully after 1-2 months of following a special diet. But still, there are products whose extracts can lower blood pressure by 10-15 points after 0.5-1 hour. These are:

  • garlic (alcohol tincture or milk decoction);
  • hot red pepper (dried and ground);
  • cranberry and lingonberry fruit drinks, viburnum tincture, lemon.

We give both garlic recipes: you can choose any, based on personal preferences.

Lactic: 2 medium heads of garlic boil in a glass of milk until softened, let cool and strain. Take 1 tbsp. l. before each meal or 50 g during an attack of hypertension.

Alcoholic: Peel 1 large head of garlic and cut each clove in two across, pour 100 grams of edible ethyl alcohol into the slices and cork tightly, leave, shaking occasionally, for 1 week, then drain the liquid. Take 15-20 drops daily or 30 drops during pressure surges.

INFORMATION ON THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL ON PRESSURE. With a single dose of 30-50 ml, alcohol slightly dilates blood vessels and slightly lowers pressure. But with the systematic use or intake of more than 50 ml of vodka, the risk of hypertension increases.

Cayenne pepper(ground chili pepper) - a very effective vasodilator: a single antihypertensive dose - a teaspoon without a slide, dissolved in 200 ml of warm water.

Lemon and sour berries- the most powerful diuretics, and when used without heat treatment - also "vitamin bombs". Tinctures and fruit drinks from them are prepared according to an arbitrary recipe, but the main principle is that the more berries, the better.

ATTENTION! Lemon, pepper and garlic are extremely unfriendly to the gastric and duodenal mucosa, therefore they are contraindicated in people with gastrointestinal diseases. If you are healthy, but expecting a baby, you should also not use them in therapeutic doses: they can provoke allergies or gastritis, the treatment of which during pregnancy is unsafe for the fetus.

Patients with gastric “chronicles” and pregnant women can use other herbal remedies for pressure, but they will not work as quickly - after a few hours. These are milder natural diuretics:

  • green tea with a slice of lemon;
  • watermelons (not early, only seasonal);
  • strawberries and wild strawberries;
  • decoctions of mountain ash and wild rose;
  • herbal preparations (chamomile, string, bearberry, dandelion, wormwood, motherwort, etc.).

By removing excess fluid from the body, diuretics reduce the volume of blood circulating in the vessels and thereby lower blood pressure.

Acupressure stimulation

Acupressure is the oldest oriental method of acupressure therapeutic massage, also used for pain relief and general stimulation of the body. Unlike acupuncture (acupuncture) does not require damage to the skin.

For emergency pressure reduction, 4 types of paired active points are usually worked out:

  1. On the tips of the middle fingers (symmetrical points).
  2. At the interstitial recess in the upper part of the ear lobes.
  3. On the palms, at the base of the thumb.
  4. In the hollows under the kneecaps.

The points are listed according to the degree of importance and the order of impact, they are schematically shown in fig.

ATTENTION! The intensity of acupressure exposure, generally speaking, does not correspond to the level of hypertension. With high blood pressure figures and / or pronounced symptoms, hard pressure is contraindicated: a light or moderate (short-term, no longer than 30 seconds) massage is recommended. But if the pressure is slightly increased, intense (painful) stimulation of the point is quite acceptable.

Massage and self-massage

Massage is primarily relaxing and soothing, and only then a healing procedure. When self-massaging to reduce pressure, it is convenient to work out areas along the carotid artery and around the cervical vertebrae (see figure). Especially carefully you need to massage the depressions on the sides of the carotid tubercle - the most prominent cervical vertebra.

Very relaxing, which means it helps to normalize pressure, massaging the scalp. It would be nice if someone from the family could help with this.

The circular massage of the area shown in the following figure is also better to entrust to an assistant. Procedure scheme:

  1. For 30 seconds, with medium intensity, act on the "harmonizing" acupressure point, located almost at the base of the armpit (until you feel "aching" heat).
  2. After that, with two or three fingers, without too much pressure, “draw” converging circles from the orange dot (5-6 pcs.).
  3. Repeat the cycle 2-3 times.

Such rubbing is the final stage, the logical conclusion of the antihypertensive series of exercises. Ideally, after it, it is better to fall asleep for 2-3 hours or lie quietly with a book in bed.

NOTE. Massage, along with breathing practices and the study of acupressure points, is more suitable for pregnant women than other "folk" remedies for relieving episodic attacks of hypertension.

4.1

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a common disease that used to be most often manifested in older people.

Now this trend has begun to change - young people aged 20-30 are also prone to hypertension. The reason is the frantic rhythm of modern life, endless work, living in difficult urban conditions.

Article content:

Jumps in blood pressure can lead to nervous overstrain, stress, anxiety, excessive physical exertion, malnutrition, and much more.

And such a disease cannot be ignored, no matter how “insignificant” the rise in pressure would be.

Possible reasons

The pressure is considered high if it exceeds 160. The optimal working blood pressure is 120/80. You can measure it with a tonometer. The exact causes of increased blood pressure are not completely known - they can be named only in 10-20% of cases. According to scientists, the main causes of pressure surges can be:

  • advanced age;
  • stress, both positive and negative;
  • malnutrition (consumption of large amounts of salt, coffee, fatty foods, late dinners);
  • excess weight;
  • sedentary lifestyle and complete lack of physical activity;
  • wrong daily routine;
  • diseases of internal organs (kidneys, thyroid gland, heart, blood vessels). Such as pyelonephritis, thyrotoxicosis, atherosclerosis and others;
  • difficult working conditions;
  • alcohol consumption;
  • smoking.

Even if you eat right and exercise, but drink large amounts of alcohol or smoke more than one pack of cigarettes a day, you are at risk for hypertension.

A sharp jump in blood pressure or even "chronic" hypertension, quite possibly, lies in wait for you at the next turn of life. Any experience, even joyful, can “start” the disease.

Characteristic symptoms

It is impossible not to notice a sharp jump in pressure - such changes in the body simply cannot pass without a trace and asymptomatically. But the “slow but sure” onset of hypertension can be easily missed – which is why many experts call hypertension the “silent killer”.

The main signs of high blood pressure are as follows:

  • anxiety state;
  • memory impairment;
  • nausea;
  • dizziness;
  • desire to lie down and lower your head down;
  • heartache;
  • flashing "flies" before the eyes;
  • violation of the heart rhythm (tachycardia);
  • darkening in the eyes;
  • weakness;
  • fever, sweating;
  • profuse urination;
  • headache.

If, after the first signs of hypertension, you do not treat it, then shortness of breath, swelling of the face, circulatory disorders, and numbness of the fingers will be added to these signs over time. And the further, the stronger and brighter the above signs will appear. Over time, weakness in the hands will appear, vision may deteriorate.

Sharp jumps in pressure (hypertensive crisis) a person will notice immediately: a sharp darkening of the eyes, nausea, weakness in the limbs will force you to at least sit on a chair in order to wait out the attack, and in some cases, call an ambulance.

The first signs may not always appear, but it is important to remember that this is not a reason to forget about the developing disease.

The danger of high blood pressure

With high blood pressure, jokes are bad: if you let the disease take its course, you can get a lot of complications, which are sometimes life-threatening. Those who suffer from hypertension are more prone to the following diseases than others:

  • stroke;
  • myocardial infarction;
  • vascular atherosclerosis;
  • lameness, which appeared as a result of circulatory disorders in the blood vessels of the legs;
  • blurred vision;
  • brain dysfunction;
  • heart and kidney failure;
  • in some cases, death is possible.

The hypertensive heart works with an increased load, pumping blood through constricted vessels, and therefore many complications are associated with it. The walls of the heart wear out quickly, which increases the risk of heart attacks.

In hypertensive patients, blood circulation changes, which is accompanied by swelling of the legs and arms, shortness of breath, and in some cases, hemoptysis. Cholesterol plaques begin to appear on the walls of blood vessels, they become narrow, and it is more difficult for blood to move through them - hence the oxygen starvation of tissues, numbness.

The most important advice is that at the first signs of increased pressure and the development of hypertension, hurry to the doctor, otherwise you risk losing your health and losing many of the joys of life due to the disease that has arisen.

Change your lifestyle to reduce your risk of complications:

  • Get exercise. If you can't do heavy physical exercises, learn Finnish walking, swimming. Even a simple walk down the street before going to bed and during the day will positively affect the state of your body.
  • Quit smoking and give up alcohol. Yes, stress in hypertension should be avoided, and quitting smoking abruptly is difficult, and the body will be “nervous”. Try something to "distract" him. But getting rid of this risk factor for hypertension is very important.
  • If you are overweight, lose weight. And it will become easier to move, and the body will feel better.
  • Eat less salt. The maximum dose of table salt per day is 5 grams. Give up pickles, chips, fast food.
  • Eat vegetables, fruits, fish, lean meats.
  • Learn to unwind after work leaving all the hassle in the office, at the machine and so on. Smile more often and do not think about the bad. Do not watch a lot of TV and do not take negative information to heart.

But what to do and how to act if you are caught by a hypertensive crisis - a sharp jump in pressure upwards?

  1. Take a seated or horizontal position.
  2. Close your eyes and try to relax a little.
  3. Perform a simple exercise: inhale deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Breathe like this for 3 minutes - this will slightly reduce pressure and adjust your heart rate.
  4. If possible, measure blood pressure with a tonometer.
  5. If you have already been to the doctor and know which pills you can take, then take an extraordinary dose of medication.
  6. If the pressure approaches critical values, call an ambulance.
  7. If you feel chest pain, then take a Nitroglycerin tablet - it is placed under the tongue and dissolved.

What traditional medicine lowers blood pressure?

It is necessary to treat high blood pressure, focusing on the prescriptions of the attending physician, but you yourself can try to improve your condition using folk methods. Many of them are absolutely safe - we will talk about such methods.

  • Lemon and honey. With the help of these products, you can prepare a pleasant-tasting and healthy drink. Pour water without gas into a glass, dilute a tablespoon of honey in it and add lemon juice, squeezing half the fruit. It should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach.
  • beetroot drink. Mix 2 cups of beetroot juice, the juice of one lemon, 1.5 cups of cranberry juice and a cup of honey. Such a drug is taken 3 times a day before meals, a single dose is 1 tablespoon.
  • Garlic mix. Grind 3 heads of garlic and 3 lemons, fill the resulting porridge with hot water (1.5 liters). Let it brew for 2 days, stirring occasionally. Strain and take the drink 1 hour before meals, a tablespoon three times a day.
  • herbal infusion. Take 3 tablespoons of rose hips, a tablespoon of nettle, 2 tablespoons of mountain ash and currant, put in a thermos and pour boiling water. The drink should be infused for 4 hours and taken throughout the day.
  • Golden mustache. This plant lives in many and has long been known for its medicinal properties. It will also help with hypertension. Finely chop the knees of the purple plant (15 pieces), fill with a bottle of vodka. Infuse the remedy for 12 days in the dark. Shake the tincture every three days. Take the remedy in the morning before meals, 1 dessert spoon.
  • Kefir and cinnamon. Stir a teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a glass of kefir and drink once a day.

There are also folk ways to lower blood pressure quickly at home.

  • Baths. Pour hot water into a basin and soak your feet in it for about 10 minutes.
  • Compresses. Soak a piece of cloth in a 9% vinegar solution and apply it tightly to your feet. The tissue is removed as soon as the pressure begins to decrease.
  • hot massage. Heat a teaspoon in water and press it against the nostril with the convex side. As soon as it cools down, repeat the procedure, attaching a spoon to the other nostril. Warm your fingers on the glass and hold on to your earlobes. Then drink a glass of hot tea and lie down in peace and quiet.

When the pressure jumps sharply, it is important to pull yourself together and remember what not to do when the pressure rises:

  • in no case do not panic - excess stress will further aggravate the situation and will not help you reduce pressure;
  • do not take any medications if your blood pressure has jumped for the first time, and the doctor did not prescribe you medications;
  • do not fuss, it is better to postpone all things and just lie down.

Remember: pressure surges should not be ignored and you should visit a doctor as soon as possible. If you are categorically against taking medications, then explain this to a specialist - the doctor will recommend you non-traditional methods of treatment. Most importantly, do not let the disease take its course.
